Re: [LegacyUG] Moving Legacy to another disk drive

2023-01-02 Thread Ian Thomas
Thank you Brian - that is the information I need.

I have had a long-term problem with Legacy crashing when I try to access some
parts of the Customise (particularly, section 6 = Locations). So it might be
useful for me to remove/delete the _AppData under Legacy, and start again.
That is a separate problem - I hope it is fixed that way.

The move of Windows 10 Documents is unrelated to Legacy - it is on an SSD which
is a bit small, and something else than Downloads, Documents and Legacy is
using space on that location and I have larger HDD to use for Docs, Legacy,
etc.

Yes, You will need to copy the Legacy folders from their current location to
the new drive/documents before you open Legacy after redirecting Windows to the
new drive.

When legacy starts if it does not see the _appData folder in the Windows
Documents folder for the user it will create a new one using the default copies
from the Legacy Install files in the Windows Program Files folders. This will
effectively reset all your options to default values.

files, where there are folders under the standard Documents folder location.

The procedure to change the Windows Documents folder from C: drive to
somewhere else, is straightforward and reliable.

(The new location will not be a cloud location such as Dropbox or OneDrive)

If (example only) that folder is changed to hard drive F:\Documents\,
will the Legacy files and folders (including Media) require copying and
changes for all Legacy folders/files?

Thanks, in anticipation.
