Thanks. It did remove the old .exe but seems to still use the
unversioned user directory...

Yes, I hadn't done anything about that, except to change configure.py so
that it copies over
information from the versioned one to the unversioned one. I'm working
on it now.

It didn't copy my system. But maybe that was because I already had both
directories due to the previous install.

A git bisect led me here. I could reproduce the following issue on
current 2.3.x branch and current master.

To reproduce:

1. Put the cursor just before "def".
3. Go to Insert > Branch > New Branch and enter "handout".
4. The branch inset is not painted until you move the mouse, or until
   you press a keyboard button.

Can you reproduce?

Hopefully....LyX 2.3.1-1

2018-09-29 Thread Richard Kimberly Heck
I have uploaded a new version of the Windows installer to

    http://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/devel/lyx-2.3/

This SHOULD (and does seem to) use a versioned user directory but NOT
have versioned executables. Please test.

Stefan: I am pretty sure this will be the final version, but I don't
want to tag it until I'm sure. Still, if you want to go ahead and build
a new package, then you can check out rgheck/2.3.1-1, which is what I
will push as a new tag once I am sure. (It'll be exactly the same code,
but of course in the main repo.) The only change that will affect you is
the one to configure.ac. The others are Windows only.

Ubuntu packages?

2018-09-29 Thread Chris Menzel
Dear selfless and heroic LyX developers,

I have noticed that the most recent version of LyX for Ubuntu is 2.3.0-1
and (according to the PPA
) that version
was uploaded last March. I'm just wondering if this indicates that
maintenance of the Ubuntu port is stalled or if (as I suspect) other
obligations are (understandably) simply not allowing the maintainer time to
compile and package up the latest version.

Thanks!

Chris Menzel

OK, I will do this later today.

Yes, that’s it, IMO. Plus a 2.3.1.1 tag. Then I can build from the
checkout or make the tar myself.

Message window pane leaves a "shadow" after closing

2018-09-29 Thread Paola Manzini
Hello everyone,

I have a problem with the message window leaving a “trace” after being closed.
I am running LyX 2.3.1 on a MacBook Pro. I had the problem with Mac OS High
Sierra, and it persists in Mac OS Majoave, that I updated to last night. It
sometimes happen also with the Outline pane.

I did manage to make it go away by closing all tabs, closing LyX and and
starting again (I have the “load opened files from last session” on, and
closing and reopening LyX with this option selected keeps the “shadow”).

I thought I’d let you know, as this looks like a bug.

Many thanks,
Paola

update version and date in configure.ac

(this should have been done also for the windows updates, IMHO, do
differentiate the respective updates; apart from that, I think we
should tag the versions in git, if we do not want to provide source
tarballs for these sub-minor releases)

Hi,
I am pretty sure that 2) is a bug. Maybe there is a reason for 1) but
then the installer should tell the user to uninstall the old version

"reinstall" in the dialog is a bit ambiguous too. I think what is meant
is "*uninstall* and reinstall", or?
