I thought that kmail did already pick the correct appp since if you click on an
attachment the dialoge that opens has save as open with libre office open
with… cancel.

Opening the file from dolphin does work as expected.

I think this regression was introduced only some days/a week ago, since 4.7.2 +
akonadi 1.6.2 did not suffer from this. Only after the packages I use got their
last branch update (maybe a week before 4.7.3) it started.

You skipped the first question, the one about the mail headers.

But you're right, I hadn't noticed that in your description, the app name on
the button is actually correct... Very weird.

Can you forward me the email, maybe? (As an attachment)

Sorry for skipping that bit.

If it's avoidable I would like to not forward that email since its content is
confidential. I could create a test mail with some docx file though if the
headers are not enough.

[Bug 286180] New: kio_smtp uses extreme cpu time when sending mail on Windows

2011-11-09 Thread Andre Heinecke
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286180

Summary: kio_smtp uses extreme cpu time when sending mail on
Windows
   Product: kio
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: MS Windows
OS/Version: MS Windows
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: smtp
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: aheine...@intevation.de

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:MS Windows

The kio_smtp shows a bug on Windows (which might well lie in the layers below)
that it is extremly slow.
When sending a mail with the akonadi_maildispatcher agent it takes ~33seconds
until it is sent.

The slow step according to debug output lies between the following lines
debug output:

[5428] Debug:kio_smtp(5428)/kssl KIO::TCPSlaveBase::connectToHost: , Socket
state: 3 Socket error: 0 , Connection succeeded: true
--- 33 seconds pause at 100% cpu --
5428] Debug:kio_smtp(5428)/kssl KTcpSocket::showSslErrors: The issuer
certificate of a locally looked up certificate could not be found

When Switching to TLS:
[5548] Debug:kio_smtp(5548) SMTPProtocol::getResponse: S:  220 2.0.0 Ready to
start TLS
--- 32 second pause at 100% cpu ---
[5548] Debug:kio_smtp(5548)/kssl KTcpSocket::showSslErrors: The issuer
certificate of a locally looked up certificate could not be found

Test was done on a server with a self signed certifcate with the root
certifcate not installed but certificate errors ignored.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Kmail on Windows and configure an smtp server.
2. Send a mail.
3. Look at cpu usage

Actual Results:
kio_smtp uses one core at 100% for 33 seconds and then sends the mail

Expected Results:
The mail should be sent more quickly

text/plain is probably the text body of the email. The attachment is further
down.
I should have said MIME headers of the attachment rather than mail headers,
my bad.

Yes, you can also just email me a test .docx file, but your kmail might do the
right thing so it might just work. Well, we'll see :)

Same here with KMail 1.13.7.

$ gpg
gpg: /home/diego/.gnupg/gpg.conf:5: argument not expected
gpg: /home/diego/.gnupg/gpg.conf:6: invalid option

because I have:
$ cat .gnupg/gpg.conf
# GnuPG config file created by KGpg

###+++--- GPGConf ---+++###
utf8-strings
debug-level basic
log-file socket:///home/diego/.gnupg/log-socket
keyserver hkp://keys.gnupg.net
###+++--- GPGConf ---+++### mar 18 gen 2011 15:33:08 CET
# GPGConf edited this configuration file.
# It will disable options before this marked block, but it will
# never change anything below these lines.

Commenting debug-level and log-file line fixes the problem. Can anybody check
the problem with KMail 2?

(In reply to comment #4)
Those are valid options for GPG2, but not GPG. Developer should either upgrade
Kleopatra and Kgpg to gnupg2. Or downgrade kwatchgnupg which isn't a good
 idea.

In my opinion GPG and GPG2 should be mutually exclusive which is GPG
 developers
 failure.

This is not a kwatchgnupg bug, but indeed should be fixed.

Well, gpg2 command is gpgv2, while kdepim hardcodes gpg:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=630249#c8

Is this fixed in newer versions?

[Bug 286186] New: Akregator crashes when closing tabs

2011-11-09 Thread Wonko
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286186

Summary: Akregator crashes when closing tabs
   Product: akregator
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: wo...@wonkology.org

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

Akregator often crashes when I close a tab. I think this started when I
upgraded to 4.7.3, it did not happen with 4.7.2. BTW, the Application Version
dropdown list is missing version number 4.7.3.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Just open some articles in tabs, and close them.

Actual Results:
For about 2/3 of the tabs, Akregator crashes. It seems that when the session is
restored at the next start, those tabs that made Akregator crash when closing
them, will do this again. Those that did not crash Akregator, will not.

Expected Results:
The tabs should just close.

DrKonqui says the backtrace is not useful. Here it is anyway. I'm a Gentoo
user, so if someone tells me what stuff I should recompile with debug
information, I can do that.

The problem starts after I get the following in the edbug output. I can
reproduce it by clicking on a folder within a mixed_maildir_resource which
itself contains files and sub-folders.

Could it be that akonadi is looking for filenames which do not exist because
the emails are stored in an mbox file?

[Bug 286196] New: No mail receipt on a fresh installed openSUSE 12.1 and KDE 4.7.2 -- no crash

2011-11-09 Thread Frans Leerink
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286196

Summary: No mail receipt on a fresh installed openSUSE 12.1 and
KDE 4.7.2 -- no crash
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 1.99.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: f.leer...@xs4all.nl

Version: 1.99.0 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

Hello,

I made a new install of openSUSE 12.1-RC2 and KDE 4.7.2 All used partions are
newly formatted, so no previous data to convert.

1 I can send mails after initial configuration.
2 I can make new entries in address book
3 I cannot receive mails send to me from external systems nor mails created
via point 1. In the beginning I saw some notion in the system message
corner ( 0 %) but after resolving the password issue with KWallet I do
not see any sign from the system upon clicking the check(receive) mail
button and also no received mails. In the receive mail configuration I
  have set the following:
a In receiving tab:
Account: Receiving Frans -- off-line -- with detais:
   Account name: Receiving Frans
   Incoming mail server:pop.xs4all.nl
   Username: xxx
   Password: yyy via kwallet
Destination Folder: inbox from Local Folders
   Port:110
Account: Local Folders -- Ready with information about:
   Mail Dir: /home/frans/.local/share/local-mail/

How can I get account Receiving Frans from the off-line stage to ready. In the
file menu there is an entry activated with work off-line. If I deactivate this
and go again in the file menu and click check mail(receive) a pop-up window
askes to work on-line or off-line. Clicking on-line generates the following
message in the msg window:

Kmail is set to work on line, all network jobs resumed.

The file menu again shows works off-line entry activated ?

What is wrongly set, please advice

Regards, Frans

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Try to receive mail

Actual Results:
No mail received

Expected Results:
received mail

OS: Linux (i686) release 3.1.0-1.1-default
Compiler: gcc

[Bug 237646] Cannot set the return to address in kontact/kmail

--- Comment #2 from MuH4hA MuH4hA gmail com 2011-11-09 16:18:11 ---
The actual problem is NOT the return address. I had the same problem right now
on an openSUSE 11.3 with kmail version 1.13.6 (KDE 4.6.00).

The problem seems to be, that after setting up kmail, the Identity has no
email-address (Edit Identiy - General - Email Adress). The error message is
about this empty field.
You probably ignored it, went straight to (Edit Identiy - Advanced) and got
the error message after filling out the reply-to-address. But it's about the
general mail-address of your identity, which is probably still an empty string.

regards,
Ingo

will not return and would explain why the current behavior is wrong.
I wrote above that the RFC suggest a behavior that is different from what the
patch introduces.
I asked for a testcase, the developer of the patch refused it at first, and as
I cannot reproduce the bug, I didn't commit it.
And with time I forgot about it... Unfortunately right now I don't have time to
create a testcase myself that reproduce the bug and verify the patch, so help
is still welcome.

--- Comment #5 from tasbeak googlemail com 2011-11-09 22:22:23 ---
The dynamic word wrap functionality worked fine for me in the previous
releases. I used it heavily because I need to send long URLs. And the URLs
always worked on the receiving sides. I can confirm that the long URLs were
sent WITHOUT line breaks when I enabled dynamic word wrapping.

It is really a pity that the dynamic word wrap is not existing anymore in the
recent version of the kmail2 composer. This forces me to use an external
editor, which supports dynamic word wrap. A really inconvenient work-around and
not really what I expect from an email composer.

Are you sure that your problems with long URLs really originated in dynamic
word wrap? Every simple text editor (also qt based, such as kate) provides
dynamic word wrap in the windows without introducing actual line breaks in the
files...

I'd appreciate, if you rethought your decision and enabled dynamic word
wrapping again. I agree with Danny that this is an issue for many people.

It's not a bug.
You had a dialog box which informs you that you didn't specify subject.
= you check button box to specify that you don't want to see it and put a
subject.
So after that you will not see the dialogbox.

go to configurate-security-misc- reactivate all warning.

I am getting this:
There were problems trying to queue the message for sending: Append failed

after upgrading from 4.7.2 to 4.7.3 on Gentoo

I can send 1 sometimes 2 messages then I get this error, I can logout of KDE

I am pleading for my sanity here, if there is a known patch for this please
attach it to this bug.

Thanks.

[Bug 286235] New: confusing error-message when there is no mail-address specified for the identity

2011-11-09 Thread MuH4hA
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286235

Summary: confusing error-message when there is no mail-address
specified for the identity
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: config dialog
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: muh...@gmail.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

When there is no valid mail-address specified in
configure-identity-general-email-address field, the following error-message
appears:

The email address you entered is not valid because it does not seem to contain
an actual email address, i.e. something of the form j...@example.org.

This is confusing, cause some people when setting up kmail for the first time
on a system, just skip the 'general'-section to specify a reply-to-address in
'advanced'. They get the message, that their mail-address is not valid, which
can be quit confusing.

Admittedly, it doesn't take much to figure out the real problem, but this
behavior has confused at least a handful of people. (See bugs 237646 and 280151
for example).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open the big configure dialog - Modify/Edit an Identity - klick OK while
the 'email address' field in the 'general'-section does not contain a valid
mail-addy.

Actual Results:
kmail prints the following error-message:

The email address you entered is not valid because it does not seem to contain
an actual email address, i.e. something of the form j...@example.org.

Expected Results:
It would be great, if either the error-message contained the information about
what field actually causes the problem, or if there would just be no
error-message at all.
(you will be reminded of entering a mail-address at some point anyway - if I am
not mistaken..)

Patch to add hide read feeds feature

As many have pointed out, this is NOT a duplicate of 106921. That being said,
here is a patch against the current head that adds this feature. I've been
running it for a week or so now and no issues have cropped up, so I figured I'd
submit it. You can access the new option from the View menu, or in the General
panel of the config dialog. Please let me know of any bugs or additions you'd
like if something is missing.
