[kmail2] [Bug 356077] New: kmail5 / akonadi5 very often crashes on startup

2015-11-29 Thread Johannes Obermayr via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356077

Bug ID: 356077
Summary: kmail5 / akonadi5 very often crashes on startup
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: johannesoberm...@gmx.de

Application: kmail (5.0.3)

Qt Version: 5.5.1
Operating System: Linux 4.4.0-rc2-1.g7eabae5-default x86_64
Distribution: "openSUSE Tumbleweed (20151126) (x86_64)"

-- Information about the crash:
When this problem occurs I can "fix" it with "akonadictl restart" on konsole
and then calling kmail again.
But that's only a workaround and the problem should be handled automatically

Trying to restart akonadi server via control module doesn't work.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

-- Backtrace:
Application: KMail (kmail), signal: Segmentation fault

[Akonadi] [Bug 317468] kmail / akonadiserver / mysqld uses a lot of ressources even in idle time

2013-09-17 Thread Johannes Obermayr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=317468

--- Comment #1 from Johannes Obermayr johannesoberm...@gmx.de ---
I had some time to debug:
- 4.10.5 from openSUSE:12.3:Update works
- 4.11.x and master didn't:
  - kmail's message window freezes after ~ 3 to 5 messages
  - akonadiconsole - Browser is really fast and doesn't freeze

I found Bug 323740#c6. So I checked my system
~/.local/share/.local-mail.directory/.inbox.directory/
~/.local/share/.local-mail.directory/.Posteingang.directory/
(2nd was introduced by kmail-migrator [Bug 258926#c6])

moved all from localized .Posteingang.directory to default .inbox.directory and
removed Posteingang (~ 30,000 emails via akonadiconsole - Browser)

kmail is now really fast.

kmailcvt doesn't work with it ?
Currently you must convert in mbox format like described here:

2013-03-27 Thread Johannes Obermayr

Bug ID: 317468
Summary: kmail / akonadiserver / mysqld uses a lot of

Classification: Unclassified

OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Opening a message in kmail requires a lot of time after updating openSUSE 12.3
KDE:Unstable:SC from a ~ 2 months to a ~ 1 week old snapshot.

'top' shows kmail / akonadiserver / mysqld are using a lot of ressources even
in idle trime:

[kmail2] [Bug 290886] kmail2/composer: Add field for 'In-Reply-To'

2013-02-04 Thread Johannes Obermayr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=290886

--- Comment #8 from Johannes Obermayr johannesoberm...@gmx.de ---
I don't need a screenshot for it. Current git master:

http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kdepim.gita=blobf=kmail/kmcomposewin.cpp:
  mEdtReplyTo = new MessageComposer::ComposerLineEdit( true, mHeadersArea );
  mEdtReplyTo-setObjectName( replyToLine );
  mEdtReplyTo-setRecentAddressConfig(
MessageComposer::MessageComposerSettings::self()-config() );
mEdtReplyTo-setToolTip( i18n( Set the \Reply-To:\ email address for this
message ) );

I assume we are speaking about different things ...

I want to specify a In-Reply-To: (note: 'In-' prefix) to tell which mail ID
is predecessor of the mail I am writing and build up a new message in a thread
this way - not to tell the recipient to which email address to answer (your
assumption).

If you open mail header you see it in sth. like:
Message-ID: bug-290886-118838-j2qot9e...@http.bugs.kde.org/
In-Reply-To: bug-290886-118...@http.bugs.kde.org/

If I am answerring to this mail: In-Reply-To = Message-ID
Message-ID: new_Message-ID
In-Reply-To: bug-290886-118838-j2qot9e...@http.bugs.kde.org/

If you can really input/change my requested 'In-Reply-To:' please provide a
screenshot. I cannot find it on git master.

 Ah in-reply-to!
 But who customize it ?

I want to do it sometimes:
Mailing list example:
1. Person A - Person B, mailing list
2. Person B - Person A
3. Person A - Person B, mailing list (new thread starts on mailing list
because 2. is not there)

it's an advanced feature no ?
I didn't see a mailer which allows to customize it.

It has not been fixed because Menu noMerge=1 name=view or any other menu
does not contain a Action name=show_inreplyto / or sth. similiar:
http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kdepim.gita=blobf=kmail/kmcomposerui.rc

Action name=show_reply_to / is meant to show the receiver to which email
address should be responded.

Do you tested it with a new account ?
How can I do it containing emails from current folders?

Because if when you created your kmail and there is not translate code it
 will not translate after.
Comment 6 ...

We store this translated string in server.
Comment 1 ...

So if we change after it will not updated.
Comment 6 ...

The proper solution is to store it internally with english strings and localize
it via GUI.

@Albert: I'm right?

On my both openSUSE 12.1, KDE:Unstable:SC, x86_64 based systems this crash as
well as the outage of IMAP sync happens only if I deleted sth. in IMAP folders
(but only sometimes).

Moving emails to lokal folders (e.g. via filters) doesn't crash KMail.

KMail delivered with 4.7.90 worked fine.

Can you verify it?

This is something we can discuss in detail at the Desktop Summit, and find a
solution that suits everyone. At the end of the day, the users should be
 happy.

Intermediate result:
8 persons want it fixed (pano and tony have not voted)
1 person does not want it fixed

Reasons for WONTFIX:
Christophe Giboudeaux have not explained exactly why an enabled nepomuk is
needed (only some vague / not really valid reasons).
Reality shows that needs of most users (including some power users) are also
fulfilled without nepomuk in use.
But there is a reason for disabling nepomuk:
http://kate-editor.org/2011/07/10/kde-4-6-5-starcraft-2/

Suggestion:
You should make people understanding why you WONTFIX the notification issue
at all and at least fix the three notifications in a row since one is enough
and avoids annoyance (if the notification is really needed each time).

Btw.:
These are valid reasons for reopening it (objective reflection).

There are now three files which contain 'sent-mail':

- kdepim/kmail-migrator.po[t]
- kdepim/kalarm.po[t]
- kdepimlibs/libakonadi-kmime.po[t]

I assume 'kmail-migrator' produce localized folders if you have a translated
'kmail-migrator.po' installed.
But what happens if you have not installed a translated 'kmail-migrator.po'
when migrating? - Yes. It will stay for ever in English ...
Or what happens when you change language?

From where should kmail take the translation for e.g. 'sent-mail'?

The screenshot shows only two .po[t] (kmail-migrator.po[t] and kalarm.po[t])
which contain the message 'sent-mail' in current trunk.

I do not assume the mentioned files are loaded by kmail at runtime.

But I assume there must be a i18n thinggy implemented in kmail ...

After some manual editing the *rc files I could make kmail2 'starting'.

I am wondering some parts are translated: bug 258926 ...

I can receive mails from my pop.gmx.net resource.

But I cannot send mails:
'There were problems trying to queue the message for sending: Message has
invalid sent-mail folder.'

As you see there is much work left for a working automatically migration ...

Please do not call me 'DAU'. But a migration tool must be useable by DAU
without manual adaptions ... ;-)

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258926

Summary: kmail2: Folders are not translated in main view
(regression)
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.0.89
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: johannesoberm...@gmx.de

Version: 2.0.89 (using Devel)

Below structure should be translatable.

If you do not know how you can do it please tell where (source file[s] with
line[s]) the GUI reads the folders from (akonadi) resources.

I assume Albert is then willing to help ...

▼ Local Folders

What do you try to tell me?

I already did a

'rm -f ~/.kde4/share/config/*kmail*'
   and
'rm -f ~/.kde4/share/config/*akonadi*'

in hope it fixes it.

And then I filed this bug report ...

Hi Tobias,

sorry for answerring so late ...

The problem was that the main menu and right-click menu were not working...

First I thought that it is a problem coming up because the changes with Akonadi
while development of KDE SC 4.4 and I decided reporting it...

After your reply I noticed that this problem could also be only on my system.

So I deleted ~/.kde4/share/apps/kabc/ and ~/.kde4/share/apps/kaddressbook and
it works again.

But all in all I am not very happy with problems occurring while development of
KDE SC 4.4 - most of them I could/can only resolve by deleting parts of ~/.kde
directory and that is a very bad thing in my eyes... (e. g. Bug #216941)

Have you installed package kdepim4-runtime?
If not and it is fixed then it is a possible duplicate from #220006.

[Bug 220006] New: KMail is closed after Akonadi problem report is closed

2009-12-24 Thread Johannes Obermayr

Summary: KMail is closed after Akonadi problem report is closed
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.13.0
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: johannesoberm...@gmx.de

Version: 1.13.0 (using 4.3.85 (KDE 4.3.85 (KDE 4.4 Beta2)) release
3, KDE:KDE4:UNSTABLE:Desktop / openSUSE_11.2)
Compiler: gcc
OS:Linux (i686) release 2.6.31.5-0.1-pae

I start KMail and an Akonadi problem report appears.

Then I can work with KMail until I close the Akonadi problem report.

After Akonadi problem report is closed KMail is also automatically closed (but
that is unwished...).

It has been also on my 2nd system since updating from 4.3.4 to 4.3.85 and Qt
4.6.0_20091222.

Command line output follows...
