RE: [LegacyUG] FW: Missing Media Files

2013-12-31 Thread David Abernathy
Your backups of these images would have the correct names, you do have a backup
of them don’t you?

Thanks,

Subject: [LegacyUG] FW: Missing Media Files

While I am trying to recapture all the lost images for my 14K lost links, I
think it would be faster if I let the relinker do its job. Since the original
files are missing and cannot be recovered except manually, I have been
obtaining the images but find that if I do not name them exactly like they
were, the relinker cannot find them. Then I must relink them all manually.
For instance, I may have named the image: Gilmer, John - 1870 Census, or I may
have named it: Gilmer, John T - 1870 Census. Is there some way to discover
what it was previously named by identifying the link somewhere in Legacy? Then
I could simply acquire the images, name them the same and then let the relinker
do it's thing.

Thanks for your consideration.

Dave

When start the relinker there should be an offer to create a list of
missing media. That will create a text list which you can open and
save in Notepad (or your default text editor) for later reference.
