Two or three different markets would mean a change in game mechanics
also, and I'm not sure if that's a good idea. At least I haven't had
any problems with current markets. I think it's very important that in
some point markets start filling up and slowing down the flow of
stuff. It makes the game more challenging. With bigger markets that
kind of problem would probably be absent and playing would become more
boring.

Maybe most disturbing thing are those cars in parking lot of the
market. When game has started and schools haven't invented yet, there
are still cars parked in front of the market... Maybe market sprite
could be changed so that the building itself would be same, but
vechiles around it would change: for example from wagons to cars?

Probably, as a better idea, the markets could work in a way similar to
the means of transportation, with the more advanced ones having a higher
capacity (and probably a longer range), but requiring upkeep costs.

The later would probably make the city look more interesting but
we'd end up with different looks for the same function used at the
same time. Probably less confusing than magically upgrade/downgrade
all existing markets when techlevel changes.

When is the new market invented? Some time after streets?

Probably. A flea market would probably be available straight away, a
small market (like the one used now) at 7.5, and a supermarket at 20.0.

I don't think a supermarket is the right image for this building. It
serves more as a warehouse or storage building, since it transfers
coal and steel at an industrial scale. Not really the stuff you would
buy in your local supermarket :) I am working on better images for
this building.

I still think this building should have two different images for the
different eras: an old fashioned street market and a modern warehouse
building. Their function and capacity can be the same, only the looks
would be different. And looks are actually pretty important in a city
building game.

Don't we have this kind of functionality for windmills? If you create
windmill on higher tech level, it looks different. Maybe that
functionality could be copy-pasted.

About the sand roads, I think the current cobblestone roads are fine.
They look old enough in my opinion.

Actually I've never understood they are cobblestone! :D I've always
thought they are asphalt roads...
Cobblestone road is actually good idea, but then I suggest road bricks
are bigger and their borders are more visible, so that they look more
like cobblestone roads.

For now I will do the buildings that don't need additional coding,
 like the old-fashioned houses.

That's good. I could have time later on the spring to check out code
and see what could be done with different sprites for different ages.

How about doing a little face-lift to UI itself? Better menu image
would be nice IMHO. Especially now when it distorts to whatever aspect
ratio screen has.

Hi!

They are quite nice, and definitely better than earlier! Do you have
plans for doing few other sprites also? I'd like to see animated Ore
pit and animated, transparent smoke on some sprites (blacksmith comes
to mind)

 Hello,

It has been a long time ago since I have done anything for this
project. Recently I decided to pick up drawing again.

I don't like the current trees in Lincity, they look like fur balls to
me (I know they're drawn by me ;). I've drawn some new trees, they're
still not perfect, but they look better than the old ones. I made a
screenshot, if you like them I will commit them to the SVN repo. Let
me know what you think :)
