[Bug 277530] Kmail encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. The error was: You do not have read/write access to your inbox folder

--- Comment #3 from Frits Spieker s pamme spiekerbros com 2011-09-07
07:34:52 ---
I got so sick and tired of this bug not being fixed, that I did a clean install
of opensuse, upgraded straight to 4.7.0 and imported the mail in
/home/username/Mail manually. It was still a pain in the proverbial donkey
(getting rid of non functional akanodi_whatevers and having to go into
akonadiconsole just to rename some top folders in KMail to something user
friendly like XS4ALL comes to mind) but at least now I have a working mail
system again. (Had temporarily gone to Claws).

I had a lot more comments, but decided to delete them because I don't want to
step on people's toes.

[Bug 281530] New: no longer possible to extract SpamAssassin-encapsulated message

2011-09-07 Thread Jonathan Marten
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=281530

Summary: no longer possible to extract
SpamAssassin-encapsulated message
   Product: kmail2
   Version: Git (master)
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: j...@keelhaul.me.uk

Created an attachment (id=63463)
 -- (http://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=63463)
Test message

Version: Git (master) (using Devel)
OS:Linux

SpamAssassin forwards suspected spam emails with a preview and description in
the message body, and the original message as an attachment of type
message/rfc822. Using KMail from KDE3, if a message was wrongly detected as
spam by SA it was possible to view the original message attachment by clicking
on it, and then use the viewer's context menu Copy Message To to move it back
into the inbox so recovering the original message.

Now it appears that this is no longer possible. Clicking on the attachment
prompts to either Save as, Open with KMail view or open with. Clicking
Open with Kmail view does a bit of disc activity and then puts up the message
box The file does not contain a message.

The attachment can be dragged to either the desktop or a Dolphin window, but
not to the inbox folder or anywhere else in Kmail (the no entry cursor is
shown).

RMB - View on the attachment opens it in a viewer window, but this has no
context menu so nothing can be done.

From the message structure viewer, RMB - View over the attachment does exactly
the same as above.

In the viewer, the Encapsulated message header appears to be a link, but
clicking on it or using RMB - Open URL does nothing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
View a message with a message/rfc822 attachment. Try to do something useful
with the attached message.

Actual Results:
Impossible to extract the encapsulated message.

Expected Results:
Should be possible to extract it, as in KDE3.

This is a local (not IMAP) maildir folder.

Attached is a test message that demonstrates this problem. It has been
sanitised for personal information and is safe to open. Your mission, should
you choose to accept it, is to get the original message into the inbox or any
other folder.

[Bug 281532] New: pressing Tab in subject entry box inserts a tab

2011-09-07 Thread Jonathan Marten
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=281532

Summary: pressing Tab in subject entry box inserts a tab
   Product: kmail2
   Version: Git (master)
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: j...@keelhaul.me.uk

Version: Git (master) (using Devel)
OS:Linux

If the Tab key is pressed in the composer's Subject entry box, a tab appears
to be inserted in the text. I'm not sure this is even allowed by RFC822 or
what happens when the message is sent, but for a single line entry field such
as this the expected action would be that the focus moves to the next widget.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open a composer window, move the cursor to the Subject entry box, then press
the Tab key.

Actual Results:
A tab character is inserted in the text (the cursor moves right some distance).

Expected Results:
The focus should just be moved to the next widget in sequence (the message edit
area).

Pressing Enter in the Subject entry box does move the focus to the message
edit area, as would be expected.

The Subject entry box popup menu has an Allow Tabulations option which
appears to be turned on by default. If this is turned off, Tab moves the focus
as would be expected. The sensible thing to do for this entry field would be
to force the option off and remove it from the popup menu (or at least disable
it).

[Bug 281552] New: Copying messages to mbox copies only headers, no body or attachments

2011-09-07 Thread subscryer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=281552

Summary: Copying messages to mbox copies only headers, no body
or attachments
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: subscr...@gmail.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

As per the summary, it's as simple as that. The mbox is small and doesn't
really have anything inside except the headers. If I used move instead of copy
I'd have lost my data.
Coupled with bug 276078 this one makes kmail2 prison of sorts, I'm utterly
unable to my messages elsewhere.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
I tried this twice, once it did work as expected, the other time it didn't.
1) create an mbox resource (not read only)
2) copy some messages to the resource
3) delete the resource
4) open the mbox file with thunderbird (actually copied it verbatim in it's
directory structure)

[Bug 275949] Unable to set Kmail as default email provider in Gnome

--- Comment #4 from David Faure faure kde org 2011-09-07 16:09:13 ---
The x-scheme-handler/mailto addition looks very much correct, since kmail can
take a mailto URL as argument.

However the message/rfc822 addition doesn't look correct, since passing a path
to a .eml file to kmail doesn't work, the command-line option --msg is
necessary for that. So this would require a different .desktop file with --msg
%f in the Exec line, but that wouldn't help using kmail as the default mailer
in gnome since you want to run kmail, not kmail --msg.

Seems to me that this is an oversight in the way that gnome control center
works. It cannot be assumed that we can just run the command for vieweing a
mail file, and run that same command without arguments in order to start the
full mail application.

Does it work ok if you only add the x-scheme-handler mimetype?

[Bug 281579] New: New E-Mails are never marked as unread

2011-09-07 Thread Kai Uwe Broulik
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=281579

Summary: New E-Mails are never marked as unread
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: k...@privat.broulik.de

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

Whenever I get a new E-Mail, they are not marked as unread at all. Since
filtering of E-Mails miracuously works, they are sorted in their respective
folder but you never know if there are any new mails there. (Also, the New
mail notification was disabled by default)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Send yourself an E-Mail or get an E-Mail by somebody else

Actual Results:
The mails appear in inbox when Akonadi was looking for mail but they are not
marked as unread

Expected Results:
The new mails must be marked as unread.

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:Linux

I don’t know who thought it was a good idea to have error messages that are
triggered by background services are (modal) message boxes.
Whenever there is an error with something and even if it is just a temporary
thing, you will get a message box. Luckily we have KWin’s focus stealing
prevention.
Make *all* those nasty warning, error, whatever dialogs passive notifications
that appear in systray and that you can deal with or leave them.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Do something that triggers an error, for example turn off network and fetch
e-mails or enter a wrong password

Actual Results:
An annoying message box appears stating that something went wrong

Expected Results:
A passive popup notification appears stating that something went wrong but that
does not force you to deal with it (by closing it or whatever)

I've only tried it once so far, but I've just updated to 4.7.1, and now kmail
does seem to be correctly popping up the request for access to kwallet and send
on the first try. Perhaps this is now fixed in 4.7.1?

49 error notifications from akonadi

OK. I have akonadi configured to check mail every 30 minutes and about 10
mailboxes on different servers. When there is a network problem, and akonadi
can't connect to servers it starts flooding my desktop with error
notifications. Just imagine how many windows it can open if I leave it for 8
hours with no network :)
