 Very funny Howard!
I'm sure Jean-Marie Poirier will laugh a lot when reading this message. (he
is of course on this list)
He is now in Shanghaï, playing theorbo at the French pavillion for the
Universal exposition...

And onscreen, some guy with the ridiculous name of Jean-Marie Poirier
(must be one of those French types) played Monsieur de Bures.

[LUTE] Agnus Dei from Hohe Messe for lute

2010-06-13 Thread David van Ooijen
Last Friday I had the pleasure to perform the Agnus Dei form Bach's
B-minor mass with just archlute (but I suppose 8-course will do) and
altus. I thought I'd share my arrangement with you. Find it on my
SheetMusic page:
http://home.planet.nl/~ooije006/david/sheetmusic_f.html

enjoy

Words do indeed have untold shades of meaning to members of a

I didn't say it was reserved for ordinary people. You seem to have
   got
your wires crossed - or perhas words have a different shade of
   meaning in
the USA.

But as this exchange is really of topic I will leave it at that.

No, simply pointing out that your statement about hanging, drawing,
   etc.
being reserved for ordinary people was incorrect.

   be grateful for any replies.

It's exactly what you said:

In England the ordinary people were hanged drawn and quartered. The well to
do were beheaded - less painful. Class disinction even on the gallows.

A class distinction in which one mode of execution is for the well-to-do and
another for the ordinary. You were absolutely clear, on both sides of the
Atlantic. It may not be what you intended to say, but it's what you said.

I did a lot of diminuitions, and some more. It sounds really great!
