AOO Calc, correction in Polish version

2020-03-07 Thread Czesław Wolański
Hi,

In AOO Calc to use formulae/formulas one can call either Insert >
Function ORInsert > Function list.

In Polish version, name of category "All" is translated as "*Wszystko*"
and "*Wszystkie*".

To retain consistency please replace word "Wszystko" with "Wszystkie".

Under link below you will find suitable screenshots from Polish and English
version.
Word "Wszystko" is red-encircled.

Hi,

I think I corrected everything accordingly. Please have a look...

No problem with changing the mailbox, maybe that helps with formatting.

Re: Correction to a UI string

2015-01-12 Thread Aivaras Stepukonis
I see your point and respectfully disagree, even if on different
grounds. It is superfluous in the sense of being pedantic, i.e. making
distinctions where they have no practical value.

In the UI menus and toolbars, there are many actions one can perform
directly on objects without the need to label them direct. There
also many indirect actions one can perform indirectly on objects
without the need to label them indirect. The distinction, although
semi-correct, does look like splitting hair.

If one were to get scholastic about the matter, it is not direct vs.
indirect, but simple vs. complex, i.e. one-step actions vs.
multiple-step ones. In causal terms, they're all as direct as it can
get. But that is precisely my point - there is not need to get
conceptually over-scrupulous in what is a practical environment of
clicking buttons and doing things. Less is more.

Aivaras

I see that differently!
With Insert Footnote/Endnote you open a dialog.
With Insert Footnote Directly the footnote is inserted directly
without a dialog.
Therefore the wording Directly isn't superflous.

BTW, this is analog to Insert Endnote Directly

I do, Marcus! It's just an exchange of reasons... And we're doing that
respectfully.

I'm approaching this particular case from a user's perspective (although
I may be wrong, so the more opinions and experiences the better). I'm
using AOO myself a lot, especially the Writer, and I never think of
direct when inserting footnotes via the icon.

Peace,

Aivaras;

Directly is also defined by Merriam-Websters as without delay. It is in
this sense of the usage that it is used in the disputed id's . This
makes sense in that Insert Directly inserts the footnote/EndNote without
the delay of calling the dialog box.

Yes, when you find an error in the English text, please report it in
Bugzilla.

You can enter the corrected version in your language in Pootle, but then
you need to do it again, when the English text gets fixed.
