Re: Slow performance from Dell Laptop
Biggest users of the processor are exaile (30%%) pulseaudio (13%), how well does Amarok run? in comparison since exaile is basicly a GTk copy of amarok funny thing is I already got sound working perfectly with out pulseaudio
Slow performance from Dell Laptop
I have Ubuntu Hardy Heron installed on a Dell Inspiron 1100, (2Ghz Celeron, 512Mb ram). The principle use for this machine is to use rdesktop to access one or more windows machines but I also have it running exaile to play music while I work and Synergy to work on other machines in my room. Unfortunately, running these programs seems too much for it since I upgraded to Hardy Heron from Gutsy Gibbon. I am getting load averages of 1.0 when I start everything, then rising to over 2 when I've been running for a while. (Currently 2.22 1.69 1.20). So I have two questions: 1. Is this reasonable? (Should this be too much for this machine?) 2. If not, wow would I diagnose what's wrong? Biggest users of the processor are exaile (30%%) pulseaudio (13%), htop (10%!), X (7%) Kerry
