[Bug 283682] KMail duplicates filtered messages

2012-02-25 Thread Geoffrey Clements
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283682

--- Comment #16 from Geoffrey Clements geoff electron me uk 2012-02-25

(In reply to comment #9)
 Hej all,

can you please check whether akonadi reports some errors regarding the target
folders you try to move the mails to, about a missing remote id?
You can also use akonadiconsole and check the folder properties on the
'internal' tab to find out the remote id.

Tobias,

I have checked a number of times now in akonadiconsole, the debugger does not
show any error messages when the messages are duplicated. Please note however
that the duplicated messages are the ones that are /not/ moved because they do
not meet any filter criteria. The messages that are moved by the filters are
not duplicated.

[Bug 283682] KMail duplicates filtered messages

2012-02-25 Thread Matthias Nagel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283682

--- Comment #17 from Matthias Nagel matthias nagel stud uni-karlsruhe de
2012-02-25 10:02:23 ---
Opposed to comment #16 the mails that are moved are duplicated with me.

Even mails that are not moved by a filter but that are move manually (drag and
drop) are duplicated. Mails that are moved to the bin folder by hitting DEL
are duplicated, too. In all three cases the mail re-appears in the original
folder after some period of time. The problem can be avoid by copying the mail
to the destination folder and then purge the original mail from the source
folder by hitting Shift+DEL. This work-around also applies to the filter. If
I create two filter actions - copy mail first, then purge the original -
everything is fine.

And in all three cases there is no error report in the akonadiconsole.

if your are on gentoo perhaps you can compile kdepim-*-4.8.x akonadi-1.7
We made a lot of improvment so it will better to test with new version.
4.7.x is unsupported now.

[Bug 286553] Kmail signed emails invalid in Thunderbird w/ Enigmail

--- Comment #6 from Kalidarn dcecchin gmail com 2012-02-25 11:21:11 ---
I don't think encoding text emails in base64 is really all that much the best
idea, because it will cause those emails to be bigger. As far as I know
Thunderbird doesn't do that.

It does seem to be a standard and not just something Thunderbird does, if you
look at https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3676#page-9 or
http://lipas.uwasa.fi/~ts/http/signatur.html

Encoding text emails with base64 will also trigger spam filters on various
servers, or at very least increase it's point rating.

[Bug 294447] akonadi_nepomuk_feeder and akonadi_mailfilter_agent memory leak

2012-02-25 Thread Ilya Potapov
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=294447

--- Comment #2 from Ilya Potapov danaivehr gmail com 2012-02-25 12:15:18 ---
For now i changed StartServer to false in ~/.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc to
prevent start of akonadi server.
So, steps to reproduce are:
If i simply turn it back to true and reboot or just start something like
kmail or simply click start server in akonadi tray icon menu, akonadi server
starts, and, as i wrote, this cause fast memory usage grow every time.

I do not actually know if it is memory leak, but just after server start CPU
goes to 100% and amount of memory used by akonadi_nepomuk_feeder and
akonadi_mailfilter_agent starts to grow very fast. I can see it with htop or
ksysguard. In two minutes RAM is over and system starts swapping a lot, i
experience perfomance issues and freezes, and only way i found is to kill that
to processes and to stop akonadi server to prevent restarting of that
processes.

I can definetly say that this behaviour is abnormal.

Please, tell me, how can i provide any usfull information. I will do it with
pleasure.

That procecesses not crashing and i thus can not provide any crash backtrace.
Maybe i should install any additional debugging packages and use them somehow.
But i just do not know how.

[Bug 294568] Tools=Find Messages does not seem to work as before

OK, I've taken the action you suggested, namely to install KDE 4.8. but it did
not have the slightest effect on the issue I raised.
(I'm running Fedora-16, and upgraded from Rex Dieter's fedora-kde48.repo.)

So may I ask you in return if you would mind reading my original query, and
letting me know, (a) If KMail=Tools=Find Messages is meant to work in the way
I supposed, and (b) If it does work in this way for you.

To save you time, these were my original queries:
-
As I recall, KMail=Tools=Find Messages
used to search through the currently opened folder (eg Inbox)

Now it seems to search through all folders,
which in my case means tens of thousands of emails.

Also, it says at the bottom 0 matches in Last Search
even though it has found dozens of matches.

Also, most of the searches (eg From) do not seem to work properly.

Same problem here.
I tried to restart the server (mysqld) from akonadiconsole, but it failed.
Then I had to kill the mysqld process form console to be able to restart the
server (from akonadiconsole). After this, mail receiving went normal.

[Bug 294447] akonadi_nepomuk_feeder and akonadi_mailfilter_agent memory leak

Process 8218 - kmail

Summary

The process kmail (with pid 8218) is using approximately 4.1 GB of memory.
It is using 4.1 GB privately, and a further 16.8 MB that is, or could be,
shared with other programs.
Dividing up the shared memory between all the processes sharing that memory we
get a reduced shared memory usage of 1666.0 KB. Adding that to the private
usage, we get the above mentioned total memory footprint of 4.1 GB.
70.3 MB is swapped out to disk, probably due to a low amount of available
memory left.
Library Usage

The memory usage of a process is found by adding up the memory usage of each of
its libraries, plus the process's own heap, stack and any other mappings, plus
the stack of its 3 threads.
