Ah I'll dig them out and give them a whirl let you know Thank you On Thu, 2006-10-19 at 16:13 -0400, Michael Krufky wrote: Malcolm Caldwell wrote: On Wed, 2006-10-18 at 22:40 +0100, Andrew Waldram wrote: As I couldn't find the post thought I'd better link it here ;-) http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2006-October/013572.html shows the error I get when trying to tune I get the same errors. I believe they are due to the frequencies in UK and Australian being offset from the centre frequency. The qt1010.h file seems to have been hardcoded that the frequency must be divisible by 200. The problem is not in the megasky m920x / gl861 driver itself -- rather, the qt1010 code is not complete. There are some pending patches on the linux-dvb list that you should feel welcome to try. I have not applied these yet, because I am unsure as to whether or not they are appropriate. --Mike ___ linux-dvb mailing list linux-dvb@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/linux-dvb
Re: [linux-dvb] re: megasky does it actualy tune then???
How right you are these patches do not help at all it does look like Malcolm could well be right. Is there any good documentation where to start sniffing/reverse engineering (I'm not stupid but pretty vague at times;-) ) On Thu, 2006-10-19 at 17:04 -0400, Michael Krufky wrote: On Thu, 2006-10-19 at 16:13 -0400, Michael Krufky wrote: The problem is not in the megasky m920x / gl861 driver itself -- rather, the qt1010 code is not complete. Andrew Waldram wrote: Ah I'll dig them out and give them a whirl let you know Even still, I dont think those patches will solve it entirely. As I understand it, the qt1010 code was reverse engineered... This means that as it is now, it will probably only work for the tv standards used by the author who did that reverse engineering. (megasky contributors cc'd) Markus has told me that the qt1010 code doesnt work in his em2880 devices either, so I have to assume it is due to this very fact. If you're feeling adventurous, it might be a good idea to sniff usb traffic from the windows driver, and see how the tuner is being controlled. Perhaps you might need an alternate setup in qt1010.h for it to work properly. If we can get a working setup from you, hopefully qt1010.h can eventually be converted into a proper tuner module, and work for various different setups. Unfortunately, since both m920x and gl861 drivers use qt1010, and there arent yet any known working devices using m920x or gl861 with a tuner other than qt1010, we'll have to continue to hold this code in the experimental megasky repository. I'll do my best to keep this tree relatively up-to-date with the master repository. We're a bit behind right now, but nothing significant. If there are any major API changes in the master branch, I will regenerate the megasky tree to reflect them. [linux-dvb] megasky does it actualy tune then???
Hi, I see from the reply to malcolm that you Michael Krufky imply that the current driver should work to some degree. Yet as far as I am able to see once the driver is compiled it will install but is not able to tune (previous post gives details.) I have seen 2 reports of this on the net and also reported that in this group. If I have done something daft could you point me in the right direction.
