Re: [LegacyUG] Hints - only getting FMP

2021-05-07 Thread Ian Thomas
Cathy – I think the suggestion in your last para (MH search) is probably my
first call; I’ll then do the others except Refresh.

I noticed after posting (yesterday) that Legacy was crashing - consistently –
when I clicked Customize, even after doing all the backup/repair etc. It was
strange as I never have problems with Legacy, and there is huge amount of disk
space, memory, etc.
That crash problem has ceased – for no reason I can fathom. I have not
restarted Windows .. but I should do so, anyway.

Ian,
MyHeritage hints are very slow since they've been throttled.
Make sure the refresh period is at the maximum 120 days. I'd also resist the
temptation to refresh hints. This wipes hints for that hint supplier but put's
everyone for whom hints have been requested in the hint queue again.
It would be better to delete the Hints file ~hdb.hdb or double
click the 1 in front of the first quick bookmark to open the Hints Monitor and
click Start over there which erases the file for you.

Alternatively, if you need quick hints from MyHeritage, use the Internet Search
for MyHeritage. Search > Search Internet or Internet > Search Internet. They
go to the same place and you can choose your site. Note you can add your own
internet searches here as well. The Help from it explains how to do that.

Check that you have the relevant box checked at Options 8.13. Also
that you have a reasonable amount of time specified for refreshing the
search.

Re: [LegacyUG] How to Backup to Drop Box please

2021-05-07 Thread Cathy Pinner

Carolyn,
Yes. Unless you have told Dropbox to only keep that folder online, then
it's available offline.
Simple use of Dropbox simply syncs some folders on your computer with
the Dropbox cloud and with any other computer you have linked to that
Dropbox account unless you have invoked Selective Sync in Dropbox.

Joyce, If you see "My Computer" you can expand it to see drives and then
folders ...
You might want to watch YouTube videos on File management or File
Explorer to understand these computer screens better.

I can't figure out how to tell Legacy any place other than "My Computer".
Can someone give us step by step directions?
Thanks,
