KR> Update, fiberglassing Rt. Wing

Looking good Paul! Hopefully you can get away with minimal sanding and
filling, but don't be concerned if it is not perfect. Sanding and filling
builds "Character". Plus stronger arms of course.

Ok Guys, I have taken the week off to sand the primer and paint the plane. Let
me start by saying that something I thought was a good thing in the past has
come back to bite me. In the building process as I finished a part of the plane
I would prime it by rolling on 2 part epoxy high fill primer, yes I said, roll
it on with little foam rollers. This leaves a slight orange peel texture and
this stuff is killer to sand down to smooth. What I thought I could do in two
days is going to take all week. I hope we sing the sanding song at the
gathering because I am definitely earning the right to sing it, Hell, I might
even lead the thing.

Mike I have used MEK in the past to smooth out orange peel in the past on
small parts. Never on the entire project. It works well and does not effect
the strength of any work under it. Rick
PS if you do this make sure it is well vented.

I have been very slack over the past 12 months but am slowly getting back into
my kr2s. I mounted the engine (overhauled 0200) yesterday so I can start
looking at cable lengths and instruments. I hope to get some photos out at some
point. The fuse is mostly complete. The wing spars are done. And the tanks and
wings will be last to save hanger rash. They do get on the way when working.

KR> update on the Dr. Dean plane

Joe,
Really nice workmanship on the new KR, your shop reminds me of mine sans the
TV. I have not got my KR-2 out of Phase 1 testing and you are inspiring me
to start on another, perhaps a KR-2S this time. Anyone interested in a new,
Phase 1 KR-2 with Great Plains 2180 VW and electronic displays?

I have been doing a bit here and there to keep moving on the Dr. Dean custom
KR. Today I finished shaping all the fairing foam to the tail group. Took me
awhile thinking about it to decide how I wanted it to look. Not exactly how
I wanted it to turn out but still will look pretty slick when it gets
painted up. The turtle deck will be removable and an additional removable
cover from over the rear control horn area. I also got it worked out so the
fairing covers the hole that is needed for the elevator to travel up and
down. That is a leak that i didn't want again. 5 or 6 hours today to do the
same amount of work that took me weeks on the first plane.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for posting the link to your photo bucket. I'm relatively new to the
KR group (last 6 months or so) and haven't seen pictures of your build until
today. I'm very impressed after viewing your photos, very clean work!

I noticed that your wing design branches out from the norm among other
differences. My plan is to build a stock wing, with the new airfoil, but I
like
how you built your wing separate from the fuselage on jig. There is not enough
space in my garage to build my wings on the fuselage like the plans suggest. So
I'm going to have to create a similar jig that will hold the spars while I
construct the wing. Do you have any details and photos that you can share on
how
you built your wing jig?

Thanks,

I have been fighting my new brakes, getting them properly "bled". For some
reason, they don't pump up from the bottom like the Rosenhan did. PS: I
have a full set of Rosenhan (Matco) wheels, brakes, axles, and spacers for
the Diehl gear, for sale OFF NET.

So, knowing that I am going to make the forward deck removable, and move the
fuel to the wings, I decided to bite the bullet and "git er done". Today, I
cut off the old deck and it appears that I am going to have to cut the tank
to get it out. This tank has a Princeton Probe fuel sender, and all the
stuff that a header tank needs, and will go to some lucky builder, cheap,
when I get it out.

The next step is to remove the wings and cut them open , once I get the new
tanks built. The plan is to fly to the Gathering on the VW, with new fuel
tanks, and change it out for the Corvair, soon after I get back, in hopes of
flying to the Corvair college in November, on Corvair power. So, needless
to say, I will have a complete 2276 VW with all the trimmings, and I mean
ALL, from in front of the firewall, to the tip of the spinner, with very few
exceptions. As good as this engine is running now, if I did not already
have the Corvair, I would just keep on flying it as I am not looking forward
to all this work in the 95 degree weather that we will have between now and
Gathering time.

So, I am sorry to say that, the time for building has begun again. I must
be a sick puppy.

KR> Update from the archives - Polyester fuel tanks

2010-07-05 Thread Gavin Magill
Hi Mike

Having just become part of a syndicate of pilot/builders who have purchased
a flying Sonex and also being a KR builder, I too have been having a very
close look at the way Sonex do a number of things and trying to work out
what could easily be transferred/adapted into my build.

The fuel header tank would certainly be one of the parts relatively easily
converted over to a KR. It is secured in the Sonex with two Aluminum
straps which fit into purpose made channels in the external moulding of the
tank so this should be fairly simple to secure in the KR. I guess so long as
you can get hold of one of the tanks then it would be possible to adapt it
for purpose although one thing you would need to make sure is that the width
of your boat will accomodate the tank.

Perhaps if you can befriend a local Sonex builder near where you live you
might be able to convince them to order a fuel tank for you rather than
forking out the $600 for a set of plans although I don't know how Sonex
would feel about that. It would certainly save a heap of time if you don't
want to fabricate a fuel tank yourself.

KR> Update from the archives - Polyester fuel tanks

2010-07-05 Thread Mike Taglieri
For the main tank, I've been wondering if the molded polyethylene tank used
in the Sonex could be used in a KR, since it seems roughly the same size.
Polyethylene is extremely durable, and is used in some dirt-bike gas tanks.
Unfortunately, the Sonex website says they won't sell any parts to someone
who isn't a registered buyer of their ~$600 plans. I assume this is to
prevent someone from copying someone else's plans and building a Sonex on
the sly, but it doesn't make much sense to prevent people who are obviously
building something else from buying certain parts.

However, Sonex's engine division is willing to sell engines and engine parts
to non-Sonex builders. Their VW based engine is nothing special, but their
"Aerocarb" seems to be an updated version of the Posa carb, but with good
quality control and parts availability.

least
ordinary diligence in his fuel testing, do the repairs in my shop, and
post what

KR> Update

2010-07-05 Thread Dan Heath

KR> Update KR2S N1852Z

2010-07-03 Thread robert7...@aol.com
Thought I'd send an update on my plane since I've made a few changes lately
and had some maintenance done on her as well. I passed the 250 hours mark
on N1852Z and she is ready for another trip to Oshkosh and the KR Gathering
this year. This spring I installed a Dynon D6 in the cockpit. I have added
a short video of the instrument panel and some flying to my web page at
_www.robert7721.com_ (http://www.robert7721.com) if anyone is interested.
The D6 was a very tight fit and I was not able to use the regular wiring
harness. I made my own connections and I have only the power and ground wires
installed to the unit along with Pitot and Static inputs. The D6 does not
have an internal compass, it requires an external unit and I do not have that
hooked up right now. I have plenty of other directional information from
my magnetic compass and GPS.

I also did some engine work on my VW Revmaster engine. My problem started
out as a loss in RPM (about 200) that I could not quite determine on a
flight. I checked valve clearances, spark plugs, etc. This were all fine so I
then pulled the heads. Both heads had cracks in between the center valves
developing - I did some checking and this is actually fairly normal for VW
heads. I had the heads reconditioned by a local machine shop in Kansas City.
They said I also had two burnt exhaust valves and needed new springs. I
called Revmaster and Joe Horvath sent me the parts - cost was less than $60.
The cylinder head shop re-welded the cracks in the heads, reworked the
seats, installed the new exhaust valves for about $120. All told less than
$200
to repair the cylinder heads. It only took me about 2 hours to remove the
heads, but probably 3 to reinstall everything. All told I was out of the air
for about 4 weeks. I've been flying again for a couple weeks and yes,
everything is back to normal. This has probably been my most expensive repair
on
my KR since it started flying in 2006, I'm pretty happy about that. It was
more depressing to not be able to fly for about a month.

I plan to be at Oshkosh in the Homebuilt Camping this year. Hope to see a
few other KRs there as well. Should be flying in on Sunday morning. Probably
be there till Friday or Saturday.

On a separate note, Terry Chizek (KR2) is having his annual fish fry and
BBQ again at his airport in Marion Kansas (43K) this summer, so if you are in
the area please drop in. Date is going to be Saturday 21 August.

Hi Folks,

I have noticed the recurring discusion about tank sealers, and their
susceptability to problems when using MOGAS with Ethanol. I have had some
experiences in the past with metal Motorcycle fuel tanks which rusted
through due to poor maintenance, namely allowing water from condensation to
sit on the botttom of the tank (for years appearantly.) While large leaks
required welding to fix the problem, if caught early they are often fixed by
coating the inside of the tank with an aftermarket product called KREEM TANK
SEALER. It's available at many Motorcycle Parts Suppliers, and even JC
Whitney, in various sizes for between $20 for a 16 oz kit and less then $60
for a gallon kit. I have a number of classic and antique motorcycles, and
after treatment with this product have not had any of them develope new
leaks after years of use. I usually use the cheapest gas I can find, and
often it is part Ethanol, and seems to have no effect on the sealer. As a
product that is specifically designed as a fuel tank sealer, it might be
worth it to you guys looking for something that will stand up to Ethanol to
research it.

Happy Flying,

Fred,
Proseal is quite thick and rubbery. It would be difficult to seal an
ntire tank with it. I use proseal to seal my fuel sending units and
he nut plates and bolts that secure them to the tank. However, if
ou are not comfortable with the imperiousness of epoxy and glass
anks to fuel, (I have found it is the pin holes that present the
roblem, not the incompatibility of the matrix and the fuel) I would
ecommend PR-1422 available at Wicks to coat the inside of the tank.
t can be brushed on and is much easier to work with and can be used
ith fuels containing alcohol (Of course there are many other reasons
o stay away from alcohol, but that is not the point of discussion
ere). PR-1422 has a shelf life for certified applications and Wicks
ells the expired stuff for cents on the dollar.

2009-11-27 Thread Mike Taglieri
KREEM may work for rust holes on steel tanks, but I and other people I know
with '70s-era motorcycles have had no luck at all using it to protect
fiberglass tanks from alcohol. The only thing that seems to work is
Caswells tank sealant, a 2-part epoxy that I used two years ago to coat the
tank of my 1972 Norton Commando with good results to date. The only
credible stories of failure that I've seen with it were by people who
skipped the rather rigorous pretreatment Caswells requires, which includes
washing the inside with Dawn dishwashing liquid and water, drying
completely, shaking the tank with acetone and drywall screws inside to rough
the surface, drying completely, mixing and pouring the epoxy in a warm
place, shaking it around, and letting it set, preferably baking at 140F for
several hours after it sets up.

It may be true that Wicks PR-1422 would protect fiberglass against alcohol,
but if it's made for certified planes there's no reason it ought to, because
alcohol isn't allowed in fuel for certified planes.

KR> Update from the archives - Polyester fuel tanks

2009-11-25 Thread Larry H.
Hi Todd,
I have used something like you describe below to coat the inside of a metal
(steel) motorcycle tank that had rusted years ago. The kit came with an acid
for cleaning and etching the inside of the tank for adhesion. The stuff I had
was a two part I think, white in color and looked like white liquid ceramic. As
directed, once the tank was as clean as I could get it and etched with the
acid, I poured the liquid in and and rotated the tank around and around to make
sure all of the inside was coated. Once set up the inside was kind of shiny
like glass. I could stick my finger in the fill opening and feel of it and it
felt smooth as glass. It worked very well. I am not sure I would have faith in
using that product in a resin based fuel tank. I will admit that I have no idea
whether it would stick properly but I would guess it wouldn't work that well
but I was wrong once!   LOL

AS for PRC, I think that is the same stuff I coated the inside seams of my
Mooneys fuel tank with. Jeff can probably speak to this, but that was one night
mare job cleaning all of the old stuff out of the whole tank through the too
small openings and then cleaning and cleaning and cleaning and, well you get
the picture. Bottom line is all oil residue has to be gone or the new sealer
may not stick properly. I see that as one of the main objectives of coating a
used tank that has had oil in it.

Mogas (Clear 92 Octane Unleaded) does not hurt any type of Glass or Poly
tanks. We carry and sell Mogas at the rate of several thousand Gal a Month.
The people that burn it have every kind of handmade tank you can use and
have never had a problem of any kind. The problem is ethanol whether you
knew you had it or not. I have used it and stored it for 15 years in glass
tanks in my spray business before we purchased this FBO 3 years ago and
installed it here. We have never had a problem except one tank used by an
associate that had ethanol in it for less than a month. la...@lebanair.com

KR> Update from the archives - Polyester fuel tanks

2009-11-23 Thread Jeff Scott
I thought I would write an update to this discussion we had in early October
regarding polyester fuel tanks. Especially since I referenced the polyester
tip tanks in the Cherokee 235 and Cherokee 6 aircraft as proof of success using
polyester resin for fuel tanks. This week I have a Cherokee 235 in my shop and
am rebuilding the tip tanks. The owner bought the Peterson Autogas STC 5 years
ago and has been running Mogas in the these tanks for the last 5 years. The
owner also states that he has carefully tested for alcohol every time he has
purchased mogas to use in his plane, so these tanks have never been exposed to
alcohol.

The tank construction consists of a two laminate outside shell of polyester
impregnated woven glass cloth much like the 5.85 oz KR glass, then a layer of
polyester impregnated non-directional glass matting used as a core material,
then an inner shell of polyester impregnated woven glass cloth. There was a
final painted on coat of polyester resin used to seal any pinholes in the
tanks. The aft and side bulkheads are a thick built up multi-laminate layer of
woven glass cloth.

The result of 5 years exposure to mogas: The mogas has permeated through the
inside polyester resin impregnated cloth weave and soaked into the glass
matting core of the tank causing numerous pockets and voids in the glass mat
core between the lamina in fuel tanks. The resin in the mat core material is
very soft and gooey and all of the pockets along the bottom of the tank were
still full of gas even though it has been over a month since the tanks were
drained. The damage at the top of the tank where the fuel was sloshing against
it was even worse than the bottom of the tank. The tops of both tanks had
voids in the lamina as large as 6 inches in diameter that had to be cut away
and patched. The polyester resin has softened and delaminated to the point
that the fuel tanks were deforming in flight. The tanks were also dropping
much of the interior resin coating into the fuel also causing fuel particulate
contamination. The built up bulkheads appear to be mostly unaffected other
than peeling of the final painted on coating of polyester resin used to seal
the tanks.

These tanks have been in service since 1969, never had a service difficulty or
any damage, and were never exposed to mogas until 5 years ago. I have had to
cut and grind away most of the insides of the tanks and am building them back
up with a good quality epoxy resin, literally building a tank within a tank. I
have also advised the owner to not expose the tip tanks to mogas in the future
even though they will now be lined with an epoxy based resin.

OK, so this is some real world data regarding long term exposure of Polyester
Resin to Mogas.

Back into the air again with a couple changes on the plane. I was down at WW
helping him do some flying and checkout on the 601 when we decided to install
the Crane electronic points (without points) into the WW distributor. After a
little playing around we had it up and running. Flew around a bit and flew
home on the electronics. There doesnt seem to be much of a difference in the
way the engine runs but may make starting easier and smoother running. The
ingition pulses should be more accurate and smoother.

Yes WW is very busy at the moment. He is making up parts for the upcoming
Sun n Fun and getting orders filled. I know that there are new products coming
down the pike to make things easier for us homebuilders. The gold hub is one
of those products and is a beauty to behold and simpler than the original black
hub. I will eventually have to order a couple for myself for the twin but
that is down the road. Still have to get spars built.

Will be doing a little flying this week I hope and working to save up monies
for the new airplane...Should be at the Gathering '08Hoping.

neat intake manifold. I have to check out the fit under the cowling, and
may have to have the intake re-done, if the fit is too bad, but I should
know that tomorrow.

You would not believe the mess that the mechanic found when he started
trying to clean up the heads. It turns out, that is where my problems have
been coming from, with not being able to get the mixture right. As bad as
it was, it is hard to believe that an engine could turn out as much power as
it was. I am very lucky to have found it when I did. If your gut tells you
something is wrong, don't try to tell it that it is lying. Anyway, he fly
cut the heads, so they are right and put in a 60mm head gasket ( copper O
ring ) to take up the slack. I now have 8.5:1 compression with Total Seal
rings, and am having a hard time being patient until I can start it up.

I will post pics on my site, as soon as I can get it all together.

KR> Update - Corvair college....

2008-10-12 Thread william Clapp
Howdy yall, Sorry I havent written in in a while but thought I might shoot an
update. Ive been busy working, helping people move, trying to fix the house,
all those little things, so I havent done much flying lately. Ive only put on
a few hours since the Gathering - only to 410 right now so I expect Mark
Langford to pass =me up in a couple weeks - but thats great - Im glad to see
him putting the hours on his bird. The rest of you need to get busy! The
Gathering is only a little bit away again and we want you there. Im hoping to
get busy on the twin - dont know if Ill finish it before the Gathering because
Ill have to make some money as well. N41768 is doing fine - Im playing a
little bit with the breather on it - trying to make a real efficient breather
that recycles back to the case well. My current breather still make me lose
about a quart every 3 or four hours. Im hoping to get it to a quart every 10
or so. Improving the breather will help when I do the turbo
installation later. Ive made a trip to Tampa and a few around in the area and
will be giong to the Corvair College this week to help out.
Right now I am working on my other Corvair - the 66 Monza I have - seems to
have a tight valve adjustment on the right head - Ive got it on the lift and
will be doing compression checks and adjusting the valve train - hope that
fixes it - runs poorly when cold. Other than that Im having fun. I hope to
really get working on the twin but need to get a couple car projects out of the
way.
BTW - if anybody has some stuff to sell for my twin (or give away) let me
know

What I have so farCarbon nomex fuselage, canopy (dragonfly style), wheels
and brakes, tires, engine cores, elevator and horizontal (Lancair 230). I will
be looking for tailwheel assy (but may design one thats built into the rudder)
but mostly needing plywood, foam, resin, and cloth. I found a foam
manufacterer in Atlanta that can make urethane any size I want so may order 8"
thick pieces to design solid core wings and such. Stub wings will by ply skin
construction due to the stresses on the wings from the engines. Wood for
building spars may be the first priority since I can start with the center wing
soon and install into the fuse. I may build the entire fuse and wait on the
outer wings once the rest is finishedwell, lots of ideas. I plan to start
a photo spread of the build soon so you can all be updatedwish me luck!

  Fly safe - build carefully.

No, this was an Ellison factory gasket and diaphragm. Ellison clearly states to
use only 100LL. The problem was already there before the induction of the pure

Yep, Ethanol will affect rubber and I had about 100 hours of 10% Ethanol
fuel through this carb. The diaphragm was out of shape compared to a new

A lot of you are asking if I am back in the air yet. Not yet. I discovered some
exterior cracks in the rubber hose which connects the carb to the intake pipes.
Even though there were exterior cracks in the rubber, the cracks did not
penetrate the interior walls of the hose and did not contribute to my engine

However the vendor I ordered them from misplaced my order and they did not ship

KR> Update

2008-10-12 Thread Mark Jones
I have inspected every conceivable thing on my engine and have not found
anything that points me in the right direction to correct to my engine problem.
Right now my carburetor is disassembled on the work bench. I was hoping to find
a bad diaphragm or other abnormality in there but nothing jumps out at me. I
have a new diaphragm that I am going to install after I thoroughly clean and
dry out the carb. The Ellison carb has a pressure vent (approximately 1/16"
diameter x 3'' long) from the mouth of the carb through the body leading to the
diaphragm. After I took the carb apart, I blew through this vent and noticed
there was some gurgling sound in there as if fuel, oil or water were in the
vent. This vent should be dry without any obstructions. The purpose of the
diaphragm is to apply pressure on a spring loaded fulcrum which meters the
amount of fuel allowed into the carb. If this is blocked or partially blocked,
the performance of the carb would be affected. I hope to have the carb
reassembled and back on the plane Sunday. I will let you know how the engine
performs. I would do it tomorrow but I am getting up at 3 AM tomorrow to make
the 500 mile drive to southern Illinois to return the trailer that was loaned
to me. I should get there right about lunch time so I can take Gary Jones (the
trailer owner) out to lunch. I think I will buy him a PRIME RIB lunch for
letting me use his trailer. Total trip will be about 1000 miles in one day so

KR> Update on engine rebuild

2008-10-12 Thread Joseph H. Horton
  Guys
For those of you that saw my corvair powered KR at the gathering
and know that I tore it down the week before to repair a crack in the
block also know that I had an oil leak. I was loosing about a quart every
2 1/2 hours. I have located it. I had thought that it was leaking out of
the push rod tubes and I had done something wrong on the left side. After
cleaning it up and running for short periods on the ground i found that
it was actually leaking around the cylinder base gaskets. This is not all
that surprising to me as this is the 3rd time that the engine has been
apart and reassembled with the same steel gasket. I did use the copper
RTV sealant with them but will have to take this side back apart and
clean it up and install new base gaskets. (really only about a 3 hour
job)
On the cracked block I only have a theory and that is when
splitting the block it comes apart very hard and I was using a block of
wood and a BFH (type of hammer) to tap it apart and the top inside corner
is one of the spots that I had put the block of wood to loosen the case
up. I may have fatigued it and caused the crack to start. It did not go
through any bolt holes and did not finish cracking from one place to
another. If this did cause it the crack took about 100 hours to develop
into something noticeable.

2008-10-12 Thread Joe H Horton
Guys,
Just a quick note, I have the engine completely reassembled and
sitting back in the airframe. The welding of the block went well and the
aluminum seems to be very good quality and welded very cleanly. I had the
case halves bolted together during welding to maintain shape. I remade a
couple brackets and installed WW's deep oil pan that has been laying
around for 2 years now.
I should have installation done in the morning and test run after
work and if that is fine maybe even a flight tomorrow.
Right now all is looking good for early Thursday departure to the

Guys.
Happy Father's Day, Not a bad week so far. I flew N357CJ seven of
the last eight days for close to 10 hours. I did get a flat tire again
yesterday on the left side this time and the small hole was at the exact
same place inside sidewall with nothing being found that would make the
puncture. It went flat will I was getting a soda pop after fueling up and
it sure made it tough getting it back to the hanger.
I have a little trouble this morning to investigate. Will sitting
at another airport waiting for traffic I noticed the EIS flashing which
is nothing new considering the way it acts when the instrument gets hot.
But this time it was the low oil pressure warning and that never happened
before. I did a run up and it came up to 42 psi from the 28 that it was
showing at idle. I choose to fly back home which was only about 10 min
away. I kept a eye on it during flight and it didn't drop below 38 psi. I
did just a base to finial to shorten the time in the air and carried a
little power for the approach to keep pressure up. During roll out it
dropped back into the 28psi range again. There was no evidence of loosing
oil so I need to start looking under the hood to see what I can find
I'll let ya know what I find.

Joe I've had three flats in 99U, In my case I think it was air pressure
related, I used to keep the pressure low to help with a bad landing but all
of my flats occured due to the inner tube pinching, now i run 35 psi and
plenty of talcum powder when assembling. I also carry a spare tube and
enough tools to get the job done. My flats always occure in uncivilized
territorty.

Or could it have been that the tire distorted from the 200MPH fly by at 9D4.
Like I said that thing sounds like a Bonanza---Way Cool. That climb
out should qualify you for a rotorcraft ticket.
I was gonna go to Ocean City, NJ today but the Funk was terrible, so off to

Tires---
I had pressure at 35 psi but it apparently had dropped in the
past few weeks to about 30 psi. I increased all to 37 psi now.
Oil---
The oil is just about due to change already - about 23 hours on
it. I have been using 10-30 in warm weather and 5-30 in the cold. It is a
semi synthetic and I also put in a pint or so of slick 50 with each oil
change.
I did take off the headset to see if I could hear anything strange from
the engine. It seemed to run fine. In fact on the first climb out this
morning I was thinking to my self how smooth and quite it seemed today.
I have the high volume pump installed and pressure has never been
below 35psi and 28psi is where I set the warning on the EIS. 42 psi has
been the normal operating pressure all along.
I installed the instruments for a reason and if I don't
investigate what is going on I could be out flying right now in ignorant
bliss. I have to find out what changed. I will take advise. Even the EIS
is suspect and I still have a loaner that was ready to ship back that I
may plug in just to check.

Joe,
Are you putting talcum powder in tire and on tube? It will prevent pinching

Hey Joe - I would set your EIS oil pressure to 20 psi - idle pressure. If
you get 20 at hot idle that is very good - cruise should be around 45 psi.

Sounds like your having fun - me too - just love flying !

I knew that was the case but just cout not remembe what it was called. I picked
up from a news item in the early part of the war when an embed reporter
interviewed a "Apache" pilot that he landed at the fuel point to fuel up. Now
we know it is called JP-8

KR> Military fuels and KR Update

2008-10-12 Thread Robert Schmitt
Sorry guys, need to correct this. The army does run essentially one fuel -
JP8. It is a diesel fuel with a certain higher testing standard for
aircraft. It can not be used in spark ignition engines. The army runs
primarily JP8 in all equipment. The army has very few engines which use
mogas, only small generators and leased/owned-civilian vehicles. We still
need to have some Mogas for these.

My KR2-S is in final stages of sanding and finishing. Going well. I should
have it at the airport for DAR inspection end of June or early July.

Gleaned from new accounts it has came to my attention that the military uses
a

grade of diesel fuel that fuels everything from HumVees to aircraft. Of
course

they do it for logistical reasons. This fact came to my attention in a news

report where in the background I observed a "Chopper" land near a fuel
tanker

and the driver finished fueling a "Hum Vee" and then went over and proceeded
to

fuel the chopper from the same hose.
