[LUTE] Re: A cautionary Tale and quest for advice
Hi to all, I had a similar problem with Luciano Faria. I ordered a renaissance lute and have paid 30% deposit and after over 1 year (the time established for completing the instrument) and many mails I have come to know from another member of the list that my lute was sold because he had lost my email. When i wrote to him again he proposed to me to have a new instrument or my deposit back...i chose for this latter option but till now I have not seen my money back It's not a good behaviour from lutemaker Im' trying right now to send an email for sending me back my deposit... I hope you will be luckier than me... Regards Luciano Faria To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html

[LUTE] Who wrote this piece?
Does anyone know who's the author of this piece? http://www.daniellarson.com/lutes/berkholtzer/berkholtzer_baroque_lute_sarabande.wma It's an example of a baroque lute sound on the site of Daniel Larson, and it sounds very beautiful and well played (and the instrument also has a full, dark and gorgeous sound!) Any help welcomed... Thanks to all Davide To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
[LUTE] narvaez
Hi to all, I just tried to play si par soufrir, from the vihuela book of Narvaez, and find it very very beautiful; Does anyone know something about the author of the original (I suppose it's an intabulation from a vocal piece)? I'm looking for the original score too, just to make a comparison and better comprehend this piece (for me wonderful)so if someone can help me. Best regards Davide To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
[LUTE] Re: narvaez
No, I think is in Narvaez Delphin de Musica, perhaps indicated simply as cancion and not as si par soufrir, but I could mistake.I'm check again as soon as possible, but think it's right. Is there one in Newsidler books too? Davide To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
[LUTE] Re: narvaez
I've better checked my hard disk and found a si par soufrir which reports as the composer Luys de Narvaez, and for the text (Jean Courtois), might be true or is it a misattribution? Effectively I've found too the original composer to be Gombert (one of my after the supreme Lassus and Tallis), but even if I know well his output, I had never heard or found this song among his compositions.. However thank you all, and if anyone has the original text or know something about Jean Courtois, let me know Best regards Davide To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html

[LUTE] lute radio
Hi to all lutenetters out there, what I'm going to write is a little idea I had in mind for a long time what do you think about creating a little radio online dedicated to the world of the lute, vihuela and similars? I'm going to try something through shoutcast...for now with my little upload bandwidth I can load 16 listeners as maximum...but as a beginning that's better than nothingso I would like to know your opinions about a similar projectjust to taste. I thought about Orpheus as a name...and I think I'll make some trial tomorrow morning or night (or even this night)...so if you find orpheus in shoutcast yellow pagesgive it a try and tell me if all go well... [LUTE] da Milano editions
Hi to all, I'd like to buy a facsmile of work by Francesco da Milano,so I've found some, searching through the net, at http://www.saulbgroen.nl/. But does anyone know the differences between Intabolatura da leuto del divino Francisco da Milano novamente stanpata and the Intavolatura de viola o vero lauto of 1536, because the former seems to be dated as earlier of 1536 (and seems to have less recercares; anyone knows the #ness recercares included in the two versions?) [LUTE] Re: da Milano
Stephen Fryer ha scritto: Is there an index giving incipits of da Milano's works with their Ness numbers? I am also looking for a facsimile of the fantasia Ness #38 from the _Intabolatura de lauto di M. Francesco Milanese et M. Perino Fiorentino_ of 1547 (abbreviated 47G3 in the Ness book). It would be appreciated if someone could point me to a source. I don't know if there's an index around (I've not found any through the web), but at http://www.saulbgroen.nl/ or at http://www.minkoff-editions.com/ (Minkoff Editions) they sell the facsimile of the Intabolatura de lauto di M. Francesco Milanese et M. Perino Fiorentino, dated 1562 and not 1547. For play only (and not buy!) try http://web.gerbode.net/ft2/composers/Milano/milano_038.ft2 (Fronimo is needed) All the best Davide To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
