[Bug 289339] New: Sending mail with BCC recipients sends the BCC header to all recipients

2011-12-19 Thread John Zaitseff
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289339

Summary: Sending mail with BCC recipients sends the BCC header
to all recipients
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: j.zaits...@zap.org.au

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

Sending an e-mail in KMail 4.7.4 (and possibly in earlier versions) with BCC
recipients sends an e-mail with the BCC header included to all recipients.
This is quite a bad breach of privacy, as it allows all recipients (including
BCC and non-BCC recipients) to see who was on the BCC list!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new e-mail (New Message).
2. Set the To field to, say, te...@example.com, and the BCC field to, say,
te...@example.com (real e-mail addresses should be used).
3. Send the e-mail.
4. Read the e-mail sent to either te...@example.com or te...@example.com.

Actual Results:
The BCC field is part of the e-mail sent to both te...@example.com and
te...@example.com.

Expected Results:
The BCC field should NEVER be sent as part of an e-mail, although it SHOULD be
stored in the locally-saved version in the sent-mail folder.

The Steps to Reproduce were performed on both my normal account (which has
been using KDE for a number of major releases), as well as a test account which
was completely fresh: no .kde/.local/.config directories.

I suspect the bug might be in akonadi_maildispatcher_agent, but that is just a
wild guess...

[Bug 289342] New: Akonadi server should shut down automatically if idle

2011-12-19 Thread Jonathan Marten
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289342

Summary: Akonadi server should shut down automatically if idle
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: server
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: j...@keelhaul.me.uk

Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS:Linux

One the Akonadi server has been started by any PIM application, it continues to
run even if all PIM applications are closed. This not only uses system
resources (which may be important on small devices), but also means that the
PIM data continues to be accessed even if the user is not expecting it.

For example, a user may exit KMail in the expectation that they can go to
another computer, or to a webmail system, and access any mail that subsequently
arrives from there. However, Akonadi will still continue to fetch POP3 mail in
the background at the configured interval.

This also has implications for backup, Akonadi needs to be shut down to ensure
that the state on disc is consistent but again exiting all PIM applications is
not sufficient to do this.

The Akonadi server should be configurable with the option to shut down
automatically if it is idle. Obviously stopping and starting the server takes
time, so there should be an idle time (e.g. 1 minute) so that this does not
happen unnecessarily.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Start a PIM application, then exit it.

Actual Results:
Observe that Akonadi continues to run.

Expected Results:
See above.

[Bug 289347] New: KMail segfaults after forwarding SMIME encrypted mail inline

2011-12-19 Thread d.matscheko
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289347

Summary: KMail segfaults after forwarding SMIME encrypted mail
inline
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.7.2
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: d.matsch...@gmail.com

Application: kontact (4.7.2)
KDE Platform Version: 4.7.2 (4.7.2)
Qt Version: 4.7.4
Operating System: Linux 3.0.0-14-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 11.10

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Right-click on an SMIME encrypted mail.
Select Forward - Inline... .
[KMail crashes]
After restarting Kontact or KMail, an empty Composer window appears
additionally to the application window.

- What SMIME encrypted mails produced this error:

* Most encrypted mails can be forwarded inline without problems, but the bad
ones always create the segfault.

* The bad ones seem to be created with a recent version of MS Outlook 2007,
all other mails seem to work perfectly.

* Forwarding of signed (not encrypted) or plaintext mails received from Outlook
2007 also works without errors.

* Forwarding of encrypted Outlook 2010 mails also works without errors.

* There seems to be a second issue where attachments in encrypted mails created
with Outlook 2007 can not be opened. It might be related (because of the recent
version of Outlook 2007 as sender) but i found no bug reports concerning this.
Also, attachments are irrelevant to reproduce this Forward - Inline... bug.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

I am hit by this bug anytime I am changing preferences of the sending account.
Specifically, in some networks I need to change the transport protocol from SSL
to TSL. Anytime I do that I get the Kwallet integration issue. Maybe the
kwallet sees conflict in properties of the account?

So it's ok.

  Q_ASSERT( item.hasPayloadMessage::Ptr() );
  const Message::Ptr message = item.payloadMessage::Ptr();
  if( message-hasHeader( Bcc ) ) {
message-removeHeader( Bcc );
message-assemble();
  }

So we can close it

As I've mentioned, I'm running that code, but it doesn't seem to be working.
Could you possibly try reproducing the bug on your end (ie, send a quick e-mail
to yourself and, say, me as BCC, and see if the BCC header is removed. It may
be that the code you've quoted isn't called for some reason.

Nope, kdepim-runtime does not have the appropriate haveHeader() or
removeHeader() lines either. Could you give me a hint as to which source file
I should be looking at?

Although the Debian/Ubuntu changelog states they are using 4.7.4, I'm wondering
whether they are, in fact, doing so. I think I'll file a bug with Ubuntu...

Perhaps you can ask to ubuntu to update branch.

Now distro must update branch (I still continue to backport fix to 4.7 branch
but it's right it will not have a 4.7.5...)

[Bug 289342] Akonadi server should shut down automatically if idle

2011-12-19 Thread Jonathan Marten
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289342

--- Comment #2 from Jonathan Marten jjm keelhaul me uk 2011-12-19 14:05:53
---
I don't think the comparison is quite fair. Certainly the latter two of those
that you mention provide essential system services that need to operate
regardless of what the user is doing - or even when no user is logged in. It
could be argued that CUPS could stop when idle - but it needs to run as root in
order to perform some of its functions and therefore there may be problems in
starting/stopping it on user demand.

Akonadi, on the other hand, requires no privileges and provides access to the
user's data (whether local or remote) at the user's request when using PIM
applications (the Plasma calendar counts as one of those). If the user is not
using the application, there is no need for Akonadi to remain active, and there
could even be data integrity problems if it continues to access the data or
remote resources even when the user is not expecting it to. In my example of
continuing to access POP3 mail after KMail has exited, this could lead to
emails being fetched and stored where the user is not expecting them to go -
which is only a step away from data loss.

On the question of the system resources used by Akonadi this is surely not the
first time that this has been raised, but just for illustration:

akonadi_control1.0M
mysqld46.1M
akonadiserver3.4M
akonadi_agent_launcher2.6M
akonadi_kdeaccounts_resource9.3M
akonadi_agent_launcher4.6M
akonadi_maildispatcher_agent4.4M
akonadi_mailfilter_agent5.7M
akonadi_pop3_resource8.2M
akonadi_vcarddir_resource3.0M

cupsd912K

(Reported by KDE System Activity in the Mem column. No PIM applications
running, KMail configured for Local Folders + 1 POP3 fetch, KAddressBook with 2
resources, Nepomuk Email Indexer turned off. So Akonadi is using nearly 100
times the memory of CUPS.)

I can confirm this bug. The problem is -- line. Here are details:
https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=24624

Initially I thought that it is enigmail bug, not kmail. I think it could be
simply fixed just by forcing base64 encoding for such messages.

[Bug 289364] New: Kmail incorreclty reports openpgp signature verification if subkey is used for signing (encrypted+signed mails)

2011-12-19 Thread Stanislav Sidorenko
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289364

Summary: Kmail incorreclty reports openpgp signature
verification if subkey is used for signing
(encrypted+signed mails)
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: crypto
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: m...@stanislavsidorenko.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

Here is an example of incorrect report:

Encrypted message
Message was signed on 19.12.11 21:29 with unknown key
0x18FCD1311DCF84834BED9F857027404925B7C18D.
The validity of the signature cannot be verified.
Status: Good signatureHide Details
Test: Signed, Encrypted
End of signed message
End of encrypted message

In fact 0x25B7C18D key is a signing subkey of my main key 0x46EB581F. As far as
I understood kmail does not identify mail only if combined method described in
p 6.2 of RFC 3156 is used for encryptedsigned mails. For example, combined
method is used by Enigmail Thunderbird extension.

If non-conbined method is used then all will be displayed correctly, in this
case kmail identifies main key by subkey.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Send encryptedsinged PGP/MIME email message e.g. using Thunderbird +
Enigmail to yourself. Use a key that has a signing subkey and ensure that
subkey used for signing.
2. Try to decrypt and verify the signature.

Actual Results:
Encrypted message
Message was signed on 19.12.11 21:29 with unknown key
0x18FCD1311DCF84834BED9F857027404925B7C18D.
The validity of the signature cannot be verified.
Status: Good signatureHide Details
Test: Signed, Encrypted
End of signed message
End of encrypted message

Expected Results:
Encrypted message
Message was signed by mail@.com (Key ID: 0xA0F213F146EB581F).
The signature is valid and the key is fully trusted.Hide Details
Test: Signed, Encrypted

Looks like Yandex's IMAP is completely full of bugs, ever when using it with
such popular clients like Thunderbird. I switched to GMail several days ago.

Nope, I upgraded today and KMail2 does not show any folder, though it happily
connects and sync my two IMAP resources. As soon as I have solved this new,
more severe problem (or filed another bug), I will retest this issue.

   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: nat...@paysonlinux.org

Created an attachment (id=66914)
 -- (http://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=66914)
Exact code copied out of the email

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

I have multiple daily logwatch logs sent to my email address in html format.
The html messages use css for table coloring, but the css is not recognized or
used when viewing the messages in kmail.

I have viewed the source of the email message and saved all the html into a
separate file called logwatch.html and viewed it in Konqueror and it renders
properly.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
All logwatch messages in html format will produce the incorrect output via
kmail.

Expected Results:
The table heading backgrounds should be colored as per the inline css.

The attachment here is the exact html code copied from the email. I have only
stripped out the details pertaining to my servers, but the offending contents
are there.

(In reply to comment #1)
How do you import it ?

With kmail import procedure, the problem is that the system recognizes the file
incorrectly. If you try to check the file with right-click, properties, one is
email format and one txt format.

[Bug 281797] kmail2/akonadi handels maildir incorrect

--- Comment #4 from Johannes Hirte johannes hirte fem tu-ilmenau de
2011-12-20 00:19:13 ---
Still an issue with KDE SC 4.7.4. For example, I've fetched some mail via pop3.
They were stored in the local inbox folder in the new/ directory. When reading
them they were marked as read but stayed in the new/ direcotry. And this seems
to be a problem. When I've tried to move them (in this case by marking them as
spam manually), I got an error that this messages couldn't be moved. Marking
them as unread and after this as read again, they were moved to the correct
cur/ directory and now moving worked.

Kmail2 is really unusable with this behavior.

--- Comment #5 from Johannes Hirte johannes hirte fem tu-ilmenau de

Surprisingly, with other filters it works. The mails that were moved by filters
on fetch time into different folders are moved to the correct cur/ directory
when I read them.
A second test with inbox also worked. The mail is moved into the cur/ directory
when read. When marking it as spam, the mail is moved into the designated spam
folder and there into the new/ directory, where it stays. Also moving them from
the spam folder to trash puts them into the new/ directory there and not into
cur/.

[Bug 284386] kmail2 compose word wrap on window boarder not working

 CC||brag...@gmail.com

--- Comment #8 from botan bragovo gmail com 2011-12-20 06:51:43 ---
This issue not fixed!

I think KMail use static wordwrap instead dynamic. For example:
1. http://wstaw.org/m/2011/12/20/snapshot105.png kate don't breaks text lines!

2. http://wstaw.org/m/2011/12/20/snapshot106.png - Message from first snapshot
looks perfectly in gmail, kmail .. everywhere!

3. Reply message without wordwrap http://wstaw.org/m/2011/12/20/snapshot108.png
and with wordwrap http://wstaw.org/m/2011/12/20/snapshot109.png
And the result: http://wstaw.org/m/2011/12/20/snapshot110.png

4. After about 5 replies or more our quote looks like shit -
http://wstaw.org/m/2011/12/20/snapshot111.png - THIS IS WRONG! Wordwrap must
change only how message display, but not change original message and add new
line symbol.

By the way, Kate have 2 options: http://wstaw.org/m/2011/12/20/snapshot112.png
Dynamic wordwrap in Appearance section and Static wordwrap in Editing
section. Dynamic wordwrap it is only APPEARANCE!

Hi Jens,

Unfortunately I don't have an Exchange server to reproduce this issue, so I'll
ask you to do work a bit :)

Can you give me what you see exactly in Davmail logs (i.e. how are the accents
sent over)?

Cheers,
Grégory
