[LegacyUG] Sources - a different question

2016-08-31 Thread Ian Thomas
Is there a way to report which persons do (or do not) have Sources attached?

Or, to search all persons for a particular string within the Source
'attachments' ?

My reason for asking is to locate in my Legacy data some imported or merged
persons that resulted from matching with tree information from online
sources (eg, Ancestry of FamilySearch).

Re: [LegacyUG] FTM file to Legacy -can SKS act as intermediary, please

2016-08-31 Thread Denise Moss-Fritch
FTM 2014 works fine with Win 10. I have that software on this laptop (new
hardware purchase), yet have an older laptop upgraded (Win 7 --> 8.1 --> 10)
with FTM 2014 and both work fine with the software. I even rebuilt the OS for
the older laptop, followed by installing FTM 2014, and that went okay.

(Jenny M Benson) Which version of FTM was being installed? Please remember that
Ancestry sold FTM with support and any older install / registration checks no
longer active since those activities were with companies no longer involved
with FTM.

Hope the problem is sorted but I find it strange that FTM won't work

on or with Windows 10.

My old FTM program from the days of Windows 95 and 98 still works

as went into it other day to check on some data and exported a file to Legacy.

Since I bought it years ago I have gone through numerous computers,

XP, Windows 7 and now 10.

Just curious has any-one else experienced this.

Re: [LegacyUG] changing sentance wording

2016-08-31 Thread Denise Moss-Fritch
You can change the sentence for the event type (all uses of that event) or
only for the once instance of an event type (local event).

If the first type of change (all uses of the event type), from an event
click 'Edit Event Sentence Definition'.

Or, select the View tab > Master Lists > Events Definition. From the Master
Event Definition List, select the event for which you want to change all
uses of that event sentence and click the Edit button.

Both methods open an Add/Edit an Event Definition dialog for that event to
which you can change the sentence used globally for that event type.

If you want to change the sentence for a specific event (one use of an
event, not all), open the event and check Sentence Override (next to the
Notes tab). You can then change the sentence for that specific event without
changing the sentence used for all instances of that event type.

This action is required because of the DMARC Reject/Quarantine Policy

Just use the "Edit Event Sentence Definition" button at the bottom of the event

It's real easy, once you decide on the wording you want.

You can attach photos to Events, to Sources, to Source Details, to the Birth,
Christening, Death and Burial Events already listed in the Family View, and
just in general, as someone else just said. Does not have to be on Added Events.
