Some times when I type out my comments they appear much too harsh than I intend
them to be. This is something that I'm working on ;-). For this I apologize
and would like to clear the slate on this topic. I know that you have spent a
great deal of your personal time on this project including several other
projects.

I understand that this window decoration is more complex than the average
widget. Too bad that Qt doesn't provide better examples for help. Any comments
from the KDE people on their board?

I wish you the best of luck in finding a coder with time on their hands to help
you finish this great project. Too bad KDE couldn't integrate qtcurve-qt5 into
their code (just a thought).

I'll put the word out for people that have time to code using C++ with
openSUSE.
Can you post on your GIT site that you're looking for help. Bye.

[QtCurve] [Bug 353216] qtcurve-qt5 is missing the qtcurve window decoration in Plasma 5

code. So he couldn't give me a date for it this year. This is taking a very
long time to finish and port the Window decoration to Plasma 5.10

Anybody out there that knows C++ really well. We just may need some one to help
out the maintainer.
Another option would be to create a fork for qtcurve=qt5 and finish it this
year.

Plasma 5.9.0 has a global menu panel as seen in OS X which is a lot more
functional and a superb replacement.

Argh! I'll submit this bug report with Nvidia. Good luck on that...
I'm sure that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.

I wonder if this can be resolved if I buy a new graphics card. Perhaps a
Radeon?

Sure, I can test your patch. Just tell me how to apply it.

BTW That window should disappear right after clicking on the OK button

Yes. I've provided a screenshot of the "Scale Canvas" pop up window.

The crash happens after clicking on the OK button after increasing the size of

I could see having the widget set in this mode by default. However, for the
user that doesn't like to have dozens of icons on his or her desktop switches
to using the folder widget.

The folder widget from KDE4 allowed users to move icons around to their hearts
content. This is the open-source approach. Whilst this folder widget in Plasma
5 disallows users to move their icons wherever they want. This is the
closed-source mindset. At least for now LOL ;-(

Please please reconsider bringing back the extra features from KDE4 that made
it so great.
I'll buy you a German ale next time I'm in town. ;-)

[plasmashell] [Bug 365010] New: Cannot place icons off grid in any order without cons being locked to grid in alphabetical order

2016-07-02 Thread Roman Bysh via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=365010

Bug ID: 365010
Summary: Cannot place icons off grid in any order without cons
being locked to grid in alphabetical order
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Folder
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: rb03...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org

I am trying to place my icons in the order that I want without them reshuffling
in alphabetical order. I cannot move an icons to the next row due to it
snapping to grid and being locked in its position.

The only way I was able to place my icons in the order that I wanted was to
delete all of the icons from the folder plasmoid. Next I would click and drag
the icons to the folder plasmoid in the order that I would like them to appear.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Move one of the existing icons in between two other icons
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The existing icons on the folder plasmoid are set in a locked to grid position.

Expected Results:
I should be able to place icon on any row and move it off grid so the icons
appear in an order that i prefer.

Sorry about the rant. It was never my intention to shame or guilt anyone into
working on their code. After reading the comment on a new day, I realize that
my comments were way out of line.
I did not know that the code was that messed up from KDE4.

Nice to know ;-) I love it's features in KDE4. Unbelievably user-friendly.

At this moment in time, in order to place icons in the order that I like, I
have to delete them all and then place them one at a time.
It's crippled in Plasma 5. Selecting sort by unsorted is broken and you've set
it to permanent "snap to grid".

You had this superb folder plasmoid that allowed many features and crippled it
for Plasma 5. Is this what the devs decided what was best for users coming from
KDE4? We have thousands of users that are very disappointed.

Can you please bring the features from KDE4 back for Plasma 5.7?

This folder view widget has the icons locked using "snap to grid". This is
broken by design.
I would recommend bringing back what we had in KDE4.

KDE4 allowed us to place the icons where we wanted in whatever order or row
that we liked.
Plasma 5's folder plasmoid is a step backward. Please fix.

I will ask around on our openSUSE mail list.
There must be a number of people that can help you out regarding the new API
and upgrade path.

Status please. I would encourage others to download the master to see if it was
fixed.

[plasmashell] [Bug 349721] Folder icons changing size on reboot, can't manually sort their position.

I'm using openSUSE Tumbleweed. When KDE4 was still available the folder widget
definitely allowed the user to move and place icons manually in any order. This
included snap to grid. As of now, we have to delete all of the icons from the
widget and use the "first come first serve method" to place our preferred
icons.

It worked perfectly in KDE4 until Plasma 5 ripped out all of the features.
Please bring them back.
Will this be another *wontfix* issue?

If this is resolved where is the patched phonon-backend-vlc package?
