Yes, this irritated me too. Attached patch should solve the issue.
Unfortunately, Mantis is unresponsive for me now,
but as soon as it is up again, I will post the patch there too.

I can confirm that the patch works correctly. I used Lazarus 0.9.28.3
rUnknown with FPC 2.4.1 x86_64-linux-gtk 2 (beta).

[Lazarus] bug report: I had to laugh

2010-01-22 Thread Graeme Geldenhuys
Hi,

Anybody had the joy of experiencing the following dialog? See the
screenshot in the bug report.

  http://bugs.freepascal.org/view.php?id=15564

Is somebody promoting bigger LCD screens, or trying to make a argument for
them? :-)

I have same issue, but my resolution is lower, 1024x600 if I remember
correctly. But really is is nota problem, at linux you can move a window
presing Alt+Click+Move movement... So you can move window up and see
buttons :D

What did you select to get such dialog?
I just tested building Lazarus and didn't see it.

Packages Configure Installed Packages (make your selection) Save and
Build.

That pops up the Confirmation dialog, which is the culprit.

I guess a simple screen with message Are you sure (Y/N) would suffice. Or
list the selection in a List Box component. ShowMessage() is definitely
not the best choice.

You are lucky that in Linux you can Alt+Drag the window. In Windows
when this happens you get stuck without acess to the buttons, or you
can just press Enter and hope that it will hit the button.

On Windows you should be able to move a window too with Alt+Space/Move.
Though I am not sure whether this applies to such dialog boxes too.

I wouldn't laugh either. I'm still running a CRT on my main computer at
1024x768, and that box well exceeds the screen boundaries. I'd suggest some
sort of non-editable memo, or at least a scrollbar and window adjusted to
the size of the screen.
