[lace] Edgings on Flickr

2016-03-24 Thread hottleco
Hello All! My recent efforts with edgings are now posted to Flickr. I am Well
Aware there are plenty of errors! That said, I had fun making them,
particularly the Tregidgo piece on the right because I love the variegated
Oliver Twist ground, the fuschia fans & the "wave" that travels thru. This is
the pricking I reduced to make the white one in the middle using Brenda's
formula for my Egyptian 100/2. The white one on the left is the poor survivor
of my small roller pillow. The library ladies have been working overtime on my
behalf & have acquired both Snowden & both Collier miniature/doll lace books.
With Duchesse & sequin pins now in hand, I'm good to go. Thanks again to all
who offered advice & counsel! Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Palm Beach Gardens, FL

[lace] Registration for Slovenia OIDFA Congress problems

2016-03-24 Thread Jeriames
Last week, AOL firmly blocked email to Slovenia.

My solution was to call them at 4 a.m. New York City time. This way, I
could be certain everything was in the correct hands. Have the same problem?
Email me, and I'll share what worked.

-
I've read on Arachne that others are having increasing problems with email
from various ISPs. I've tried all sorts of things to get my messages
through Arachne's server. In the process, I was reminded that AOL was
acquired
by Verizon in June 2015. Billing changes began to appear on my credit
card account 2 months ago, so I imagine it is natural that they are changing
how messages are delivered and implementing new security measures that our
Arachne server is not programmed to receive. The easiest way to read what
happened to AOL is in Fortune Magazine:

http://fortune.com/2015/06/24/verizon-gains-aol/

I suspect this will not be the final solution for AOL. Its history of
ownerships is unsettling.

Everyone having problems: Be sure to read the final paragraph of Avital's
3/24/16 message - from spindexr.

[lace] 2016 Bookmark Exchange

2016-03-24 Thread Lin Hudren
I have been blessed with more participants wishing to exchange bookmarks.
they are the wise ones that know that bookmarks are 24/7 for 365 days of
the year which means fond memories every time you open a book (including
that recipe book). Several people have commented that they have had
computer difficulties in the last weeks so were not able to sign up
previously. So, if anyone wishes to participate now, i am willing to work
it out and make all those new and lovely bookmarks fly thru the mails. if
you have been on the fence or have just not been aware for the Lace Digest
coming in, please give me a chance to allow bookmarks to go elsewhere for
you to have new memories with fondness. just email me at
linhud...@gmail.com and I will make this happen. thanks for your further
consideration.

Hugs, Lin and the Mali

Re: [lace] Admin

2016-03-24 Thread Yahoo!
Good morning Avital and fellow spiders

I've just checked my 'Spam' box this morning and every one of my emails have
appeared there and all have come through Yahoo! I have no idea how this has
happened as my server is btinternet and I have nothing whatsoever to do with
Yahoo! The first email I sent to Arachne came through my btinternet mail box
okay, which is how I knew it was incomplete and that the lengthy email from
Julie which I had deleted/trimmed was still there! However, all subsequent
emails which I expected to see in my mail box, decided for some unknown reason,
to take the scenic route to my 'Spam' folder Jeri's email always go to my
'Spam' box but that's not a problem, as I check it every day. Thank all for
your tolerance and also for the numerous replies from you all but I think we
can now close the discussion on my frustration/incompetence.

Happy Easter and happy lacemaking to you all.

[lace] Admin

2016-03-24 Thread Avital
Dear spiders,

A gentle reminder to please trim posts! If you are quoting a previous
message, please trim the header, footer, and any irrelevant bits so
that the digest readers don't have to scroll through > and so that
the archives don't get stuffed with trash.

Second, if you have any problems or questions about whether your
messages are reaching Arachne, please write to me directly. At the end
of every message you will see the magic words "For help, write to
arachne.modera...@gmail.com." That address forwards to my personal
address and I will look into the problem. That's what I'm here for.

Do not rely on seeing your message sent back to you! Majordomo doesn't
seem to do that now. If you are not sure, check the archives at
http://www.mail-archive.com/lace@arachne.com. You can also CC me when
you send the message to the list. That gives me more information. For
example, if your address changed slightly because your ISP was bought
by another company, you would still receive messages because your ISP
would set up an alias address for you, but majordomo would ignore your
messages because it wouldn't recognize the address as a legitimate
subscriber.

Regards,

Avital
