[LegacyUG] Marriage Notes in Ancestor Book Report

2019-05-09 Thread johnbernacki1
In Ancestor Book Reports I cannot see any difference whether or not Marriage
Notes has been selected (under Notes/Stories). The Marriage Notes are always
included and appear identical. What have I missed?

[LegacyUG] Master Source setup

2019-05-09 Thread John Faulks
Hi

I am trying to be more diligent with sources and it is working well when I
look at existing Master sources and it is already there (e.g. England
Births and Christenings, 1538-1975).

However with Australian BDM sites, there are separate locations, one for
each state. I can only see "Australia, Victoria Birth Index, 1837-1920" in
my Master Source list. I mostly use the NSW site with a small mix of VIC
and QLD and would like to add the missing states

Is there a way to pull in existing citations for these other states vs. me
creating yet another Master Source that is likely to be different? Right
now, I have these sources in the notes field, e.g. "NSW BDM birth 9799/1865"

Thanks

John Faulks

Re: [LegacyUG] Cloud Backups --> use OneDrive instead

2019-05-09 Thread Ian Thomas
If your hardware is Apple (“MAC”), then the only way that you are using Legacy
Family Tree is via Windows – isn’t that correct?

Your choices are to create a Microsoft Account (via Windows 10 or a prior
version of Windows – note that Windows 7 is at end of support), and use
Microsoft’s OneDrive as an “app” within Windows for your off-site backup. You
will get 5GB of free storage. Or, to use your (Apple) iCloud storage in
similar fashion.

I believe that there are several (“MAC”) users of Legacy who will be able to
give you precise details about how to use either of these alternatives.

For those using Microsoft Windows (all versions) - isn't everyone? - OneDrive
gives you 5GB (approx. 5,000MB) of storage, for free. This has been so since
2016 (previously, it was up to 15GB for free).

See https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-au/plans/ (Australia) -
https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-us/plans/ (USA)

(the country-code is only relevant for the paid storage plans, for your country
and currency).

I haven't had a problem with OneDrive in the past 8 years. It’s always there.

There has been much talk on the Facebook Users Group about failure of Cloud
Backups in Legacy 9.0. The Legacy rep announced a few days ago that the server
which provides this service failed and has to be replaced. She did not know how
long the server would be down but she urged all users to continue making their
local media backups in the interim.
