[linux-dvb] Re: Open tuner-box of DBV-S to install heatsink?
normally you shouldn.t remove the metal cover. but as already written by me before, you could do the following w/o changing anything on the card/tuner. first you have to remove the cover. ;) then take an old (eg.486) proz.heatsink with fan, and drill a little hole in the middle. apply some silikon (or silver) paste to the heatsink. then screw it with a VERY short screw (so it won.t get in contact with the tuner board!!), the heatsink to the cover. you can feed the fan with 5 or 7 volts, so you won.t hear it, but the dvb-s card stays handwarm. good luck! servus hannes! Johannes Schoeller [EMAIL PROTECTED] icq 2802639 during the recent hot days I noticed that the tuner-box is running quite hot. The backside is so hot that you can't touch it. I would like to install some heatsink to it, but I think it wouldn't be very efficient to mount it just on top of the box. May I remove the cover to install the heatsink to the individual chips? Or isn't this a good idea with disturbance of radio, tv or cell phones in mind? -- Info: To unsubscribe send a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe linux-dvb as subject.

[linux-dvb] Little suggestion for DTV
Not everybody is using an universal LNB. Most motorized installations have a Full-Band LNB, ans LO frequencies are different. Also, the 13V/18V commutation is used to switch the band, and not the polarisation. It would be nice if the LNB characteristics could be configured easily (without patching the source files). Even for those having an universal LNB, it may be interesting to adjust the LO frequency, since the AFC is not very efficient. If I offset the LO frequencies of a few megahertz, I have no more tuning problems. Jean-Claude -- Info: To unsubscribe send a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe linux-dvb as subject.

If you only have one LNB, you can use the global options dvbDefaultDiseqcNr: default is 0 dvbDefaultLnbLsof : default is 11700 dvbDefaultLnbFreqLow : default is 9750 dvbDefaultLnbFreqHigh : default is 10600 to change the LNB settings. For Diseqc setup please read the transponders.dcl.diseqc file for the Diseqc satellite definition, which includes LNB settings for each satellite. To reference a channel of a certain satellite the satellite identifier has to be added for each entry of the 'define_available_channels' list, but this is done automatically by dtv_scan if you have defined a Diseqc setup. Or more concrete: Am I able to use the DVD-Playback on a DVB-C card using Matjaz Thalers Player? If not, what is the reason? If you'll use a Technotrend DVB-C card, yes. It is similar with DVB-S version, except the tunner part, of course. So, you can use it to decode DVD's or MPEG2 files. I tried and it worked. The Siemens DVB-C version it's different, but it is supported by this driver, so it should be able to do that. Thanks a lot... [linux-dvb] Two DVB-s: what's wrong
Hello, finally I got my second Hauppauge DVB-s. When tried to test the parallel replay / record feature I got the message below: I've an old and a new DVB-s. Each one is working- I tested seperately. DVB-driver is the mix of Martin Hoffmann (2001-07-05): most parts from 25.06. and some from today's CVS. I tried some older / newer drivers- same result. [linux-dvb] Cutting in VDR
Hello all, first i want to report a bug regarding cutting in vdr 0.83. When using the 7 and / or 9 keys to steer to a set mark the vdr process takes almost all the cpu time :-( - although the mark has been reached and olnly one picture is shown. So pressing 2, to start the cutting process takes longer than it should be, unless you leave the playback process... Second i wanted to ask if it would be possible to implement some kind of signal (audio or osd), that tells the user, if a command via remote control was understood ! So the problem is the following : When cutting it sometimes happenes that the 0 for the cutting mark just isn't recognized , although i have pressed the button and it's annoying to find out at the end of the cutting process that one mark is missing :-( So a small audio beep or a OSD MARK or something would be nice! So don't get me wrong, this isn't important, just an idea, that i'd like to share with you... Cheers, Martin. -- Info: To unsubscribe send a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe linux-dvb as subject.
