[Bug 250780] New: KMail2 is unusable for many hours after migration from kmail 1 using Local Folders
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=250780 Summary: KMail2 is unusable for many hours after migration from kmail 1 using Local Folders Product: kmail Version: SVN trunk (KDE 4) Platform: Mandriva RPMs OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: shlo...@iglu.org.il Version: SVN trunk (KDE 4) (using Devel) OS:Linux After I fixed bug #250747 - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=250747 , with a lot of help form piggz on IRC, and set up the local folders, then KMail is spending many hours syncing collections of the different folders, several times for each folder (why?). Furthermore, it marks all the messages in all the folders as unread, despite the fact they had read flags in their headers set by KMail 1. I don't understand what this syncing means, but I know that it communicates with the Akonadi PostgreSQL backend and slowly fills up my /-partition. I still cannot properly use KMail despite having quit it and started it again. Why can't the KDE 4 people stop messing things up? [Bug 249683] Apparently, disabling the wrong module renders Kontact unresponsive. Requires killing.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=249683 --- Comment #4 from Borden Rhodes 2010 bordenrhodes com 2010-09-11 02:18:40 --- My initial assessment was incorrect. The problem is not with the Tip of the Day. Through a cumbersome, undocumented process, I eventually figured out that adding [TipOfDay] RunOnStart=false to my ~/.kde/share/config/kontactrc file could disable TotD but I was still left with an unresponsive Kontact which required force closing. I noticed when I started Kontact through bash that it spat out this line: unknown program name(4313)/ main: Unknown resource type: notes now leading me to believe that having disabled the KNotes module earlier has krashed Kontact because it can't find this module and, in a reasonable manner, now hangs instead of employing some intelligent exception handling. Since Kontact is *totally* unresponsive and clicking on anything does *nothing* can someone suggest how to re-enable the KNotes module through rc files? If I can do this, then I can appropriately report a bug in how Kontact does not handle module disabling correctly. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 250840] New: Kaddressbook hangs on one entry after going through suspend
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=250840 Summary: Kaddressbook hangs on one entry after going through suspend Product: kaddressbook Version: unspecified Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: r_m...@cox.net CC: to...@kde.org Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.2) OS:Linux Kaddressbook gets stuck on the last viewed entry. One can still select different entries, but it will not be reflected in display. Restart of kontact is required, after which kaddressbook opens on the newly selected entry. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: It happens after a long period of time of idleness, so I'm not sure what triggers the condition. It seems to only happen after the machine has gone through a suspend or screen saver. Eventually, it WILL freeze. Actual Results: Sofrtware freezes on last entry viewed.
