Translation status for 2.4.0

Dear developers
On the "trunk" translation page

I see that French misses 5 translations.
I am puzzled because locally with 2.4.x up to date after git pull and 
strings remerged, the translation is up to date.

Am I missing something?

The problem is the backwards conversion (converting from 2.4 to 2.3
file format) and not the forward conversion, right?


Right, opening the 2.3.8 UG in 2.4 works fine.

The backwards conversion has always been a *good to have* an not a
*should have*.

If this can be easily fixed then of course it should be fixed.

I am sorry if I am understanding this wrong, I have no time to get all
the details right. :-)

You need to tell us little bit more about your system. What distro,
what Qt version, what Qt style you use.

One tool which is working for me is qt5ct (debian has package of the same name)
and it's settings are used if you have environment variable set to
QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct.

scroll down like I do with the mouse wheel/two-finger-scroll?


That's correct, I use the mouse wheel on my PC.

Looking at the stable series while in development the version suffix
looks similar to the above.

For what is worth while building the rpm for Fedora of the development
version I set explicitly the version suffix. This is also my suggestion
to you.

%configure --with-version-suffix=-devel

That ensures that versions suffix is always the same.

FWIW I am using the autotools but it should be possible using cmake.

The po strings were not remerged in master for some time (that's why you see
1 untr in master - but 4 untr in tarball, because all strings are remerged
by default when creating tarball).


OK, I did not remerge myself. But I am surprised to see so much 
différences, my last remerge was nov. 29th.

The error that made the tests fail is quite peculiar. I copied the new
escape sequences at the end of section 6.8.1 from the English UserGuide
without marking it as French, and I got this error:

! Paragraph ended before \bbl@foreign@x was complete.

When I look at the code, I do not see any missing parenthesis.

eux\foreignlanguage{english}{.\nomenclature{%@, %|, %!, %"}{The quote sign
in TeX code is output by writing ' %"{}%"{} '.}}

The error disappears when I mark the index entry as French, and the new 
code is:


.\nomenclature{%@, %|, %!, %"}{The quote sign in TeX code is output by
writing ' %"{}%"{} '.}

Could this be a hidden bug affecting language embedding of index entries?
I'll try to build a MWE.


Thanks for looking into it. I do not know LaTeX well, but I agree with
you that I do not see any missing parenthesis. I wonder if this could be
a bug in a LaTeX package (either nomenclature or the language handling).



Thé problem comes from the % signs  in the arguments of the nomenclature 
command, seems that they are not escaped in the range of the 
\foreignlanguage command.

The LaTeX snippet works fine or I replace foreignlanguage by selectlanguage.
How does LyX To decide between these two forms of language switching?

I guess I should have simply patched the local files, right? Or is there a
git command to revert locally only?


I'm no sure what the best practice is. One way might be to create a 
separate branch and apply the patches there. And then perhaps there's a way 
to disable pushing a new branch?



The clipboard message is still there, but I got this message when starting LyX:

I'm not sure that this error has something to do with LyX, but Open File

It depends on how those path changes got in there. How did you write the
file to the master repository location? If you did "save as" then I
think that would explain it because in that case LyX would preserve the
paths to the 2.3.x files. In that case, the fix is simple: just copy the
file outside of LyX from the 2.3.x directory to the master directory.

If you didn't do "save as", then I'm not sure how the paths got changed.
If we can't figure it out, it's easy enough to give you some "sed"
commands that would take care of fixing the paths, but that is annoying
and we'd have to remember to run them each time 2.3.x docs are ported
over to master.



I guess I opened the file from the master dir like
lyx-2.4.0dev ../2.3.x/lib/doc/fr/UserGuide.lyx

I should open it from its own dir and then copy the file to master,  I'll 
remember it for Additional.

Chromium, Firefox, and FileZilla. What error do you get? Does the FTP
