Re: [linux-dvb] Hauppauge Nova-T-USB2 define Remote Control Keys

2006-08-21 Thread Mark Schwarz

 Is there a way to define the remote control keys?

At time only the number and arrow keys are working.

Hi,
have you tried irrecord?

irrecord is from lirc, if i right? I don't have lirc installed because,
the kerneldriver for the device provides the romote control to act
as a input device. Everything works out of the box, but the device
is a second edition and there some changes i think.

Thanks anyway
mark

Thanks for the reply Peter,

Unfortunately I think the new mac pros only have PCIe slots - still
tempted though!

Good to know its not a 64bit issue.
I'll try to work through the code - guess I could always buy a second
tuner card...

  I added something to my repository which should fix it:

  Can you give it a try:

 The patch doesn't work : in OUTMODE_MPEG2_FIFO you still erase the pid parse
 bit.

 Here a patch that works.

 Unfortunately on french tnt, the bandwidth share on a transponder is not usb1
 friendly :
 - the transponder bandwidth is 24 Mbps
 - there are 5 or 6 channels per transponder (it make an average 4Mbps
 bandwidth)

 Instead of having all channel near the average 4Mbps, they put the average
 lower (2.5-3 Mbps) and the extra bandwidth is given (sometimes randomly) to
 some channels.
 This make peak 7 Mbps on some channels [1] and usb1 mode doesn't seem to
 support such bandwidth (may be if iso were used, it could have worked).

 Some transponder are more usb1 friendly and put the extra bits in pid 8191 (up
 to 4-5 Mbps)...

[linux-dvb] [PATCH] Fix the output from scan utility for vdr

2006-08-21 Thread e9hack
Hi,

the scan utility from dvb-apps creates a wrong channel.conf for vdr. Vdr uses
the original network id instead of the
network id. The attached patch does fix this little problem.

[linux-dvb] Scan Data for DVB-S in North America

2006-08-21 Thread Garnet MacPhee
I have compiled by hand, from LyngSat, scan data for most FTA satellites visible in North America, and I would like it to be
made available to anyone that wants it. I have not included any subscription channels, or NTSC. Many of these channels are on
the air only rarely (feeds). Some are encrypted, as there are some transponders (especially on IA5) that have both encrypted
and clear channels. For FEC I used AUTO, because I'm lazy and on my system it works just as well as specifying it. With my
system I get about 190 TV and 80 radio channels.

I am attaching the data as a .tar.gz file (hope this is the correct procedure).

Re: [linux-dvb] Scan Data for DVB-S in North America

2006-08-21 Thread Dave Schile
Yes, I just looked at that. I attached the file as a tar.gz file, but it
got changed to tar.bin. I don't know why, but it appears that that is a
security thing, and I don't know the proper procedures. The files should go
to to dvb-apps, but I don't know how to get them there. I am not a
developer.

When I set up my system I was unable to find any data on the web for North
American satellites, except for a couple of EchoStars with encrypted data.
So I created my files by hand. I was hoping to save somebody a lot of work.
I didn't mean to step on anyone's toes.

 With kernel 2.6.17.9 see atached log1.
 With kernel 2.6.18-rc4 with kernels drivers and with last mercurial drivers
 see log2.
 After that errors I need to reboot.

Does this happen without the proprietary graphics card taintware?

I've been using again the WinTV NOVA T USB2 and the module behaved better today.

This is what it looks like after a make unload in the v4l directory.
On the other hand I did not have any Oops and I was able to unplug and
replug the USB cable.
Maybe there is nothing wrong in that, it would be nice, though, to be
able to remove modules from memory.

[linux-dvb] Artec T1 USB1.1 TVBOX with AN2235 - Bulk message failed: -22

2006-08-21 Thread Alistair Buxton

Hi, I bought one of these Artec T1 devices yesterday, been scratching
my head trying to get it to work. I'm getting the exact same error as
reported by Iain Wallace a couple of weeks ago here:

http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2006-August/012066.html

Now I think I have worked out what is happening. According to dmesg:

dvb-usb: found a 'Artec T1 USB1.1 TVBOX with AN2235' in warm state.

But lsusb says:

Bus 002 Device 005: ID 05d8:8107 Ultima Electronics Corp. Artec T1 USB
TVBOX with AN2235 (cold)

So, it looks to me as if the dvb-usb module thinks that the device has
already had it's firmware loaded, when in fact it has not. I assume
this is what is meant by warm and cold. This would also explain
why the device works when the firmware has already been loaded by
Windows, as others have reported.
After the firmware is loaded on Windows, the device ID changes from
8107 to 8108.

linux-2.6.15.7/drivers/media/dvb/dvb-usb/dvb-usb-ids.h confirms this:

#define USB_PID_ULTIMA_TVBOX_AN2235_COLD0x8107
#define USB_PID_ULTIMA_TVBOX_AN2235_WARM0x8108

After a bit mre grepping I found this in dibusb-mb.c:

static struct usb_device_id dibusb_dib3000mb_table [] = {
...
/* 21 */{ USB_DEVICE(USB_VID_ULTIMA_ELECTRONIC,
USB_PID_ULTIMA_TVBOX_AN2235_COLD) },
/* 22 */{ USB_DEVICE(USB_VID_ULTIMA_ELECTRONIC,
USB_PID_ULTIMA_TVBOX_AN2235_WARM) },
...

   {   Artec T1 USB1.1 TVBOX with AN2235,
   { dibusb_dib3000mb_table[20], NULL },
   { dibusb_dib3000mb_table[21], NULL },
   },

So it looks like the box is being misidentified because these array
indexes should be 21,22 instead of 20,21.

So I recompiled my kernel with this change. Now when I plug the box in
I get this:

Aug 22 00:10:52 desktop kernel: [17232880.768000] usb 2-1: new full

Now the green light power comes on, so that's progress, I think. But
straight afterwards my computer locks up hard, without even time to
print any further error messages.
