Hi

We replaced the Network adapters on our zPDT server and lost DHCP address
of IPv4. Configuration:

   - The OSA cards now shown as OSD_1000.
   - Addresses are 0400..0402 and 0404..0406
   - Layer 2 is enabled on both.
   - Wicked is up.
   - State is UP (LAN ONLINE).
   - I tried to shut down network and run qeth_configure with no help.

can one explain how to configure the OSA cards so they will obtain IPV4
addresses?

Yes; it was also changed. Internal DR network starts with 10.2.; rest of
the address is the same as in the live network. Every IP address (DNS,
Gateway and the guest's IPADDR) in ifcfg-eth0 was updated to
10.2.original.original.

Subject: [LINUX-390] Changing IP address at DR site

 Hi, All,

Running RHEL 6.3 on z/VM 6.2, and this is our first time bringing them
up at DR. We have an internal
DR facility on an isolated network.

z/VM and all the Linux guests came up at initial IPL of z/VM at DR, and
we changed the IP address in
TCPIP on z/VM to the DR network prefix and bounced it; we have no
problems logging on to z/VM within
 the DR network.

After learning the hard way that vi doesn't play well with a 3270
console session, we tried changing
the IP address of a Linux machine in ifcfg-eth0 with sed. After
changing the address and rebooting
Linux (probably overkill, but), we are unable to connect a putty
session to Linux with the
workstation connected to the DR network. On the 3270 console, we issue
ifconfig and see that eth0 has
the DR network addresses; but still we cannot connect to it with putty.

 Any ideas or suggestions?

 TIA,

 -jc-

What java policy are you using?
We use java gc 'gencon' policy for incremental java heap for some
applications.
Garbage collection may occur more often - but less impact to application
when garbage collection does occur.
Don't know that that is your issue - but something to try.

We have embarked on a project to support our main student/faculty/staff
portal on zLinux. It works fine under a normal workload, but falls over
badly when under a heavy load such as during class add/drop. The portal is
running open source software named LifeRay on top of TomCat on SLES 11
SP1.

We know there is a lot of tuning that needs to be done, but there are a
ton of variables to consider. If anyone on the list has any experience
tuning this sort of environment, i.e. Java without Websphere, we would
love to talk with you. Please drop me a note.
