Hi, really this is only a supposition. I read somewhere that Akonadi crashed
after a MySql version update.
BTW, my IMAP accounts continue to crash... I can provide all crashes reports,
if needed.
Perhaps, it could be only a problem of my system, I don't know, but I cannot
figure out how to solve it or if I need some package more installed.

After some research, I found that probably the crashes of Akonadi are due to a
difference between Mysql version installed (8.0 in my system) and the version
required by akonadi module for imap (I think 5.8 or something like that).

Can anybody confirm this problem?

[Akonadi] [Bug 425523] New: Problem accessing Aruba IMAP server

2020-08-18 Thread Valter Mura
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425523

Bug ID: 425523
Summary: Problem accessing Aruba IMAP server
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: valterm...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

The IMAP configured resource isn't able to access the Aruba mail server

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. create the IMAP account with all correct parameters, as follows
- server type: IMAP
- server name: imaps.aruba.it
- user name: my_user_name as per instructions
- password: my_password
- security: SSL/TLS
- port: 993
- authentication: PLAIN (is it the same as "Normal" in Thunderbid?)

2. Try to connect

OBSERVED RESULT

the resource tries to connect but unsuccessfully, even if it indicates
"ready"/"connecting", the mailbox and its folders cannot synchronize.

EXPECTED RESULT

it should be connect normally (e.g. like Thunderbird, configured in the same
way)

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: KDE neon Testing Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2
Kernel Version: 5.4.0-42-generic
OS Type: 64-bit

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

the resource worked normally since one month ago, up to 15th of July (date of
last message received)
All my other accounts work fine (Gmail, Yahoo, Jpberlin)

Question: if it works well with Thunderbird, which is the problem with KMail?

Yesterday, I changed the position of the trashcan in my IMAP accounts and now
when I open Kmail I get an error as specified below. The program continues to
receive mail and I even can open, browse and read mail, like in a sort of
background (dialog greyed out).
I cannot change back my settings in order to see if the problem disappear, the
foreground error window doesn't allow it.

Error received both from standalone and kontact version of Kmail.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Kmail
2. change the position of the trashcan in an IMAP account (according with the
server position (e.g.: from local folder/Trashcan to Gmail/Trashcan
3. Close and reopen Kmail

I discovered what was the problem with this issue (that involved both rekonq,
ff and chromium): in the file association (System Settings), the name was
followed by %u, which caused the program to open twice the url when clicking
on a link.
This option was setup by default by the system an I never changed it. After
deleting it, the browsers open the links normally. :)

I solved the problem - in Akonadi Agent there are TWO Google Contacts:
- Google Contacts, that doesn't work for me
- akonadi_google_data_resource, that works correctly for me.

the first Agent/widget should be analysed and corrected, in order to avoid
problems.

thanks for the help

As I already reported in the Kubuntu mailing list: this works fine here for
me, maybe a restart of Konact and/or restarting the akonadi server might
help. I can add an entry inside Konact and edit an existing entry, both
changes are reported to the remote source.

Thanks Myriam, but no way to get it working. I already tried to stop/restart
The Akonadi server, but nothing happens. Maybe, or for sure, it is something in
my settings, but my skills in this area are limited, so I don't to do.

After creating the akonadi ressource, did you go back to the Contacts File
menu - New - Add address book?

As you can see from the screenshot, I have the resource created and working
(ready, with green light) in the Agents dialog, but the same doesn't work
inside Kaddressbook. If I create another one from within the Kaddressbook
dialog, the same is created inside the Agents dialog, but not showed in
Kaddressbook (Kontact).

HTH.

Yes, but is it selected from the adressbook? I think you have to explicitly
select the source once it is created.

In the addressbook dialog (kontact) doesn't appear! This is my problem. I can
see it in the PIM dialog but not in the addressbook one (look at the picture
attached).

Even if the resource appears to be created correctly in the Agent resources
(System Settings PIM - the Google Contact resourse appears ready, with green
light), Kaddressbook does not show my Google contacts.

I can create a normal kde addressbook, which works and shows correctly, but it
is impossible to me to see the Google ones.

Kubuntu 14.04

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Kontact
2. Go to Kaddressbook
3.

No Google Contacts showed

The addressbook autocompletion dowsn't work with the akonadi resource for
Google Contacts.
The Groups in my contacts are only Personal and Other Contacts, I have setup
no other groups.

The autocompletion is regularly working on recent addresses, which is
regularly enabled in Kmail.

To add an address to a new mail (if not present in the recent ones) I have to
click on the Select button, which opens the selection dialog. In there, I can
normally see my Gmail contact groups and select them.

I confirm the bug with KDE 4.10.2:
- recent addresses autocompletion: activated and working
- use of akonadi_googlecontacts_resource (setup and correctly working, I mean
syncronization)
- in Gmail Contacts I have only two groups: My Contacts Other Contacts

Note: if I manually select the address (i.e., I click the Select button), and I
start writing, the (Gmail) addresses are immediately found)

There are other clients which use this feature, an example (in Windows) can be

Version: 1.13.2 (using KDE 4.4.3)

Installed from:Ubuntu Packages

I would like to see, together with other tags for messages, such as mark
read/unread/important/spam and so on, a command to lock / unlock a message,
preserving it from being deleted (usually accidentally).

this should be particularly useful for important messages that users wants to
keep well preserved.

Also, the state of locking could be marked with little icon such as a small
lock... :-)

Best regards

As I use filters to distribute the incoming mail in different folders, I would
like to have a mail folder highlighted in a different color when a new message
is received and not only in bold. For eg., it could be used the same color used
for the new messages received.

Thank you.
