Re: [lace] AOL mails - I called Technical Support Today
Jeri (and others), It looks like your persistence paid off. For the first time I don't see the yellow bar that shows Gmail has filtered your message out of spam. Others, from yahoo and AOL, are still being filtered (i.e., they're marked as spam but my filter pulls them into my lace folder), but yours is OK. Sad that it's come to that! [lace] AOL mails
Hi all, This thread about mails which enter via SPAM was commented some time ago.. At that time I said nothing, but now that the problem seems to appear again, I would like to remark that this only happens if the server is AOL. If you remember there was a problem of hacking this server and many account id. had problems. Since then, only the ones who come with AOL capital letters, go to spam folder. Why, I do not know. This is the case of Jeri and Devon and today Laceandbits. So..I always check the spam folder. Greetings from Barcelona. [lace] AOL mails
...and this is my case also. Probably many of arachne members will not receive this mail correctly. I can see it into my spam folder. I wander if Avital, our excellent moderator may guide us in some way. I am thinking in swith the address I use with Arachne to another from a different server. Re: [lace] AOL mails
So do I. Emails from certain persons always go into my spam folder. But... not only AOL ones. Carolina, yours went into my spam box too! Perhaps because the message itself included the word AOL? And.. does it happen to everybody? Re: [lace] AOL mails
Sorry, Carolina, I don't have that kind of power! It's controlled by each person's ISP and email program. I use gmail and I had to create filters so that you and Jeri (and several others) don't end up in my spam filter. That's all I can suggest. The problem becomes more difficult when the filter is created by your ISP, because you might not know that messages are not getting to you unless you log onto the web interface or you call customer service and get them to unblock those addresses. But if you never see the emails, then you might not know that they're being blocked, and so you're stuck. Re: [lace] AOL mails - I called Technical Support Today
Everyone, I got very angry with AOL this morning and called their premier technical support line to try to fight this through one more time. The interface was a man, Drew, working in Romania (he learned American English from watching American cartoons when he was a child). It took 30 minutes on hold to get connected. Drew seemed to understand this problem. I am on the list to receive mail from Arachne, and a copy of my writing always comes back to me - in my Spam folder !I told Drew about Arachne friends (but not their names) with AOL who also have the problem. I told him names of companies in Canada, England and Spain who dump my mail completely, or into Spam. Drew thinks that sometime in the past 19 years my account was blacklisted. He put in a WHITE LIST REQUEST for my account, which takes effect in 48 hours. That means that by Saturday noon Eastern Daylight Time, it will be processed. By the way, Carolina, when I type Devon's e-mail address on private mail it only shows her address before the @AOL.com. The @AOL is automatically added by the AOL company. I don't think their company would create a problem with AOL, instead of aol ! In the Arachne archive of recently received mail, all addresses sent via AOL show the AOL in all capital letters. The call concluded at 12:35 pm, having taken 50 minutes to maybe fix. I do hope it is fixed because I attended the Winterthur needlework conference last week, and have some interesting things to share.
