[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157735] Small Caps Style Issue

2023-10-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157735

I do not understand what you are saying.

The example you added seems to confirm my problem which is this:
In a style, you can have every word capitalized, or
you can have the sentence in small caps, but
you cannot have both

in the menu: after selecting the sentence, then
format/text/capitalize every word, then
selecting the sentence again, then
format/text, tick the small capitals option
you get both

the alternative is to type every word with a cap first letter, then set the
style to be "small caps"

I guess this last option is not a burden, especially if the usual approach is
not to capitalize short words, as in
This is a Capitalized Sentence

a style guide says:
"Capitalize the first and last words in titles and subtitles, and capitalize
all other major words (nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and
conjunctions with four or more letters)."

OK, you win.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157751] New: paragraph numbering -- Writer

2023-10-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157751

Bug ID: 157751
   Summary: paragraph numbering -- Writer
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.2.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: j...@cspv.hu

hi,

Paragraph numbering would be a very pleasant enhancement. It would allow for a
comfort of not having to choose a workaround.
I think it is exactly as important as line numbering, if not more.

The old chapter numbering that evolved into "heading numbering" is not it.

Using list function is almost there... but it excludes using other lists in the
text. Also, it should be as simple as line numbering, so, it should evolve from
that.

Dear DarwinSurvivor,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.

Dear Telesto,

It seems Skia is causing the issue, at least on Windows anyway. Indeed, turning
off Skia under Tools > Options > View seemed to fix the issue. Not sure if this
is the same on Linux.

Note: Luboš Luňák no longer seems to be an active developer.

With regards to delay in response, I've seen it occur on the PDF option dialog
on the master build on Windows, but it is more apparent if the width/height is
set to a larger number (like 10 cm).

1. open writer
2. insert a image (insert > image)
3. right click inserted image
4. select Save
5. select file type to PDF and input file name.
6. press save
7. Update Width to a large number like 10 cm (delays already start occurring
just changing this number)
8. Click on up/down arrow buttons on width/height, change measurement (e.g. cm
to inches), change radio buttons for Modify dimensions/resolution

Trying to insert a rectangle with no fill. Not sure if this is the way to do it
but when I do Writer just closes.

1/. "Insert" a rectangle from the Insert menu.
2/. Click on the paint bucket at the right-hand side of the menu (underneath
where it says 'Draw')
3/. Select 'None' from the 'Area' window that pops up.

The issue is with Impress opening that file, those images renders bad. Not
exporting to PDF.

But opening with PowerPoint, seems something is wrong with the contrast of
those images, they render more light, but they have a negative contrast.
Changing the contrast to 0, looks like in Impress.

Seems Impress import it like 0 contrast.

And there are a lot of objects of the same type with the same name.

Please, @Regina could you take a look.

I tested with a LibreOffice guide of 36 MB and 490 pages, it took about 30
seconds to open.

Using LO 7.6.0.3 from F-Droid.

An example file would be useful, but in any case, I think this is already

I agree this would improve discoverability.
Both Office 365 and OnlyOffice have a triangle corner pointing at the sheet.
A "Select all cells" tooltip could also help.

Hmm. So the OBS is a very peculiar beast, and significant effort is spent,
to keep it secure (for its operators & users) and efficient.

Another example of such a 'build service' for a particular platform is
the F-Droid repo - which also needs significant work to keep running.

Both are quite successful in supporting an ecosystem & a platform
though.

Before discussing the requirements & implementation details of such a
service, therefore perhaps the more important question (before
investing TDF resources) is - does it solve a real problem? And if it
does, what other options would be available to solve it?

That seems easy to enforce (if we want to), w/o a build service.

Yup, I agree. But wouldn't perhaps providing ready-made github/gitlab
actions have a similar, but more universal & reusable effect? It would
also be much cheaper to run & maintain. ;)

> 3. Respond to the concerns about security of the binary extensions.
>
I'm not sure that building from source without _very_ thorough review
of foreign code yields anything but a false sense of security.

> 4. Possibility to clarify the license.
>
That also needs thorough review (we already ask for a license on the
extension site).

> 5. Checking the compatibility and possible problems with different versions
>of LibreOffice.
>
That's a valid point, but it does not solve our need to commit to
binary compatibility - the problem is not the extensions we don't have
source code for (we can always inspect the binaries), but the
extensions & basic macros nobody ever sees, because they're on
individual users' computers, or internal to organisations.

Cheers,

Thanks - I have the latest version of libre office and logi options+

The issue seems to be that logi doesnt detect that libre office is the active

Thanks for not forgetting!

I have Libreoffice 7.6.2.1 and still happens the same.

Today I tryed to see if I could find out when it happens... What I've seen is
that I can add data, modify forms, close and open the data base, open and cloe
Writer, etc., and it will go ok. But the bug comes up when I open the data base
after some time, may be more than an hour! So it looks like, at least in part,
it's a cuestion of time!

tdf#157696 a11y Translate "CharStrikeout" to IA2 equivalents

The IAccessible2 text attributes specification [1]
has several different "text-line-through-*"
attributes for indicating strikethrough.

With this change in place, NVDA on Windows (with the WIP branches
to switch both LO's winaccessibility and NVDA to the
IAccessible2 text attributes) announces the striked out
text in the tdf#157696 sample document as expected.

For the qt6 VCL plugin on Linux, this is not the
case yet, because Qt's AT-SPI adaptor does not support
the attributes yet; s.a. QTBUG-118106 [2].

Pending qtbase change implementing that: [3]

While the gtk3 VCL plugin reports 2 attributes, e.g.
"strikethrough: single" and "text-decoration: line-through",
the ATK text attribute specification [4] only mentions a
`ATK_TEXT_ATTR_STRIKETHROUGH` that can be either
"true" or "false", and that is also what e.g.
the gtk4-demo "Text View" -> "Markup" example does,
so the suggested Qt change also does this, which means
that just "strikethrough: true" will be reported when
any kind of strikethrough is in place with the qt6 VCL
plugin and both, this LibreOffice change and the
pending Qt Gerrit change applied.

Here also is the file I used to test. You can see the problem by switching
between Footnote position "end of page" and "end of document."

A few more things:

* I tried it for endnotes, and the send problem happens. (I guess the title
description should be broader.)

* In the video I set the frame to anchor "as character" but using the other
settings doesn't affect the problem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157747] New: Calc select all rows and columns

2023-10-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157747

Bug ID: 157747
Summary: Calc select all rows and columns
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.7.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: admfu...@gmail.com

Description:
In calc you can select all rows and columns by clicking the blank space at the
start of the row and column headers. This space being blank it isn't obvious
that this area does anything. It would be nice to indicate visually that this
area does something when clicked on. Please consider adding an icon to indicate
that an action is available.

Actual Results:
Upper left corner of calc sheet has no visual indication that it has an action
attached to it.

Expected Results:
Add a visual indication that this area of a calc spreadsheet have an action
that can be selected

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
While not a priority this would be a nice visual touch for new users.
