Re: [LegacyUG] 20002 error
Sally, I doubt if anybody can answer your question as to why now. This is not a Legacy Error number and I have read that it may be due to Registry errors. In reply to a previous query on this List see the Legacy answer at http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@mail.millenniacorp.com/msg48630.html. If this does not help, I also like the approach as outlined in the System Restore seeing that you indicate that you didn’t have a problem efore this current hiccup occurred. http://www.wiki-errors.com/err.php?wiki=20002 Kind Regards Mark Lang From: Ron Ferguson [mailto:ronfergy@tiscali.co.uk] Sent: Thursday, 19 January 2012 8:45 PM To: LegacyUserGroup@LegacyUsers.com Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] 20002 error Sally, I doubt if anybody can answer your question as to why now. RE: [LegacyUG] 20002 error
Sally, if the error is caused by a damaged system file and if you are using Vista or Windows 7 you can try these steps Start, All Programs, Accessories Then right mouse click on Command Prompt and run as Administrator [If you have to confirm this, then you have User Account Control turned on, which is not recommended for Legacy users] type SFC /SCANNOW without the quotes. This runs a windows system check and attempts to repair any errors it finds. It can take some time depending on your system. If, at the end of the scan, it displays a message indicating that it found errors and could not fix them, then run it a second time. If that doesn't work, you may have to resort to a system restore to an earlier date. If the message is along the lines that it found errors and fixed them all, then type Exit without the quotes to close the command prompt window and see if that resolves your problem. If the message is Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations, then corrupt system files is not your problem. Re: [LegacyUG] 20002 error
Please go to our website at http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/helpJetServPk.asp and follow the steps there. In step 1, where it says to update Legacy, rather than just updating, do the following: After you uninstall Legacy, with Windows Explorer find and look in the C:\Legacy folder or whichever folder you had Legacy installed in. Within this folder you will find several files remaining that you will need to delete. Within this folder you will find several files remaining that you will need to delete. Carefully delete the following files with the file extension of: .usr (defined as USR File) .exe (defined as Application) DO NOT delete any of the folders like the Data folder, Picture Folder or Web Folder as these folders hold your data and you don't want to accidentally delete your family file or pictures. Don't delete any reports you may have saved to the main Legacy folder nor should you delete the Legacy*.lic file. All the other files should be deleted. You'll need to reset your preferences after you reinstall. Download the latest build of the Standard Edition from our website by clicking on the Download menu button. If you have the Deluxe Edition, you may need to go to Help Unlock Legacy Deluxe to unlock the Deluxe features after you reinstall. **When you reinstall, make sure that all other programs are shut down and your anti-virus and anti-spyware software is disabled.**. Re: [LegacyUG] 20002 error
You might look at Revo Uninstaller for deleting the old system. It seems do a little better than the Windows uninstall.
