Its code seems to currently be in the same repo as Non-DAW.
Here is the clone command:
git clone git://git.tuxfamily.org/gitroot/non/daw.git

Apart from the master branch, there is also a next branch with new stuff
and a nsm-proxy branch for the new proxy app.

afaik the maintainer will add NSM support to Carla (?), so I'm sure it will.

If you build the nsm-proxy branch, you're able to add the client
nsm-proxy, which allows you to load apps without a state or without NSM
support and add some arguments to it as you would do on the command line.

It might be a good idea to discuss NSM (and it's implementation) and
compare it with other Session Managers, at LAC2012. Such a conference
could be a nice opportunity to share ideas to improve Linuxaudio session
management in general. Unfortunately I'm not able to attend this year.

For those who go, have fun! :)

Hey Dirk,

We'll miss you ! I still tell people about the fellow who approached me
on a train platform in Dublin and asked if I was Dave Phillips. :)
Well, I hope we'll see you next year, and I'll be sure to hoist a few

Best,

Hehe, I did the same when I saw Bono standing at Dublin central. He

you're famous and people you have no clue about, recognize you in the

This script should work to load LinuxSampler as binary in a nsm-proxy.
The lscp file should be loaded via the argument option in the nsm-proxy.
Only problem I have, it doesn't kill LinuxSampler, when I stop the
nsm-proxy or the session. I probably miss something, maybe someone can
test it too.

#!/bin/bash

linuxsampler

LSPID=$!

# wait for LS to init
sleep 4;

# tell it what file to load
cat $1 | nc localhost

#handle SIGTERM from NSM by killing LS.
trap 'kill -TERM $LSPID' SIGTERM

#wait for LS to die naturally
wait $LSPID

[LAD] Linux Audio Conference 2012 at CCRMA - live stream coverage starting tomorrow

2012-04-11 Thread Jörn Nettingsmeier

Hi *!

On behalf of the conference organizers, we would like to invite you to
join the Linux Audio Conference 2012, kindly hosted by the Center for
Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) at Stanford University.

The conference will start tomorrow, Thursday April 12, at 10:00 PST
(that's UTC - 0700). Please refer to the schedule at

   http://lac.linuxaudio.org/2012/program

for detailed information.

We will be streaming all paper presentations live in Ogg Theora/Ogg
Vorbis format. Users of the Firefox browser should be able to watch this
natively without any plugins. For users of other browsers, we recommend
VLC, a cross-platform media player which you can download from
http://videolan.org.

You are invited to join us on IRC while you're watching the streams, the
conference channel is #lac2012 on freenode.net, to be accessed with the
chat client of your choice, or via
http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=lac2012
Remote participants can post their questions or remarks on this channel,
and a local chat operator here in Stanford will then relay them to the
presenters and the local audience. You can also use this channel to get
help in case of viewing problems.

All presentations will be recorded and uploaded for off-line watching
within a day or so.

Needless to say, access to all streams is free of charge. This is all
about open source after all :)

The primary stream relay is available at

http://ccrma.stanford.edu:8080 (located on the west coast of the US).

A secondary relay which is preferrable for European users is at

   http://streamer.stackingdwarves.net (located in Germany).

Best regards,

the LAC stream team.
