Last night's LanguageTool nightly diff test

2015-05-06 Thread Marco A.G.Pinto

Hello!

I haven't received the last night e-mail.

Could someone forward it to me so that I may know how pt_PT worked with
my fixes?

Thanks!

Kind regards,
   Marco A.G.Pinto

LT vs. MS Word grammar checker

2015-05-06 Thread Daniel Naber
Hi,

I've run a test comparing LT to the grammar checker of MS Word 2013. The
result for German: 55% of the errors that LT can detect are *not* found
by MS Word.

Here's exactly what we did, with a C# program someone wrote for me:

-Get all incorrect example sentences from the grammar.xml, the errors
marked in bold (use HTML: marker - b)
-Run the program that uses the MS Word API to return + (detected) or
- (not detected) for each sentence

Of course this test is incomplete, as there are probably errors that MS
Word can detect but LT can't. But as we only have error examples for LT,
this is the only direction we can test.

Feel free to run the same test for your language and post the results.
The source code and program is available at
http://danielnaber.de/tmp/MSWordSpellingChecker20150504.zip - it should
be considered a prototype. Sometimes it doesn't get the +/- right so you
should check the result manually if you want exact numbers.

Regards
  Daniel
