I also encountered the same problem with LyX 1.0. I created a new
document, and as long as there were only the environments 'title' and
'author', I was not able to preview the dvi. But after I had inserted the
first word in the 'standard' or 'Section' environment, the preview was
successful. This was reproducible.

Re: Theorems in different laguanges

1999-02-09 Thread Alexander Stasinski

Alexander I used your example file and redefined it as I wanted, but
Alexander what do I do next? I named the file amsartswe.layout and
Alexander put it in .lyx/layouts, but not even a reconfigure from
Alexander within LyX made it appear in the layouts menu. How do I
Alexander make the textklass appear (and work :) in the LyX menu?

Oops, sorry! The file as I write it needs a amsartswe.cls LaTeX
document class, which obviously does not exist. Change the beginning
 of the file to read:

#% Do not delete the line below; configure depends on this
 # \DeclareLaTeXClass[amsart]{article (AMS, french)}

This will force the textclass to use amsart.cls.

Thanks! Now it works fine, but I wonder if can change the names of the
environments as the appear inside LyX, i e on the menu with environments, as
well. Is this possible?

/Alex

Problem getting lyx 1.0 to run

1999-02-09 Thread Terry Bayne

Hi,

Ive recently downloaded xforms .88, and lyx 1.0. I configured, compiled and
installed both without any problems. When I attempt to start lyx, I get the
following error messages:

fl_set_object_boxtype Setting boxtype of NULL object
In fl_gn_form [forms.c 55] You forgot to call fl_end_form

Once those two messages are displayed nothing happens and Im returned to the
command prompt.

Any ideas?

Thanks

problem though. I run Afterstep and in the wharf I put an icon for
LyX. This runs ok when I'm at runlevel 3, but it doesn't work at
runlevel 5, despite the fact that i can start LyX from an xterm!
What the heck could be the problem here?

By the way...when I minimize the LyX window a nice icon appears on my

anywhere among the files. Does anybody have it as an xbm-file?

 Thank you all,

Sorry, I mixed things up. "bibtopic" was initially based on, but not very
similar anymore to "bibtopics", and it's not yet on CTAN. You can grab it
from:

ftp://ftp.cis.uni-muenchen.de/pub/ulrich/bibtopic/

At least in the German TeX community, this package is getting very popular,
although it's still labelled beta software.

Re: lyx on SGI

1999-02-09 Thread Harry Westfahl Jr.

Hi Roland,

I am also trying to run lyx on IRIX-5.3.
I first tried to compile the source with no success. Couldn't find
the xpm.h! (and probably because I don't have gcc but only c++).
Now I tried to install the binary static distribution, but as I type
lyx, it returns the message : Killed.
Do you have any other sugestion??? Greetings, Harry.

Re: lyx on SGI

1999-02-09 Thread Roland Krause

I am fairly shure, that the binary distribution is either outdated or
for IRIX-6.2 which wont work for 5.3.
You can therefore either get gcc and xpm and xforms and all the other stuff
you will need and compile it yourself or I can try to send you a binary.
Note though that you will have to have xpm and xforms libraries on your system.
