not work anymore

Reproducible: Always

[Bug 262839] New: imap ioslave crashes while fetching mail (backtrace included)

2011-01-11 Thread Roy Dragseth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=262839

Summary: imap ioslave crashes while fetching mail (backtrace
included)
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.13.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: roy.drags...@uit.no

Version: 1.13.5 (using KDE 4.5.4)
OS:Linux

the imap_ioslave sometimes crashes or just ignore mails in my inbox hosted on a
courier imap server. I was able to capture the following backtrace by
attaching gdb to the imap ioslave, see the additional comments section.

o I'm able to reproduce the same error on a clean user account so I do not
think it is a personal config issue.
o Evolution works fine against the same server so I do not think it is a server
side issue either.
o Kmail works fine from my laptop, the only difference is that it runs 32bit
Fedora, while this problem is on my desktop that runs 64bit Fedora (a clue?).

Please let me know if I can provide any further info. (I've been using kmail
for many years, but is forced over to evolution until this is fixed, arrgghhh,
it is so cumbersome)

Best regards,
Roy.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Connect to an imap server and load a folder.

Actual Results:
A message box appears telling me that the imap ioslave had terminated.

Sometimes the ioslave crash, other times it ignores mail and sometimes mails
are listen with(No subject), Unknown sender and Unknown date.

Expected Results:
Should get new mail.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.x86_64

Hej,

this has been fixed now. The problem was that the collection selection dialog
didn't work properly, caused by a bug in Qt-on-WinCE.

Ciao,
Tobias

Does disabling the Special Dates module solve the issue ?

in the kontact settings, click on Summaries and uncheck the Special Dates
box

or directly in the config file (make sure Kontact is not running):
edit ~/.kde/share/config/kontact_summaryrc and delete all the occurences of
'kontact_specialdatesplugin' you find, save, run kontact

One more question: is Akonadi running ? (try to run kaddressbook, if you see
your contacts, it is)

kontact (4.4.9) on KDE Platform 4.5.5 (KDE 4.5.5) release 1 using Qt 4.7.2

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Trying to access Kontact settings.

- Custom settings of the application:
I disabled every module except the todo list, journal and the planner. This
was the first time I ran kontact on this instalation so everything had stock
settings.

[Bug 262764] kmail composer hangs whole kontact when writing mails

2011-01-11 Thread Marcel Meyer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=262764

--- Comment #6 from Marcel Meyer meyerm fs tum de 2011-01-11 14:06:33 ---
Thank you, I'll happily check.

While all my contacts are still available in KMail they are missing in
KAddressbook. Since my KOrganizer is also working normally, I didn't realize
that something is wrong. There is not even an addressbook shown on the left
column within KAdressbook, so your guess about a not running akonadi seems to
be quite good ;-)

In my resources system settings there was no addressbook either. I readded my
.vcf-file and set it as standard. This didn't help. I then choose to add a
new addressbook in KAddressbook and tried using the KDE Resource and my
.vcf as VCard file. Neither worked. So I guess this means KAddressbook is no
longer able to work without Akonadi at all?

I don't have any System Setting which contains the string akonadi. Since I
have no clue about Akonadi I finally chose to use the akonadi_console, removed
the duplicated entries and clicked restart. Nothing changed. I used the menu
Server-stop which was acknowledged by a notification saying the
correspondent applications won't work any longer. Shortly thereafter the
akonadi_console browser showed some data (including my addressbook)... Ook (why
after stoping...?), now KAddressbook shows the contacts again and kmail can
send mails again. So far, so good. Thank you.

I meanwhile updated to KDE 4.5.5 and now it looks like Akonadi is beeing
started automatically again.

But despite me not messing around with any Akonadi-settings myself (perhaps by
accident?), I thought that kmail 1.x is still Akonadi-free - why is it
affected by a missing Akonadi-daemon? And why is it then simply hanging instead
of complaining?

Thank you so far - I got a lot of mails to write ;-).

BTW: Should I prefer pasting long outputs inline over pastebins on b.k.o in the
future?

You're right, KMail in kdepim 4.4.9 doesn't use Akonadi. However, kaddressbook
does since 4.4.0.
That's why Akonadi *must* be running or anything that tries to access your
addressbook will hang forever (what you initially reported)

Side note: Always paste backtraces directly in the comments. That makes the
bugs triagers happy.

When using an external service to paste some text or pictures, you have no
guarantee that your data will be there forever.

Closing this report since everything is now working as expected.

[Bug 262743] Agentserver sometimes is defunctional after startup

2011-01-11 Thread Andre Heinecke
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=262743

--- Comment #5 from Andre Heinecke aheinecke intevation de 2011-01-11
16:43:16 ---
What i have also tested was to comment out all agents except for maildir. This
changed the behavior in the way that no agent was loaded in the beginning.

(Starting akonadi_agent_server after that starting akonadi)
When i then started KMail i got an error that the akonadi_contacts_ressource
was not available. Then i got a message that it would load the maildir ressouce
now and after that i got a DataAbort in qtcore.

I still get the same error with kmail 4.6 rc2 on Kubuntu 10.10 (Maverick)

Akonadi uses:
cat ~/.config/akonadi/agent_config_akonadi_maildir_resource_4
[Agent]
Online=true
Name=Local Folders

It's still not clear from the thread for me what the real problem is, and
especially how to fix the settings to get

a) the migration tool accept the resource
b) finally fix the migration tool ;)

Can anybody try to reproduce this issue with gpg4win-2.1.0-rc1?

I updated to 2.1.0-svn1192835 (2010-11-04). It seems that the number of handles
remains stable now.

(It's another issue, but the new Kleopatra crashes repeatedly.)

--- Comment #7 from Robert Gomulka rgom debian gmail com 2011-01-12 08:54:18

Hi all,
in my case the following upgrade:
[UPGRADE] kmail 4:4.4.7-0ubuntu1~lucid1~ppa2 - 4:4.4.8-0ubuntu0.0.1
caused exactly the same behaviour (new KMail version is 1.13.5)

For me workaround is:
1. Copy text from KMail to clipboard
2. Paste it to Openoffice Word
3. Select it in OpenOffice and copy to clipboard

Probably there's something simplier for that.
Then I have unformatted text again.
