   - Having been a member of Find A Grave for over 5 years, Russ taught
things that I did not know. Always great learning new things. This was
   great information to know.
   - Wow! I learned so much! I had thought I already knew it all about
findagrave. Not so!! There is so much more there than I had thought.
   Thanks! Great webinar!!!
   - Very informative - explained some features and search tips I was
unfamiliar with even though I've used Find a Grave for years. Also
appreciated Jeff's mini-session on source citation and cutting and
pasting from FAG into the source box.

For the genealogy researcher, cemeteries are considered “museums” providing
a link with the past which reflect the culture, history, art, architecture
and attitudes of an ancestor’s era. Data found through cemetery visits, as
well as through online and/or offline cemetery research, may unearth clues
about an ancestor and about the time and place where an ancestor lived.

[LegacyUG] Legacy FamilySearch 7.5.536 Not Working

2014-08-20 Thread Mark Wright
Hi

I am having trouble with using Legacy FamilySearch.  The Family Search
screen appears but no matches are found - even for people previously
matched to FamilySearch records.

I am still on Legacy 7.5 - Has
support for this version stopped and I need to upgrade to continue using
 the integrated FamilySearch features?

Thanks

2014-08-20 Thread Cathy Pinner
Hi Mark,

Sorry, but it's time to upgrade to Legacy 8 if the Legacy FamilySearch
Tree Module is important to you. Changes made at FamilySearch meant that
the module had to be changed and it will not be updated in Legacy 7.5

Legacy 8 is a little different but has some great helpful features -
like the PP alerts

Cheers,
Cathy

Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy FamilySearch 7.5.536 Not Working

2014-08-20 Thread Brian/Support
Yes, Only the latest updates to Version 8.0 will work with FamilySearch
because of changes to the way FamilySearch handles requests from
programs. Legacy 7.5 does not use those new rules therefore FamilySearch
does not respond with any data.

So, does Family Search now control Legacy? Seems that way since Legacy 8 was
developed to accommodate Family Search, and has yet to really work for people
with ongoing projects.

And now, good, reliable, steady Legacy 7.5 is left an orphan. So sad a good
program was abandoned in search of a dubious Holy Grail.

2014-08-20 Thread Cathy Pinner
CE

In your antagonism for Legacy 8 you really are getting yourself muddled.
The FamilySearch interface has been a priority for a long time and the
module was a big focus for 7.5.
It came over into Legacy 8 virtually unchanged but has developed since
as the FamilySearch site has changed.
Legacy 8 has brought us other features of value.

If FamilySearch is of no interest to you, then Legacy 7.5 will continue
to work for you as well as ever. The bugs in it will never be fixed
whereas the bugs in Legacy 8 are being continually addressed.

I agree about 7.5.

I have been a Legacy user for many, many years and always upgraded to the

list that I decided to stay with 7.5. I can do without FamilySearch integration.

You can't be serious. Legacy 8 has all the great features of earlier versions
of 7.5, and the programmers are still working to accommodate those who choose
