[lace] Croatian lacemaker story
One of the joys of the Internet are the hidden gems that come to light. Doing an image search for Croatian bobbin lace, I came across a photo of a pattern that intrigued me. The blurb with it mentioned 1947, so I went to the page. It turned out to be a diary of Anton Zakelj, who at the time, was living in a refugee camp. From what I have read of the 1947 diary, women in the camp were lacemakers. I think he also designed lace...there are a few patterns. Can't wait to get home and read more.
