Shipit and the LTS
Anyone know if there will be DVD (or USB?) distribution to LoCo teams for the 14.04 LTS? Alan. -- I work at http://libertus.co.uk -- loco-contacts mailing list loco-contacts@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/loco-contacts

IMHO switching to USB's and eliminating server entirely would save a lot of waste and be a green move. Re: Shipit and the LTS
Back in April a loco council blog post indicated that install DVDs would be available for LTS releases only. blog post at: http://lococouncil.ubuntu.com/2013/04/05/about-ubuntu-13-04-cdsdvds/http://lococouncil.ubuntu.com/2013/04/05/about-ubuntu-13-04-cdsdvds/ I'm not aware of any change in position since then. As well as creating customs problems. Yes, there will be CDs/DVDs for 14.04. -- José Antonio Rey On 24/10/2013, at 03:21, Benjamin Kerensa bkere...@ubuntu.com wrote: IMHO switching to USB's and eliminating server entirely would save a lot of waste and be a green move. Re: Shipit and the LTS
Ubuntu Maryland USA would also like to receive either the DVD's or usb for 14.04 LTS release. Re: Shipit and the LTS
The procedure for requesting DVDs (or whatever install media is offered) is outlined at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoGettingCdshttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoGettingCds This wiki page was last updated for 12.10, the last time DVDs were distributed to LoCo Teams. I presume the request procedure for 14.04 DVDs/alternative media will follow a similar structure. Important to note that the LoCo Team Contact must request the Media. If memory serves, the LoCo Team contacts make their requests much closer to the release date. Re: Shipit and the LTS
At this point I must stress that **valid reachable points of contact** must be shown on Launchpad as soon as possible for each and every LoCo team. It is strongly preferred though not **yet** required that points of contact be subscribed to this mailing list. The guidelines as shown on the wiki page Mike cites also note that teams must be approved to receive disc orders. That has transitioned into having a Verification health check to the best of my understanding at the moment. A quick check on the LoCo Portal at http://loco.ubuntu.com/teams/ shows that many teams would not meet the previous threshold to get discs. I will raise this matter for discussion with my fellow members of the LoCo Council. We're nowhere near even Alpha 1 let alone vUDS-1311 so this doesn't require crash/emergency consideration yet.
