I've burned three cds - the Free Mandriva 2k8 - so I can verify the cdburning part works - I used GnomeBaker, as K3B didn't seem to want to burn isos, though I might've been ignorant of some finer point or other ... ;) My attempt to copy a DVD failed because the DVD I had was already coaster material, so I can't say yea or nay on the DVD aspect. Please bring your own cds or DVDs, as I don't have the key for the office, where the cds are kept. Re: Meta - Spam vs Ham in Job postings on Cantlug?
In principle I have no problems. However I am somewhat apprehensive that, by your definition of the AUP, the list could become both a 'Tenderers Gazette' for small jobs, and also a haven for H.R. consultants trying to locate operators who could use products such as Open Office. Frankly, I don't fancy having to wade through dozens of either type of posting. Or, for that matter, dozens of 'Work Wanted - I can type using OOo' pleading adverts. Difficult to know how to draw the line. Meta - Spam vs Ham in Job postings on Cantlug?
Given the new anti-spam laws I thought it might be Good to clear this up properly. Personally, given the very small and fluctuating IT job market in Canterbury, I am in favour employers and employees posting appropriate Job ad / Job requests on this list. By Appropriate I mean Very Strictly "Job In Canterbury" and "Using Linux". It would be nice to see a definitive comment in... http://clug.net.nz/index.php/EmailListFAQ or http://clug.net.nz/index.php/EmailListMonthlyMail (which seems to be broken now...) Grey areas that may need clarification might be "(Canterbury|willing to move to Canterbury|telecommute) person (wanted for|looking for) a job (in Canterbury|NZ|anywhere) doing (linux|writing foss|using foss|anything)" Personally I would favour "(Canterbury|willing to move to Canterbury) person (wanted for|looking for) a job in Canterbury doing (writing|using) foss." Netbeans and Openoffice.org
Has anyone used netbeans with openoffice.org sdk? I'm using ubuntu gutsy and installed both packages from the repositories and set up netbeans to find the openoffice extensions. I was following the instructions here: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OpenOffice_NetBeans_Integration It all seemed to install fine, but when I go to create a openoffice addin I get the error: While executing an SDK Command, the following error happened: /usr/lib/openoffice/sdk/linux/bin/uno-skeletonmaker: 4: basename: not found /usr/lib/openoffice/sdk/linux/bin/skeletonmaker: 4: /usr/lib/openoffice/sdk/liniux/bin/.bin: not found I'm wanting to start writing openoffice macros and thought I might as well start off properly using java rather than with some poxy basic language!

Greetings to CLUGgers, The November meeting is tomorrow Tuesday 13 November 2007. Brett Davidson will be continuing his exposition on setting up the Apache Web Server. I belive he is going to be talking about how to set it up the PHP scripting language to interface to databases. ( Brett: You may wish to expandthat bald sentence ) The Distro Archive is now more or less functional. If you want a CD or DVD just ask. A light supper will be served consisting of Tea or Instant Coffee and a Biscuit will be served during the course of the evening. Future Meetings:- The December Meeting slot is still open for a willing speaker, or we could enjoy an evening in a suitable public house such as the Twisted Hop in Poplar Street. No Meeting in January. Most folks are away. Last but not least:- There has to be a $2.00 minimum entrance fee to pay for the hire of the hall and supper. -- Sincerely etc. Christopher Sawtell
