This fixes the lilypond-test stage: https://github.com/gperciva/gub/pull/70

The lilypond-doc stage fails for me, but I don't think it's related. There are
messages about shared library versions not being found.

can't update makeinfo from 5.1

2019-10-31 Thread David Nalesnik
Hi all,

I've been out of the loop for a while, and recently decided to finish
work on a patch I had put off. When I run configure, an error is
returned saying that makeinfo is too old (5,2). When I run sudo
apt-get install texinfo, I'm told that I have the latest version.
makeinfo --version still returns 5.2.

I realize that there is a thread devoted to this topic. However, I
find that I will need a little more guidance.

In ~/,bashrc, I find

# This is useful when installing the LilyPond binary
if [ -d $HOME/bin ]; then
export PATH="$HOME/bin:$PATH"
fi

Is this what needs altering?

Thanks, and sorry for what must be a basic question

Best,
David

I'm sorry about the broken link. It's fixed here.

P.S.: IIUC Frescobaldi doesn’t have such problems, does it?

There is certainly a 64-bit Frescobaldi installer for Version 2.20:

https://github.com/frescobaldi/frescobaldi/releases/download/v2.20.0/Frescobaldi-2.20.0-x86_64.dmg

IIUC, there is a 64-bit LilyPond installer created in MacPorts, but that
does not require MacPorts to be installed:

https://web2.storegate.com/share/oCQjV4r

That link is a pretty slow download, so I've mirrored it here:

https://www.et.byu.edu/~sorensen/lilypond-devel-2.19.83_2.mpkg

Malte, if you could try it on a macOS system with Catalina installed and
without MacPorts installed, that would let us know whether or not it works.

Thanks,

Carl

Would any of the online options fit your use case?

MacOS 64bit installer

2019-10-31 Thread Malte Meyn

Hi list,

my university asked me if I could give a LilyPond basics workshop for
students and lecturers. There are some interested people who use
Macbooks with the newest OS on which LilyPond wouldn’t work anymore IIUC.

Of course I would like to give such a workshop but I would need to know
that people can actually use the program without emulators or other
additional software on their own computers because anything else would
be bad advertising ;) Is it foreseeable whether and when a simple
solution will exist for the 64 bit problem?

Cheers,
