KR> Fuel System
Hi Guys, and thanks to all of you that commented on my fuel system posting. I am using a Revflow carb., stock as far as I know. I've heard that some have successfully added a pump, and that others have never been able to get one to work with this carb. I guess that puts me in the latter group. Any additional comments are welcome! Perhaps I should just go back to the initial gravity feed and call it good? As before, my concern is vapor lock, so I'm always interested to hear from others about how they've mitigated this one. I have the heat shield tube installed, and am now wondering if yet another one on top would help or make things worse!!! Another concern is with unusual attitudes and no pump. Thanks again, Dave.
KR> Gathering update
Fellow netters, If you haven't been to www.krgathering.org lately, check in soon for update on hats / shirts, and awards. Make sure you click on both the awards and shirt picture for more details. At this point it appears we have volunteers for judging the KR's, thanks to Bob Glidden and Michael Sylvester. We could use one additional judge and I'm asking Bob Glidden to "choose" another "volunteer". Rich Hartwig is doing name tags, and I've got the hats / shirts covered as well as the awards. I'm working on the banquet with Donnie Wilkie, the restaurant owner/manager. Chris Collins, the airport manager, will help cover most of the terminal setup and some of his crew will help at the registration table. The registration table, with hat and shirt sales, is one of the most demanding duties time wise, requiring two eight hour shifts, and I'm sure they would appreciate someone giving them an occasional break. I'll provide the P.A for the forums and I've had several volunteers to lead the discussions. It looks like we're getting our ducks all in a row. It won't be long now. If you haven't already made plans, start doing so TODAY. If I've forgotten anything, shoot me an e-mail at fles...@frontier.com Larry Flesner
KR> Re: KRnet Digest, Vol 353, Issue 217
When using lumber other than aircraft grade Sitka Spruce make sure it is not Kiln dried as it is very brittle. I think all aircraft spruce is air dried. I once tried to make a shooting bow with ash from a local good lumber store. It broke as soon as I tried to bend it for the string. KR> A different prop hub
I discovered this about a week ago and this morning I had the chance to verify the prop pattern. A smart car (2008 or newer) with the 3 bolt wheel pattern is the same as a SAE-1 prop pattern. While this isn't a great discovery , having a mostly pre-made prop hub is useful for working on gear reduction, a test stand or build a mount for the corvair. Just line it up drill three more holes and your done. I hopes this helps the group. Thanks David Boyer
