Summary: favourite folders are all shown that they are being
loaded on startup
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.0.89
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: m.w...@web.de

Version: 2.0.89 (using KDE 4.5.90)
OS:Linux

Favourite folders are all shown that they are being loaded on startup of kmail.
This takes quite some time and it does not seem to make sense for me,
especially since the content of these folders is not to be shown at once. So
the loading could wait until I open it like it happens with all the other
folders.

Reproducible: Always

Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.5.90)
OS:Linux

I am running KDE 4.6 RC1 with Kmail 4.6 Beta 3. I have disabled Nepomuk since
it slows Kmail so much down so that it is unusable. Kmail complains that
Nepomuk is not running at every startup. Turns out that something of nepomuk is
running anyway and that this something is consuming up to 20% of my systems
ressources. Actually there are three processes called akonadi_nepomuk. The
ressources consuming one was started via /usr/bin/akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder
--identifier akonadi_nepomuk_email_feeder.

This happens on three different systems (all with KDE compiled from source).

Seems related to the Akonadi resources so it could be caused by the
clock/calendar that now uses Akonadi for the reminders/events inside the
Calendar IIRC.

Instead of storing messages unencrypted, would it be better to store them
encrypted, but have KMail decrypt automatically on the fly when the message
is clicked? What bothers me is the fact that I have to type my passphrase for
each and every message that I click on, so I end up typing it a hundred times
when I go through my email. The problem is not the fact that it's stored
encrypted in the messages store. The problem is the user interaction. Also from
a security perspective it may be better to store them encrypted, because the
maildir folders could get hacked/stolen/etc. The *storing* in maildir folders
should always be encrypted, but the user should never have to type in the
passphrase repeatedly, for each and every message. gmail and yahoo mail decrypt
automatically, without requiring the user to type the passphrase.

Hej Ludwig,

still reproducible with latest version of KMail/Akonadi?
Might be caused by the 'nested imap folders are not removed correctly' bug that
you reported for kmail-mobile and that has been fixed in the meantime.

Ciao,
Tobias

Hej Sabine,

the Unamed files does not contain an email but a MDN message according to
RFC3798, which does not contain any subject, from or to header.
Is this just a misunderstanding?

[Bug 261806] New: may be missing localisation of special folders

2011-01-01 Thread m.wege
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=261806

Summary: may be missing localisation of special folders
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.0.89
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: m.w...@web.de

Version: 2.0.89 (using KDE 4.5.90)
OS:Linux

I am not sure if this is really a bug or that it is just not uptodate. But all
the special folders (trash, sent, drafts, junk, templates) in Kmail2 are not
translated into German. Since everything else in Kmail seems perfectly
translated I suspect that the special folders are not localised at all. Since I
am not a coder, I can not check this.

Reproducible: Didn't try

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.37-11-generic-pae
Compiler: cc

2011-01-01 Thread Thomas McGuire
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259591

--- Comment #6 from Thomas McGuire mcguire kde org 2011-01-01 19:54:53 ---
Ok, the problem is that the mail is incorrectly stored in the Akonadi database.
If you have a look at parttable, you'll see the ENVELOPE is stored as:
 (Thu, 23 Jul 2009 04:55:33 -0600 SPAM(20.2) =?UTF-
8?B?UmU6UG9wdWzvv71yZW4gUHJvZ3JhbW1lIGbvv71y?= PC und MAC ((Erfahrung der
Spezialisten NIL AnthonyLatham morelos.com)) NIL NIL ((NIL NIL sa_fi
gmx.net)) NIL NIL NIL wh4076vcvm...@omniscient.info NIL)

Whereas the HEAD and RFC822 payloads are stored as:
 [..]
Subject: SPAM(20.2) Re:Populären Programme für PC und MAC
 [..]

This is because SerializerPluginMail::serialize() actually parses the subject
in the ENVELOPE case, but not in the HEAD and RFC822 cases. Parsing here is
wrong, since it can't possible use the correct fallback charset.
Not quite sure what to do here, we need some way to get the raw header field
out of the mail, without any parsing.

--- Comment #7 from Thomas McGuire mcguire kde org 2011-01-01 20:16:23 ---
The mail is usually parsed before even passing it on to ItemCreateJob.
We still have the raw head of the mail though, which we could use for parsing
out the raw header field.
Normally, headers are parsed in KMime::Types::parseHeaders(), but that
interprets the header field already, while we need the raw value. We'd need
something similar to that, which gives us a list of raw header fields, and use
that in SerializerPluginMail::serialize()

I would add the Junk-Folder to that list. I know Kmail is not actively using
it, but such folders are being created by other programms and it is possible to
select the Junk-folder as spam-folder in Kmail. Then it should be localised
too.

At it should be not only the local folders (as in the above example), but also
the folders from an IMAP-resource.

2011-01-01 Thread Johannes Obermayr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258926

--- Comment #6 from Johannes Obermayr johannesobermayr gmx de 2011-01-01

There are now three files which contain 'sent-mail':

- kdepim/kmail-migrator.po[t]
- kdepim/kalarm.po[t]
- kdepimlibs/libakonadi-kmime.po[t]

I assume 'kmail-migrator' produce localized folders if you have a translated
'kmail-migrator.po' installed.
But what happens if you have not installed a translated 'kmail-migrator.po'
when migrating? - Yes. It will stay for ever in English ...
Or what happens when you change language?

Actually when I started kmail-migrator it was partially localised. Also the
migration did not go through to the end. May be also the reason why I have
Kmail Folders instead of Local Folders (which BTW I really would like to
change, so if someone has a hint).

the kdepim mailinglist.

Works for me in the Git master version, which uses webkit instead of KHTML.
In KMail 1 (your version), it simply uses KHTML, and the bug would need to be
fixed there, not in KMail.

I'm closing this bug as FIXED as it works in master. Thanks for investigating
this.

This wish is a very trivial wish. It is just one line:

file: kdepim/kaddressbook/mainwidget.cpp
function: setupGui()

// the items view
mItemView = new Akonadi::EntityTreeView();
mItemView-setObjectName( ContactView );
+mItemView-setAlternatingRowColors(true);

But I am not sure if it really looks better.
