1. If it was sent to the list our list servers are not relaying it to LUG
subscribers. ALL mail from the list server will have [LegacyUG] added to the
subject line if it not a reply to another list message and already contains
[LegacyUG]. This is added to the subject line by our mail server when it
processes any new email for relay to the LUG subscribers. These bogus
messages only have a subject Thank You without the [LegacyUG] added by our
servers.

2. Legitimate mail from our list servers will always have the list as the
reply to address. Some of our staff also received these spam messages and
have examined the headers on the bogus messages. They have a reply to
address which is not the list and is probably the spammer.
Anyone replying will become a victim of other spammers since he will harvest
your email address from your reply (knowing it is a good
address) and sell it to fellow spammers.

Hi Cathy:  When you changed the font the new one was too large for the space
provided.  The information is still there just not small enough to be visible.
You can easily switch it back to the original.

I was about to close Legacy 9 when I decided to change the Ribbon Style.
It changed but I got a series of Individual # was not found errors.

I tried again by going to Design Font and changing the Font size.
Again the series of errors.
Clicking OK on each one and I've ended with Error 0 as in the attached
image.

This was in the Sample File after I'd been playing with Hashtags.
A Check/Repair doesn't report any error.

Neither of the outputs you want is available as a simple choice of a
predefined report.

You can create a search list for the people you want to include in each
example and print from that with age at death included. The output can
be a .csv (comma separated value) file which can be imported into a
spreadsheet program. Once it is a spreadsheet you can use tools in your

Below is the address it is coming from, I had the same problem yesterday, it

[LegacyUG] Report for ages of death in one line

2016-06-22 Thread Jeff
Hi

I would like to create a report that would give me the "ages of death" of
everyone whose surname was xyz.

Also another report of ages of death of all who are descended from a
certain individual.

Is that possible in Legacy 7.5? How would I go about it?

Being greedy: if the above is possible, could I automatically make a
longevity graph from it?

Thanks

Jeff

I have no clue. But my load from the list since yesterday was not that heavy. I
was just pointing out that you added another email to the load. This list does
seem to be a challenge at times.

Re: [LegacyUG] email issue

2016-06-22 Thread Jodi
I had the same problem I did what Steve Hayes said I put a block on the
reply-to-address and put the e-mail in my spam.  I have nothing today.  I had
one time 1009 e-mails with the same problem, then I cleared those out, and got
908 more, cleared those out, and some e-mails I needed for medical issues
popped up then I got spammed with 800 more!  I was ready to just block the
whole thing but called my computer guy and he told me to do what I did.  Hope
it works for you.

Re: [LegacyUG] Showing marriage tags

2016-06-22 Thread Linda Greethurst
Jenny and Sherry,
Thank you - yep, just sitting there slapping me in the face!! I was
looking in the settings for a place to change the marriage tags. In the
individual pages, I have tags 4, 5, 6 showing right now and those were the
tags also showing in the marriage tags. So assumed they were the same, but
didn't understand why the "x" from the individual pages weren't showing
up. Oh, those wrong assumptions hit again.

So now, instead of just 9 tags on individual pages, I have another 9 tags
under marriages. ALL RIGHT!!! I like to use the tags to show what
events/research that I DO HAVE DONE; and I can see at a glance what I'm
missing.

Thank you.

Linda,

The Marriage Tags *are* what you see in the Marriage List. The only place
where you see tags there is on the far right and it's for the marriage, not
the individuals in the marriage.

You can also see Marriage Tags on the Marriage Bar on the Family View -
again, far right.

Marriage Tags do show in the Marriage List!

As with the Name List, the default is to show Tag 1, 2 and 3 but if you
click Options at the bottom of the Marriage List you can progress to
Advanced Tagging to change which Marriage Tags will show on the Marriage
List.

I haven't used Marriage Tags up to now so when I viewed my Marriage List
I saw no Tags indicated, but I went to one couple's
Marriage/Relationship Information screen and tagged their marriage 5.
Then I went to Advanced Tagging to show tags 1, 5 and 9 on the Marriage
List and the couple showed up with Tag 5. (Individually they were both
tagged 1, but this was - quite correctly - not showing.

When you say "master picture" do you mean what Legacy calls the
"preferred picture"? The one you select to be the "preferred picture"
(if you attach more than one) is the one which appears on the Family
View and the Pedigree View and it can be usefully included in Reports if
you wish.

Pictures that you attach to Source Detail - and there may be several
attached to one Source Detail or different ones for each of many Source
Details - will not show up the person's Media Gallery or on the Family
or Pedigree Views. You will only see them when looking at the specific
Source Citation. Note that you can also attach pictures to a Master
Source. You can include Master Source and/or Source Detail pictures
with the Source Citations on some Reports - and there are lots of
options if you do choose to do so - but the result is often pictures
which are too small to be much use.

Re: [LegacyUG] Print citations for individual?

2016-06-22 Thread Cathy Pinner

Jean,

The only way you can get that is to do an Individual Report and choose
to include everything you can so that all sources are included.
Save the report to Text file (once you've chosen txt the Print button
changes to Create if you haven't done this) and then delete the data and
leave only the citations.

all the source citations for that person. I don't want to see the
event the sources are linked to, just the citation itself.

I've tried to solve this via a combination of find/search filters,
tagging, and various report types, to no avail. Has anyone cracked
this nut?
