Hi,

This is a very beautiful area. What we really should do is host a Linux
weekend there.
Get to Zipori on Friday evening, eat dinner together, go to sleep, wake up,
tour the area - and all this time speak of linux and non-linux things. Maybe
we can even scheduele a lecture.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Chen.

Well, since most of IGLU is in Tel-aviv/Jerusalem rides should be pretty
easy.
Also you can use EGGED on friday afternoon and saturday night.

Also - why don't we rent a bus? if lots of people join in, it won't cost
more than Egged. (Maybe one of the nice companies will fund the bus in
exchange to all of us wearing their t-shirts for the weekend? :-)

Thanks,
Chen.

There may also be buses even during the Saturday, operated by companies from
Nazeret, but you'll have to check this out to be sure.
Of course, this also means that religous people won't be able to join us, but
I don't see what the alternative is (I doubt anybody will want to do such a
day on a working day).

Rent a bus from where? Tel-Aviv? May be useful to some, but not of much use
to people from other areas, especially the north.
Is there really so few people on this group with cars? All it takes is for
1/5 of us to have cars so that we can pick everyone up (except, of course,
people whole live in far-away areas with nobody else living close to them,
but such a person can take a bus to somewhere central, e.g., Tel-Aviv and
be picked up from there).

RE: Linux related activities in Nazareth area

2000-04-12 Thread Chen Shapira

The important questions are ofcourse where and when.

When - after Passover, when the hordes leave the Galili (and leave nature
some time to recover) but before june - so it won't be too hot :-)

Where - Any good betsefer Sade / Beit Haaracha in the area? how much will it
cost? where will we eat? the more people we are the cheaper it'll get. Think
we can get anyone to partially sponsor such event?

Thanks,
Chen.

Yes you can.

Leave Dimona at 12:00
Take a bus to Beer-Sheva and then a fast bus to Tel-Aviv.
That should put you in Tel-Aviv before 16:00
I pick you up from Tel-Aviv.
We happily drive north.
We get there by 18:00.
QED.

Not Dimona maybe, but I'm sure there are lots of beautiful places in the
south. If you can find a place for around 20 penguins to spend a weekend
there, and plan activities - it will be fun!

Thanks,
Chen.

I'm from Ashqelon, and I would love a bus from Tel-Aviv. Its not a
problem to get to telaviv these days, coz everybody go there all the
time, but to Nazareth its a problem. I think its a cool idea to do that
kind of stuff

If your from Dimona, doesn't mean everybody is crazy like you, to come
to the meetings from there ;)
And besides, if you can't, there is still a couple of people from other
cities from around. That could be cool even without you =)

  yeah a T-Shirt that says:

Its not really a joke. Look:

lol

quote from site:
"Also, we are seriously considering changing some fundamental OS features.
The idea would be that function calls and features suggesting evil and
otherwise pagan ideas would be changed.

abort(3)

If they every get that distribution off the ground I'm switching to
OpenBSD... gotta love that little devil.
