Re: [LegacyUG] video media

2019-02-28 Thread David Fisher
Hi
I think my problem may be my convertor
Originally it was a mp4 (vimeo)file that i converted first to avi and tested.
No luck

Now trying another convertor. May change to something simple such as mpg.file

I already have coded a button to open vimeo in an event, but i would like to
use legacy.
I will let you know if i get it right

Regards
dave

1. I use Videolan's VLC Media Player as my default video player so that
may have an impact.

2. I tried three methods for linking to a .avi file in Legacy:

a. linked to the video in my D:\Documents folder. Left the file there.
b. Copied the file to my desktop (you mentioned you had your file there
I think).
c. Asked Legacy to copy the file to the media folder.

In all three cases when I double clicked on the video icon in Legacy the
file opened in VLC media player and played like it should.

I then changed the file association in Windows to open the file with
Media Player. With that setting all three icons in Legacy opened and
played the file with Media Player.

I did find a Windows Knowledge Base article on Media Player that
indicates it is not available in certain editions of Windows 10 (mainly
for business and corporate users). This may not apply to you since I
think you also said your file plays in Media Player outside of Legacy.
That same article mentions a Windows Feature pack that you may need to
install to get the Media Player.

Re: [LegacyUG] video media

2019-02-28 Thread Chris Hill

Hi Dave

OK, this a bit weird. I very rarely ever get in to the option to
move or reference to a media file. On my systems Legacy virtually always
just shows me my Media folder so that I can locate the file to link to
the event etc.

That said, I did, and I don't know how, manage to get the choice to
move or refer to a file. Told it to copy it, which it did, and the file
is now shown as a video roll in the media gallery and runs on a double
click. And the file has been physically copied.

Part of the problem, my viewpoint, is that I always work on the
basis of putting the file in the correct place and then just tell Legacy
to link to it, when it will just point me to the Media folder.

Hopefully someone else will have a better view on what is wrong.

Regards

Chris

Subject: [LegacyUG] Relinking media Problems and questions

Hello,

Lost my main computer and am in the process of trying to relink my documents
(jpg, gif, etc). My first problem and question goes like thisWhen letting
Legacy 9 search for my missing media on it's own, it always starts on my "C"
drive. I have nothing there and as far as I can tell, I do not have any
libraries/sources pointing to my C drive. This wouldn't be too bad except that
during the media search on the "C" drive, Legacy freezes up and I have to do a
three finger salute to close it out and start it again. This is a Windows 7
computer by the way I saw a Legacy page with instruction on this for Windows
10, didn't apply to me, so I passed it by.

Can someone tell me how to stop Legacy from searching my "C" drive?

My second question also pertains to relinking media, though I manually search
for it. When I relink a media file to a sourced event, is there any way to have
Legacy relink the same media file to other events that use the same source? It
is a PITA to have to go through and manually relink a jpg to multiple copies of
the same source.

Thank you in advance for any help here.

Mark
