[krita] [Bug 368392] New: Percentage for math input

2016-09-07 Thread eliotJ via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368392

Bug ID: 368392
   Summary: Percentage for math input
   Product: krita
   Version: git master
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: usability
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: os...@jadamspam.pl

Krita v3.0.1 introduced great math input: https://docs.krita.org/Maths_input

I have noticed that it has some advenced operators, like "Natural Logarithm"
(these, I think, will be rarely use by the artists). I think it missed
percentage input (for example 467+30%) which would be far more usable for
artists, I believe :).

Reproducible: Always

Hmmm...

1. My bug is related to "Line Tool", yours to the "Freehand Brush Tool" with
"Stabilizer" and without "Finish Line" enabled.
2. My bug appears while using Wacom Intuos Pro M, you have used mouse...
3. Yours bug looks like brush doesn't stop to paint after release left mouse
button, my gives one straight line to the corner of the Canvas after release
stylus pressure...

I don't know if both bugs has the same reason...

I disscused on the IRC with Raghavendra kamath.

Hmmm... It looks like this bug is more complicated than just Stabilizer... For
me this Stabilizer fix + "stabilizerSampleSize=20" in kritarc eliminating these
bended lines...

Raghavendra kamath needs also turning off 'Use texture buffer' (like he
described above)... For me these texture buffer dosen't do bended lines, but
slow down Canvas navigation, which I reported here
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364184

1. Raghavendra kamath using Linux, I using Windows 7 - this bug doesn't be
Windows only. Boud said it's true...

2. Imho: Maybe these "stabilizerSampleSize=20" should be default settings...

3. Imho: On the download page of the Krita should be some kind of warning: "If
you notice some slow down in performance try turning off 'Display >> Use
texture buffer".

  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: usability
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: os...@jadamspam.pl

I noticed that in v3.0 I have really worse performance in navigating the Canvas
(Pan, Rotate, Zoom) compared to v2.9.10ae. On both versions I used 'Instant
Preview' and 'OpenGL' and 'Scaling Mode >> High Quality Filtering".

In v3.0 helps a lot (for me) turning off 'Display >> Use texture buffer' but
still I get really worse performance than I have in v2.9.10ae.

My PC: Intel Dual Core 2,2 Ghz, 4 GB Ram, Nvidia GeFroce G 103M, Win 7 64bit.

>From IRC (discussion about these issue):
it might be a change in Qt5 -- where Qt now forces double-buffering
 it's so incredibly hard...
we started porting over a year ago, but only now we're really seeing the
regressions, other than the most obvious ones!
Even on small resolution of image I have slow down...
what I think is also going is that 3.0 has memory problems compared to
2.9

I noticed that the Overview Docker has very bad quality for showing preview of
the canvas. It's very well noticeable while doing some line art and using small
window of the Overview Docker.

Here it's a discussion from IRC about it:
[17:40:19] actual code is in KisPaintDevice:: createThumbnailDevice
[17:40:56] boud: Does better scaling mode give far worse performance ?
[17:40:58] I think at one point we took a qimage of the whole image and
scaled it using qt -- that used oodles of memory and was very slow
[17:41:25] eliotJ: well, I'm actually wondering whether we ever tried
scaling using Krita's scaling method.
[17:41:36] But that's _also_ the wrong approach
[17:41:58] we should just make the overview widget a canvas and let
opengl do the scaling, instead of getting a thumnbail from the image
[17:42:45] and it should be a canvas that shares the tiles with the main
canvas, of course

[18:23:55] boud: I have another (temporairly solution maybe), better
scaling mode and update only after finished the stroke or after, for example,
500ms... Imho It doesn't need real time update inside these Overview.
[18:26:13] boud: Maybe these solution is easy to implement and
sufficient.
[18:27:49] It's just Overview - and this way we doesn't lost good
performance and get good quality of thumbnail.
[18:56:54] eliotJ: well... that's going to give big problems with memory
usage.

Reproducible: Always

[krita] [Bug 363739] Brush lag at zoom level 50 below

2016-06-07 Thread eliotJ via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363739

Hi again

It sad that it doesn't help...

Lately somebody else (nick from krita's IRC channel: 'Stratosfear') has
reported exactly the same issue on IRC... He also has AMD CPU. His hardware
specs:

System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
System Model: GA-MA785GT-UD3H
BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 945 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220

For he my solution has resolved this bug :). I also have Nvidia card (GeForce G
103M) and Intel CPU. I have some similar slow down and for me turned off "Use
texture buffer" also helps a lot... It looks like this turn off gives boost for
Nvidia only.

2016-06-03 Thread eliotJ via KDE Bugzilla

Bug ID: 363911
Summary: Manually changed kritarc gives crash

  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: os...@jadamspam.pl

I added manually (Dmitry told me how) custom settings for the Stabilizer
'stabilizerSampleSize=30' (these is described here:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362445#c15). I trying change behavior of
Stabilizer because by default Stabilizer works slow for me (after fix bended
lines in v3.0 on Windows). I put 'stabilizerSampleSize=30' in the beginning of
‘kritarc’ file. I edited ‘kritarc’ file while Krita was turned off.
Next I started Krita, hit File >> New >> Custom Document >> Create and Krita
crash...

Maybe this is related to OpenGL rewrited code in 3.0... We have some collection
(on this bug tracker) of strange bugs, hard to reproducing in diffrent
hardwares than this one which it owns by reporter of the bug.

@aquasx1
1) Does it's also exists in Krita v2.9.11 or does it's a regression in v3.0 ?

2) What graphic card do you have in yours computer ?

3) Can you try also reproducing this bug in the newest Krita ?:

Hi Boud

Very strange is that in v2.9.10.2 Animation Edition 64 bit (I using it for
weeks now, everyday) this crash not appear... Maybe this is qt5 related
somehow...

[krita] [Bug 361715] New: After wake up PC Krita crash

2016-04-13 Thread eliotJ via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361715

Bug ID: 361715
Summary: After wake up PC Krita crash
   Product: krita
   Version: 3.0 Alpha
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: os...@jadamspam.pl

It crash directly after wake up PC and only after doing some little longer
drawing / painting (for example 10 minutes) and with opened, active window of
Krita. Without any opened file Krita doesn’t crash. I noticed also that Krita
doesn’t crash if is minimalized to Windows taskbar (before goes to Windows
sleep mode of course).

I tested on Windows 7 64 bit, NVidia card.

Reproducible: Always

Bug ID: 360895
Summary: Toolbox - blue for selected tool

OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org

Currently in Krita 3.0 dev1 Toolbox gives very poor visual feedback of selected
tool (too small contrast between selection rectangle over icon and background
of Toolbox).

I have tested on Windows 7.

Please check atached image for details :).

Reproducible: Always

[krita] [Bug 360633] Snaping Transform selection to grid or guides doesn't work

2016-03-19 Thread eliotJ via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360633

Uuuu... I should written more...

Quote from release notes for 3.0 prealpha 3
(https://krita.org/item/3-0-pre-alpha-3-is-out/):
"Snapping to grids and guides wasn’t part of the original plan, and we were
even considering making it a 2016 Kickstarter stretch goal, but we implemented
snapping for all vector, selection and raster tools! Well, with the exception
of the distance measurement tool and the freehand tools, like the freehand
brush tool, multibrush, dynabrush, and freehand path tools."
It sounds like Transform selection should snapping to grid or guides...

IMHO these functionality would be very handy, for example for concept artist or
comics artist.
