[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157721] SimpleCommandMail: subject and body truncated at the comma (Ubuntu + Thunderbird)

No WHY it is GOOD with SimpleSystemMail on Windows10 ?

For : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=900117
and : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258887

If you respect http://kb.mozillazine.org/Command_line_arguments_-_Thunderbird
Every arguments must be framed by simple quote ! no double quote
(258887-900117)
Arguments "to","cc","bcc","attachment" accept arrays (with comma separator) i
mean is normal for attachment that a comma in file name failed.
Arguments "subject" and "bodytext" shouldn't be arrays !

In any case, it must be informed (in help, in API SDK ) that SimpleCommandMail
is INCOMPATIBLE with Thunderbird ;(

I did see that, but my understanding is that the root issue is the same.

See also: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258887
So, regardless of if the two issues should be kept separate or not, the root
cause is in Thunderbird's handling of commas in the command line.

This statement is wrong. Just add enough decimals to the cell format to see the

Bug ID: 155646
Summary: Decimal calculations are subject to binary float error
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

In any cell in LibreOffice enter the following formula =1475.99-1440.32 and
observe the output.
Expected: 35.67
Actual: 35.67001
It appears LibreOffice is subject to the float errors found in primitive data
types in most programming languages. As a Java developer I am aware of this
float issue and how in Java BigDecimal is used for accurate decimal
calculations. However in a spreadsheet I would expect accurate decimal
calculation by default and this is the case with tools like excel or google
sheets.
Even worse is that if I change the cell format to currency I still observe this
float error. It is worse as currency typically should be using accurate decimal
calculations, I cannot think of a case when currency should use binary float
types.
The version of LibreOffice calc I have tested is 7.5.3.2.

Without commenting on the content of the changes, your problem is that
you have created a series of patches. The expectation is that for a task
like this, you keep updating the single patch. In your latest patch I
also commented about this: https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/144790

You should look at 'git log', see how many of your own commits you have
and then say

git reset --soft HEAD~x

where x is the number of your own commits minus one. Now you have all
your modifications ready to commit with 'git commit --amend' and they
will go toward your first patch which should be this:
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/144374

When editing the commit message, double-check that the Change-Id is

Change-Id: I8a3d7c6695dea16536f1a0ed2c27fbedeb8d

Finally './logerrit submit master' to submit the new patchset.

It's quite simple - if a variable is const it means it should not be
changed. any.getValue() is returning such a variable (const void*), but the
variable is then put into data2string function, which accepts a non-const
variable that can be changed (void*).
So if you don't o a const_cast, the compiler will complain that you can't
put a variable that is said to be unchangeable into a function where it
requires the variable to be changeable, so it complains that it can't do
that.

This is the reason there was/is a const_cast at that place, which says that
"the compiler is dumb and doesn't know what's talking about so covert that
unchangable variable to be changeable so the compiler is silent and stops
bugging the developers".

So how to solve this - at least in this case: looking at the data2string
function the "void* data" input variable is later on cast to a const
something variable anyway, so maybe try to change the input variable type
from "void* data" to "const void* data" and fix any issues you have later
on in the body with this data variable.

Also note that in another const_cast case the situation might be different
and you must check how to solve the issue on a case by case basis (some
possible solutions are in the bug report)

Subject : Help regarding Bug 90341 - Clean up excessive const_cast'ing

2022-11-23 Thread Siddharth Khattar
Hello all,

So I was aiming to do a medium difficulty level easy hack and came
across this one (Bug 90341) which interested me. I then studied what
const_cast does and what was the main issue that this bug was
addressing. As I looked into it more and ran the command " git grep
--word-regexp --count const_cast | sort --numeric-sort --key=2
--field-separator=: ", I got various results and decided to look into
core/xmloff/source/style/impastpl.cxx (lines 144 & 146).
I also decided to go through the previous commits made in the bug
thread for ideas and help, such as these:
https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/7b152167a4e4c3eaac95aee8f282873681c90092%5E%21
and
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=4ae319ae462f3f094452046e392c8c15446736ae.
I then decided to experiment with the file (impastpl.cxx) and then
removed const & const_cast from the above-mentioned lines. Then, when
I tried to build from source I got these errors (please see attached
text file).

I wasn't sure what to make of these errors as nothing helpful came
when I googled them & I also am not heavily experienced in c++ coding.
Then I started reading some documentation of the xmloff file to come
to understand that these files were related to outputting "basic ODF
import/export filter implementation for most applications".

One of the people at LibreOffice (buovjaga) also helped me with this
and pointed out that the any2string function in that file appeared in:
https://git.libreoffice.org/core/commit/c1015fdd51909495cefdc0258c3899cd73d4d2df.
I pondered about contacting the original contributor who pushed this
commit for help but as the commit was 9+ years old I dropped that idea
pretty quickly
I'd really appreciate it if the dev team could help me in any way with
this easy hack and tell me in which direction I should go!

Thanking you for your time,
Siddharth Khattar

We only use java.security.AccessController to wrap creation of class
loaders in AccessController::doPrivileged. Which is the common idiom
for class loader construction, to avoid unnecessary SecurityExceptions
when "a security manager exists and its checkCreateClassLoader method
doesn't allow creation of a new class loader"
()
and the relevant code doesn't yet run with all the privileges it could
run with.

This should still be relevant when running LO against older JRE
installations that might employ such restrictive security managers.
There is no replacement for AccessCotnroller::doPrivileged, and a way
forward is apparently sill being paved. See
"JEP 411: Deprecate the Security Manager
for Removal":

"In feature releases after Java 18, we will degrade other Security
Manager APIs so that they remain in place but with limited or no
functionality. For example, we may revise
AccessController::doPrivileged simply to run the given action, or revise
System::getSecurityManager always to return null. This will allow
libraries that support the Security Manager and were compiled against
previous Java releases to continue to work without change or even
recompilation. We expect to remove the APIs once the compatibility risk
of doing so declines to an acceptable level."

java.security.AccessController deprecated since Java 17 and subject to removal in a future version

2022-11-14 Thread Julien Nabet

Hello,

During a build, I noticed some warning about deprecation of
AccessController.

git grep -n 'java.security.AccessController' gives:

Tim, the link at the page http://meeks.family/Neyman.html works for me on both
mobile (iOS and Safari, opening the mail app) and on desktop (Ubuntu 20.04 with
Firefox 104.0, offering to open various email clients like Thunderbird), with
the subject line "The Neyman Family".

Indeed, the source code of the website contains the following tag:

mailto:contactthemeeksfam...@gmail.com?subject=The%20Neyman%20Family;>

I'm going to mark this bug as "not a bug" given that it seems to work as
expected, and the issue might be with the web browser you are using or the
settings on your computer.

Could you please let us know which web browser you are using to click the link,
and could you please try with a different one? Which email client are you
expecting to be used when clicking the link?

Cheers

Inserting the link is no problem. It is what happen on the page for someone
clicking on the link. When I click on the link online nothing happens at all.
So hence there is an issue.

Hi Tim

I can see that the website you linked does not have a "mailto" hyperlink in the
source code, but I could not reproduce your issue with LibreOffice 7.2 or 7.3
on Linux: inserting a mailto hyperlink always works for me.

What steps exactly are you using?
To have a mailto link, I do the following: select the text to link; go to
Insert > Hyperlink > Mail (or use Ctrl + K); write an email address in the
Recipient field; click OK.

Does that not work?

If it still doesn't, please include a series of steps to reproduce, or an
example document, as well as the version information for the version of
LibreOffice you have (in Help > About LibreOffice).

Hi,
  Forgive me ,I couldn't see your message,and I'm giving such a late
reply.(actually I had sent this before but to wrong email id)

Yes I know c++(intermediate) and python too and I'm solving problems of
contests in codechef and hackerrank.
So I guess I am quite decent at coding.
Since I 'm an Ubuntu user so I always use Libreoffice .Most often I used to
write my stories on libreoffice writer.
I have already started debugging in easy hacks.(also i have already built
libreoffice).
So any help in how to debug would be quite valuable for me.

The information for GSoC is not yet updated for 2019. But you should
indeed already start. Please have a look at
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/GetInvolved and the
start page https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development

Do you have already coding skills?

Do you know LibreOffice as user? Do you have already a favorite area?

Because of the upcoming holidays, reaction might be slower as usual.
Please be patient.

Kind regards

2018-12-02 Thread Jim Raykowski
Hello All,

I have recently been granted the great privilege to be part of the
Commiters group on gerrit. I have notice each time I have committed a patch
a tinder box failure occurs and a message is sent saying "One of you broke
the build of LibreOffice with your commit :-( Please commit and push a fix
ASAP!"

All commits have been +1'd by Jenkins.

So before I break the build again I would very much appreciate commit
pointers.

Thank you,

Thank you for reporting the bug.
it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice.
Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.

Can't reproduce. I modified xmlsecurity/qa/create-certs/create-certs.sh to use
"Aliceéáőű" instead of "Alice" and I can sign & verify signatures on Windows
and master.

Could you test if this is a 6.1 vs master difference?

2018-11-02 Thread Francois Botha
Hello, everyone!

I'm attempting to build LibreOffice on Windows for the first time. I have
meticulously followed the instructions from
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/BuildingOnWindows and used
the recommended settings and paths. I use Win7 x64 system, 64-bit Cygwin
and Visual Studio 2017 Professional.

I have Sybase drivers installed in my C:\Sybase directory as a requirement
of another, independent project.

My autogen.sh command (notice that I added a switch to disable database
connectivity):
/cygdrive/c/sources/libo-core/autogen.sh
--with-external-tar=/cygdrive/c/sources/lo-externalsrc
--with-junit=/cygdrive/c/sources/junit-4.10.jar
--with-ant-home=/cygdrive/c/sources/apache-ant-1.9.5
--enable-pch --disable-ccache --disable-database-connectivity

When I call /opt/lo/bin/make gb_COLOR=1

The last few lines of my make output:
cl : Command line warning D9025 : overriding '/DNOMINMAX' with '/UNOMINMAX'

Notice that, for some reason, the make command is attempting to find
something in my D:\Programs directory. That directory contains many
applications, not relevant to LibreOffice.

Could you please direct me in the right direction to solve this problem? I
couldn't find anything in

Now after clicking Sed E-Mail Messages on the toolbar, the dialog has the same

Still a valid request in the new situation.

LibreOffice is a very big program and getting it built, setting up gerrit, and
getting the first patch right can be a bit challenging, therefore do not
hesitate to email me if you want help.

We have made a step by step guide to help you get started:

Subject: Alex Kempshall license statement

2016-12-06 Thread Alex Kempshall

According to the Credits I joined in 2011-08-14 and did 1 commit.

More than five years later my second commit is on it's way. Thought it
best to renew my licence statement so here it is -

All of my past & future contributions to LibreOffice may be
licensed under the MPLv2/LGPLv3+ dual license.
