That's a different issue, it's a problem with who sends the crappy HTML, not
with the client itself.

Just disable HTML in emails to live happily ever after :)

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379655

--- Comment #2 from Salvo "LtWorf" Tomaselli <tipos...@tiscali.it> ---
I use oxygen!

There is an icon that is called inbox and is different, but I can't select it
for the inbox folder.

But I am noticing this in the list of the files:

/usr/share/icons/oxygen/base/48x48/places/mail-folder-inbox.png
/usr/share/icons/oxygen/base/48x48/places/mail-folder-outbox.png
/usr/share/icons/oxygen/base/48x48/places/mail-folder-sent.png
/usr/share/icons/oxygen/base/64x64/places/mail-folder-outbox.png
/usr/share/icons/oxygen/base/64x64/places/mail-folder-sent.png

There is no inbox file for the 64 icon. Could this be the problem? Even though
the icons shown should be smaller than 64, and it should fall back to a smaller
one anyway.

Try changing colour theme of your desktop from systemsettings.

The issue is that by default kmail uses hardcoded colours to list the emails,
so for some themes, they end up unreadable.

Yes, it allows to use custom colours, but it would be better to just use them
from the colour theme stead.

This is why I no longer bother to open bugs against kmail.

It's an issue that takes 1 minute to reproduce, you didn't bother to try and
then you close it when someone randomly comments something completely
unrelated.

I was talking about the colours of important emails, to read emails, quoted
text and so on. They are not part of the theme.

If I want to attach a file, and start by writing the directory the file is in,
in the file dialog, and then press enter, kmail will try to attach the entire
directory.

This is unintuitive because with the open file dialog, it is normally
impossible to open directories, and there is a different dialog that is used
for these cases.

My suggestion is to add a different command to attach a directory, with a
proper directory selection dialog, because like this is just annoying as I
always attach directories by mistake.

I guess it's something more subtle.

After removing network-manager again, the dispatcher seems to have no problem
in staying online, even thou originally it refused and only went online after
nm was installed and started.

The output of that qdbus query is 4, with nm uninstalled.

2014-07-11 Thread LtWorf
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=337347

Bug ID: 337347
Summary: Can't send emails unless network-manager is installed
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 1.12.1
  Platform: Debian unstable
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Mail Dispatcher Agent
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: tipos...@tiscali.it
CC: vkra...@kde.org

I have a perfectly working wired connection, handled by the configuration files
of my distribution. Since there is nothing dynamic and the machine is not going
anywhere, there is no need whatsoever to have network-manager.

However, the mail dispatcher agent is not aware that the absence of
network-manager does not imply the absence of a working connection. So it will
refuse to go online and send any emails until network manager is installed.

the algorithm should work a bit like this:

if nm and nm.is_offline
do nothing
else
try to send

  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: tipos...@tiscali.it

I have pending emails to be sent, kmail refuses to send them even by clicking
on send pending emails.
To convince it to send them I need to reboot the entire computer (wut?) or
start WICD instead of my perfectly working connection done by a script with
ifconfig.

This automagic connection detection is broken. Just TRY to connect and raise an
error or whatever if it fails. NOT connecting just because there is no dbus
network manager thing is very annoying.

For some reasons, my local folders are offline, as a result it won't send
emails (it should send using sendmail locally).

It seems already weird to have local folders that went offline (I didn't do
that) but I guess it could in some rare cases make sense. However the problem
is that it won't go back in online mode, so my outgoing email is not sent.

Mutt sends email like a charm, so my server is configured properly.

OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist

 Component: composer
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org

I think it would be a nice feature to have the composer validate the addresses
and show some error dialog in case they aren't valid.

I clicked on a mailto: link, which made me send an email to u...@domain.com*,
that star at the end made the server reject my email, but I only got a very
generic error from kmail and I couldn't understand what was going on.

Luckily I had access to the logs of the server and could find the culprit in
this way, but it would have been much easier if kmail had told me the problem.

[Bug 254254] New: wrong assumption

  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: tipos...@tiscali.it

Version: 1.13.5
OS:Linux

For some inexplicable reason, kmail thinks that a TCP connection is the most
reliable thing in the world, so it totally does not handle the case when the
connection goes down and the TCP connection has to be established again.
The only thing to do when this happens is to RESTART KMAIL.
Meaning that if one is using a wireless connection and the AP isn't so close,
or if i decide to suspend my laptop and open it again after 3 hours, kmail will
have to be restarted in order to work again.
This is quite annoying, and it has been like that for ages.

Is it really that difficult to add a connection timeout or even notice that if
a
read(socket,buffer,b_size) is returning 0 then the connection is LOST and
further attempts of reading data from that connection are going to fail?
Honestly, i don't think it should be that hard and time consuming task, if it
is then there is something wrong with the architecture of the software itself.

Yes this bug is duplicated, no i don't care. I think making things work as
expected is most important than adding fancy features.

I am reporting it as a crash because a software that needs kill -9 in order to
work again, is more close to a crash rather than to a normal bug.

Bye

Summary: won't send if key isn't fully trusted
   Product: kmail
   Version: 1.13.5
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Version: 1.13.5 (using KDE 4.4.5)
OS:Linux

Kmail won't send email if a not fully trusted encryption key is selected.
I can (could) approve the warning, but not sending the email at all is just
annoying and brings to mark all the keys to trusted, just to be able to send
emails to their owners.
Yes, after the warning asking if i want to continue, even if i continue the
email won't be send anyway.

I added a contact on the local addressbook, then i tried to search for it and
it wasn't there. After a couple of minutes a dialog to insert username and
password to access the google phonebook appeared (because using kwallet is
apparently too complicated) and after i inserted those, my contact in my local
phonebook appeared.
I don't know if the problem is here or in akonadi.

Attachment 1 and 3 good... i know it works if you do like that. But _maybe_ i
don't have a previous email to click on?

Problem is in attachment 2, in the list of available addressbooks, there is the
OLD-NON-AKONADI one but not the new one managed by akonadi.

Can't kmail just use the same data that kaddressbook uses?

When i write an email and i try to put a name in the to field, the list of
the names is... old... related to the kde 4.4 addressbook.

If i add or update my contacts, those change will not be available in kmail.

I think that is quite stupid honestly. The only purpose of an addressbook is
being used by other applications.

Now to send an email to someone i have to manually open the addressbook,
search, copy the email address and paste into the to field of a new email.

[Bug 179997] can't sign mails with gpg

Using gpg-agent allowed me to sign, but i still think there is something wrong.

Without gpg-agent and pinentry i can actually enter my passphrase and READ the
encrypted emails in my inbox, but i can't sign and i can't read the emails
encrypted with my own key in my outbox.

I would expect a more consistent behaviour: either kmail can work without the
agent or can't, but this.. partial working is nonsense IMHO.

You're refusing to see my point that _TWO_ addressbooks will force the user to
waste most of the ⅓ of the screen for that list, when having it the old way
would be a better usage of that space.

[Bug 236105] New: poor GUI - -

2010-05-02 Thread LtWorf
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=236105

   Summary: poor GUI - -
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: tipos...@tiscali.it

Version: 4.4.3 (using 4.4.3 (KDE 4.4.3), Debian packages)
Compiler: cc
OS:Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.32.12-proserpina

I only have one resource, and to let me know this very important information
kaddressbook wastes ⅓ of my screen.

The old small box was way better IMHO.

Uidplus is an extension to the IMAP protocol, the plugin should state clearly
that only a subset of perfectly good IMAP servers will work, instead of making
the users think that there is something wrong with the server.

Kaddress book deleted all my contacts. Last thing i did was delete the blank
contacts it creates time to time (i am afraid i didn't fill a bugreport for
that). And i don't remember if i killed kontact with kill (since sometimes it
closes the window but doesn't terminate and doesn't start again).

I am afraid i can't offer much more details but it is quite annoying (and i
would be much more mad if i didn't have a recent backup).

This bug is related to bug #173640.
Kmail was used to crash when it was trying to move the sent email to the sent
folder of an IMAP account, without having established any connection to that
IMAP account.

Now, instead of crashing, it moves the sent email to the _local_ sent folder.
Which means i will manually have to move it into the right folder.

Can't you just establish the IMAP connection when it is needed?

that the pinentry stuff is correctly installed and you will finally admit it is

have encryption preferences. Am i supposed to set those preferences for each
