result. Appreciate your efforts. The window list is not a critical requirement

When I log in to my desktop session I sometimes (1 in 3) I do not get system
tray icons for non KDE plasma applications (akregator, kmail, slack, keepassx)
which are running.

I can kill and restart the applications but they do not get added to the tray.

If I restart plasmashell (kill and run from terminal) I get all the icons in
the shell.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log out of session (if working)
2. Log back into session (may not work)

Yes I use PCManFM 1.2.4 file manager on lubuntu 16.04 (4.4.0-31-generic
#50-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jul 13 00:07:12 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux).
But on previous lubuntu version 15.10 problem was missing.

The errors come from Thumbnail database which can be broken due to previous
crash. This database only contain wavelets compressed thumbs. You can drop it
and recreate the database in mysql as at init. The database contents will be
recreated automatically.

After installing a new copy of the latest KDE neon OS, the System isn't booting
anymore. Live Image is working perfectly well, but than, after Setup and
reboot, only a lite command prompt is showing.

This problem occurs ONLY on UEFI enabled systems, like Generation 2 VMs on
Microsoft Hyper-V or EFI enabled VMs in VMware ESXi 6.0. When i try legacy
setups, neon starts up normally.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Installing a new copy of KDE neon useredition-20160728-1517-amd64 on an UEFI
enabled virtual machines, like Microsoft Hyper-V Generation 2 or on VMware
Workstation / ESXi, etc. 


Actual Results:  
After POST of my virtual machines, i'll only see the following message:

GNU GRUB Version 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.1

Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists
possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file
completions.

Expected Results:  
The System should boot up normaly and should show my login screen

This error occurs on both of my server systems:

First server: 

Virtualization Server
VMware ESXi 6.0.0-201605040001-standard-customized (VMware, Inc.)
MB: Gigabyte H77M-D3H
Processor: Intel Core i3-2120 @ 3.30 GHz
RAM: 16 GB

Second server:

Could these crashes be related with the instant preview? Krita is behaving like
this only when I have the instant preview activated. The program crashes
seemingly at random, and the only common thing between the crashes is that the
ip is activated. 

I 've got a couple of backtraces as well, if you think that this is the
problem.

Steve, this sounds right like the so-called "internally added" audio mixers
got, well, mixed up (sorry for the pun). I've seen this also with one of my
older projects. We've found this out just these weeks and the recent Kdenlive
16.07.90 beta version already has fixes in place. There's even an online
Kdenlive project analyzer that can help tracking down mixing issues:

I would like to ask you to try your existing project loading into the recent
beta version. The audio tracks then should behave as expected. If not, please
add a single track, and check again, then audio mixing should be fine. You can
later remove this empty track again. The reason is that Kdenlive now recreates
its internal per-track audio mixers upon loading and in any case when adding or
removing a timeline track.

If this solves your problem, I would like to ask you to close this bug report

Hi,

sorry, I do not think this patch is complete. In fact, I think it is just a new
bug.

Your patch simply replaces all %0A with \n in the body. In fact, the body needs
to be passed through decodeMailtoUrl() or something like that just like the to=
query parameter is.

Moreover, the same applies to subject=, and *any* other field.

(On a side note, the %xx encoding has nothing to do with HTML, it is URI
encoding).

You can use any mail in the Debian bug tracker and click the reply link to test
whether the fix is complete.

Yeah using nvidia driver here, thanks for the reply Boudhayan. I've had
numerous issues with nvidia drivers higher than 340 with the newer 4.4 kernels.
I don't have time to validate this right now, but I'll try reverting back to
340 and see if the issue continues. 

IMO, the latest nvidia drivers are crappy/buggy

I don't thing think the solution to this I tweaking this or that or hoping
that every time there is an update or the wind changes direction it might
be fixed. There is something fundamentally wrong which I assume should not
be that difficult to find via profiling. I did some comparisons of CPU
usage for things like scrolling a PDF and CPU usage was an order of
magnitude less than any of the many instances of status/spinner
requirements.

Anton, recent beta 16.7.90 has fixes for the track headers and buttons: you can
now resize the track header width by dragging the right end of the header
block, you'll notice that the mouse cursor turns into a resize cursor when
hoovering over the dividing line. Can you please check if the bug has been

This is caused by a Qt bug in code used by the old Task Manager backend, which
is still used in the Window List plasmoid in Plasma 5.7. The Window List
plasmoid in 5.8 has been ported to the new Task Manager backend. You can
temporarily avoid this problem by disabling the Window List plasmoid. We're
considering backporting the more reliable Window List to a future 5.7.x
release.

I think as well that the current non-existing migration process from digikam 4
to 5 is pretty user unfriendly. I wondered also why I had to reconfigure
everything and my templates were gone. After some searching, I found this bug.
At least, my database wasn't fucked up. Since several bad experiences with
digikam breaking its db, I'm very cautious in this regard. 

I would have expected at least a piece of information somewhere that the config
paths changed. It shouldn't be so hard to implement a notice in the first-run
wizard. Alternatively, one could ask the user if he did use digikam 4 before
and if so, display some warnings. You could explain that the config path did
change and that the files can be copied by the user at own risk.
Furthermore, is there any reason why you do not make a copy of digikam4.db and
save it as digikam5.db (although the db didn't change)?

Then this is an upstream issue and you need to contact the MLT project,
http://mltframework.org/. The reason is that MLT is the engine inside Kdenlive;
so if melt already chokes, then Kdenlive cannot do anything about this.

Unfortunately I am very new to Qt/KDE/Plasma internals and not familiar with
the term "strut".
Light Googling suggests it means a "keep out" area?

I would say that it's a Z-order issue rather than a "keep out" issue. Consider
a case where I have a full-screen application minimized to the task bar. If I
unhide the taskbar and restore the application, I would like it to use the
entire desktop, including the area behind the taskbar. So, in that regard, the
taskbar should not be considered a "keep out" area.

FWIW, on Windows (where I also have an auto-hide taskbar and I'm using Classic
Start Menu to emulate Win2K cascading menus,) the submenus are displayed in
front of the taskbar.

Use of application dashboard seemingly brings the cowpositor (GLX 3.1 on ATI
with catalyst) to crash. A black square appears on the menu icon in the panel
and there is no more transparency or whatever.

FTW, panel is **located on top of the screen**, so the menu icon is on the
upper-left corner.

Any attempt to restart the compositor (eg killall plasmashell && kstart
plasmashell) will fail until every 3rd party apps' icons (telegram, skype, ...)
is clicked once.

When the latter is done, the black square disappears and a killall-kstart
brings the compositor back to life.

The figure shows in 1) where the black square appears and 2) what to click

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Applications Dashboard
2. Click an icon
3. Crash ?


Expected Results:  
Open the application dashboard and launch the clicked icon.

This could be a GL problem, probably caused by the driver. The system is an
arch linux with the catalyst driver installed, xorg version freezed to 1.6.

It may be important to notice that the bug 362531
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362531) is also present, I issue killall
and kstart at each login.

I'm aware this is certainly a niche problem, and that the bug is unreproducible
exept randomly, I just hope this bug will help undertand others.

Here’s a “me too”, but already on Plasma 5.7.2, Frameworks 5.24.0 on Gentoo
Linux. I had a Gwenview crash and wanted to report it, drkonqi found one
related report and I selected it. I also tried it with manually entering a bug
number – the bug report is displayed in a new window and I click on [Associate
with bug report] (I use German GUI), and more nothing happens.

My assumption is that this bug only happens after the state previously got
corrupted by using the context menu elsewhere. This is not included in any of
the steps-to-reproduce, but I can't reproduce the problem otherwise, and
reading the code I can't see how it would happen otherwise - unless there's a
different Qt bug that causes mouse.buttons in MouseArea's clicked() handler to
be wrong, which is also possible.

I can confirm this bug, but only when you double click on a media file in the
file open dialog. If you simply press "Ok" instead, then nothing bad happens.
Looks as if the dialog double click somehow gets duplicated into Kdenlive's
main window. I'm updating the report title to signal it's still a present
issue.

kdenlivefriend, unfortunately, I cannot reproduce your issue on my Kubuntu
16.04 installation: the KDE help app starts correctly showing the Kdenlive
beginners guide. Is this bug still present? I suspect this to be a packager's
problem, rather than a Kdenlive project issue -- my rationale is that my
installation directly compiled from git master sources works as expected. If
you don't have any indication to the contrary, I would like to ask you to be so

I also experience wrong/missing icons for some buttons. I tried to highlight
them in the attached screenshot. 
Please note that I run kdenlive from gnome 3.20 desktop. 
I have a git version of kdenlive and breeze-icons. maybe I'm missing something
else from kde. I also installed kde from git.

I can confirm this behavior even for recent git master. I'm adding "git

After more than 8 hours of usage, if the desktop gets locked for inactivity and
stays for more than half an hour (or less, not sure), sddm freezes and I can't
enter the password, I can see the cursor in the input field but it's frozen
(not blinking). No matter what I do, I can't unlock it.

I can, however, move the mouse cursor (try to click on the input from each
display), and switch to another tty.

I've never been 8 (or more) hours continuously, so there are moments where the
desktop gets locked (for more than half an hour) and I can unlock it entering
the password.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just do whatever you do (work, play, watch videos, etc), but the computer
must be running for more than 8 hours (no matter if it gets locked once in a
while).
2. After said time passed, wait for half an hour without using it.
3. Move the mouse so the screen(s) turn on and try to enter your password.

Actual Results:  
You cannot enter your password, the inputs are frozen and there are no
reboot/shutdown buttons, so you have to reboot switching to another tty.

Expected Results:  
You should be able to enter your password and continue what you were doing.

I'm on Manjaro (Arch Linux) 16.01.1. OpenRC instead of Systemd. Linux 4.7.

System specs:
- Intel Core I5-4670k
- 8 GB of RAM (2x4)
- AMD R9 290 (video-ati)
- 3 monitor setup

I used freehand selection, so at least one person used it. Bet there was a few
more than no one. ;-) Looking forward to the image editor is completion.

To bad about the Section of Windows being dropped it was a great feature (in my
opinion at least). I used the Section of Window a lot, never had program that
it failed to work with. At any rate, Rectangular Region can substitute for
Section of Window, but it is not as convenient since you have to make
adjustments to get the section you want in the screenshot. No adjustment needed
with Section of Window. Thanks.

Also loks like an icon theme issue. Make sure that you have the Breeze icon
theme installed and activated. For dialog button clipping, please resize the
dialog or change the system font size. Obviously the buttons don't fit into the
available space, so you need to make room by resizing,  and if this is not
possible, by reducing system font size.

Hi,  thank you very much for your efforts to support HiDPI displays. A lot of
icons are of normal size now. However the track control buttons are still very
small for me. Please see the attached screenshot. They look OK @ 1920x1080, but
too small @2880x1620

As this feature works perfectly for me, there must be some missing information.
Is the file on a remote server? Are you using Plasma? Are you using Dolphin? Or
something else that could effect the situation?

This is an upstream packaging failure in the icon themes. Make sure that you've
installed and selected the breeze icon theme. With recent Kdenlive versions you
can now force the builtin Breeze icon theme.

With the recently fixed bug of multiple title clips disappearing during
expansion of a MLT/Kdenlive library clip I now see another bug that may be
caused by this fix: when a library clip has the same bin clip (image clip,
title clip) used multiple times in the timeline, then after expansion the bin
will hold multiple instances of the same image or title clip. Could this be a
producer identity issue during expansion?

This is especially unfortunate in case a title clip needs to be edited, then
all its clones need to be edited separately.

I would expect that all clones of the same image and title clip are being fused
into a single bin clip instance, instead of multiple clone clips.

speed effects on them? Anything with the paths to these clips? What kind of

It would be a very good idea if the full screen mode could be closed with the
escape key.

This is already mentioned in 269677. But I think this part of 269677 was
overlooked by the developers. I create this second bug because I imagine the
escape key behaviour can be implemented very easily and it is independent from
269677.

Ok so I decided to start with a new kde profile but before doing that, I
removed 2 folders in ~/.kde:

cache-
tmp-

There seems to be a big improvement:

1. plasmashell CPU process no longer takes a large amount of CPU ( at least
continuously )
2. I can no longer cause the issue when starting "About System"

The original problem still occurs though ( ie. plasmashell randomly crashing
and restarting ) and on 1 occasion I've received a crash report - as follows:

Qubodup, as there have been changes to the underlaying speed effect producer, I
would like to ask you if this problem still persists? Kdenlive has switched
from the old speed effect to the new timewarp producer that also supports
audio.
