I crashed it two times in a row, but now I cannot make it crash again.

what I did:
- open some png
- alt+up to see folder
- open another png
- space to select next image
- until last which is an animated gif
- see first or second frame of animation
- alt-up to see folder again
- alt-up to see parent folder
- alt-f4 to exit
- crash
The last three alt-? came pretty fast in less than 3 seconds. I speculate,
there is a race condition with the animation timer somewhere.

I wanted to associate my little program to three filetypes. The first was peace
of cake, just hit "add" and it will automatically create a appname.desktop file
in ~/.local/share/applications/, but on the second mime-type, it created a
second appname-2.desktop file for the same application. That was not, what I
had hoped for. So I tried it the other way round: Edit the first application
and add more mime-types to it. But since there are a thousand in the tree under
application/ and the tree is not sorted at all, finding my desired type is
really a pain in the ass, forcing me to read the whole list very carefully.

This tree should be sorted and there should be the same search feature in the
small dialog as in the main kcontrol-app.

On May 8th 2015 I added accounts for my 2 nephews.
The younger nephew username "simon" uid 1001 is missing in kcontrol. He only
logged in that very day and never again (no idea, if he even remembers his
password).
The older nephew username "tobias" uid 1002 logged in a few times (last on June
16th 2016) and is showing in kcontrol as expected.

I've created a new user, showing up fine and also deleted the new user. But
simon is still lost, despite the switch-session-screen offers him for login.

@Gus thanx for the KUser tip, now I can at least change his password, should
the need arise.

There have been intermediate release-upgrades of Kubuntu ... apport claims I
started out with 14.04, working up all the way through 14.10, 15.04, 15.10 and
finally 16.04 now

Middle Click on a folder/zip-archiv still opens a new tab, but pasting a
directory-name on middle-click into the white nowhere beyond files does nothing

My Dolphin 15.12.3 already has such an entry in the New ... submenu

Only thing left: I could not find a keyboard-only shortcut to paste as a
symlink ... but there is always a Konsole on F4 ... so I don't really need one

There's a related bug 163079 focusing on file conversion actions, overlapping
with this as a special case of general script execution.

I wonder, if this is really a useful feature to integrate into dolphin. Maybe a
standalone demon can watch certain folders and run scripts. The configuration
and writing those scripts certainly requires a plethora of options and IMHO
necessitates a new application.

It's like saying: "I want AutoKey-features in the keyboard-layout switcher ..."
just because both applications happen to be related to keyboard input.

Ctrl+[1..3] is already taken to toggle between preview icons, list- and
tree-view
Tab and Ctrl-Tab should work to some extent ... only you can't tab out of a F4
Konsole, as tab is used for completion.

I suggest F6 to toggle between left and right side. Especially the selection
per side has to be preserved, which is a pain in the ass when activating the
inactive side with a mouse-click. To edit the location, there is still the
widely known Ctrl+L in place as a redundant fallback.

Previews are stored in ~/.thumbnails ... maybe, there is something wrong in
this folder? You could try to rename it to ~/.thumbnails.old and navigate to
you're pictures and press F5 to see, if the thumbnails are shown with a freshly
created folderstructure in ~/.thumbnails.

This really seems as easy, as ripping a CD. But there is a significant
difference: The Audio-CD was there first and doesn't change during the course
of actions.

So what's the point of having multiple scripted folders all over the place, if
all you want to achieve is to convert files? As conversions are almost always
lossy, I strongly recommend against leaving such an open trap lying around.
Moreover the original suggestion involves two copy/move actions, because you
would not want the converted results to stay in the conversion folder. So you
have to select your current working set twice.

Reconsidering the Audio-CD example, what's really needed IMHO is a kind of
filter overlay on the folder, to give an easy copy source, that's deactivated
on leaving the folder, much like Ctrl-i works. Say, I'm in a folder of wavs and
mp3 and activate a wav2ogg filter. All fileextensions of wav change to ogg
(hiding mp3 and other unconvertible files), although no file has been converted
jet. Now I select those I want and drag them over to another folder. Only after
the drop, conversion starts.

This would allow for easy recover after accidentally creating links, although a
move/copy was intended: Just repeat the drag and choose a different
modifier key.

Whereas now, you first have to select all the invalid links and delete them,
before again selecting the sources and repeating the drag.

Love this idea ... but I'd rather lay the progress as a background under the
filename.

In addition, on a move it would also be nice, if the source would have a
reverse progressbar, even if the final delete is only done at the very end
after all content was copied.

How about drag? This already displays a little context menu on drop to:
- copy
- move
- link
(- copy structure)
- abort

Why not add a new "copy structure"-command?

The problem I see is, that on a drag only the absolute filenames are
transmitted, not the working directory to which I'd like to recreate the
structure. And say the homedirectory is only a lame fallback. Also this should
not interfere with drag from other sources.

Perhaps it could be done by adding a new drop-flavor-type other than the plain
file-list.

A final side-note: Currently the menu can be skipped by using shift and or
control on the drop. But I would deliberately not assign a new keyboard
shortcut.

To be precise: The Java Process is in no way unresponsive = frozen. It's
actually running fine. I'm seeing this with http://tvbrowser.org It will
display the normal reminder-dialogs. From such a reminder, you can open the
details of the tv-show opening in a second dialog. From there you can configure
the left panel and access the settings, from where you can toggle the minimize
to tray, which will correctly remove or add the tray-icon on apply. TV-Browser
itself is running just fine, only it's tray-icon never gets any mouse events.

I'm using harddrive encryption and typing one password is enough for my taste.)

For me, knotes toggles between 3 situations:
1. no notes at all
2. showing 9 notes (I suspect these are the most recent only)
3. showing all 40 notes actually stored on disk in
~/.local/share/notes/KNotes/new

1 is default after knotes starts up automatically at login
2 can be created via the settings-dialog there is a refresh button for the
inbox maildir folder
3 appeared after disabling, enabling as per comment 1

New notes are saved to the folder as expected and count on top of the 9. The
difference of 31 notes were restored from backup after suffering from bug
357048 (I manually copy and pasted from the black notes, created new ones for
each and deleted the black boxes).

Knotes terminates normally, I if request it via rightclick, but on unlock /
shutdown of Plasma, there is a segfault each time, if KNotes is still around.

I created accounts for my nephews on this machine. The home directory is there
and he was already successfully logged in. Also his name shows up when I log my

1. created user from user management of previous KDE (Kubuntu 15.04)
2. upgrade Kubuntu to 15.10
