eurosym troubles

2002-04-22 Thread Bob Torres

Hello,

I'm using the Eurosym package in a file that I'm working on in LyX.
I had everything working fine on another linux box, but when I moved the
file to a new box with the Eurosym package installed, I get the
following error when I try to view the dvi of my file:

grep: feymr10.log: No such file or directory
mktexpk: `mf \mode:=ljfour; mag:=1+120/600; nonstopmode; input feymr10'
failed to make feymr10.720pk.
kpathsea: Appending font creation commands to missfont.log.
xdvi.bin: Can't find font feymr10.720pk
xdvi.bin: Not all pixel files were found

I know I may be missing something obvious, but I've checked to make sure
that I've installed Eurosym correctly, and it looks like I have.
Anyway, if anyone has any pointers about how to solve this, I'd
appreciate it. My brain is a little fried of late from working on this
particular file (which happens to be my Doctoral Thesis!). And like I
said, it does work fine on other boxes where I've installed Eurosym...

Within a LyX document:
(In ERT) \nocite{*}
before you insert your bibliography

If you just want a printout of the bibliography, printbib will creat a .dvi
file from a .bib file. I don't have it on my system though, so don't know

Solution for importing RTF documents?

2002-04-22 Thread Carl Hudkins

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi...

Please note that this is not a critical need, just an occasional
desire. Further, I seem to remember being able to import an RTF a year
or so ago, but my memory may have a parity error or something. ;)

I have searched on Google and in the mailing list archives, and not
found a good solution for this. I have downloaded and attempted to
compile rtf2latex2e, but it fails with odd errors. The only other
tools I have seen (for *nix) are for LaTeX--RTF, which do not help me
as I want to go the other way. rtf2latex2e looks like a great
solution, as it claims to handle equations, WMF, etc. -- but its home
page has vanished and I can only conclude it's no longer being
maintained. CTAN has a version 0.2.something, but version 1.0fc2 is
listed on Sourceforge as most current, and that's the one that doesn't
build. :(
(Mandrake 8.1, gcc 2.96, i686...)

Anyway, if anyone has a good solution for getting RTF files into LyX,
I'd love to hear it... if not, don't sweat it; I'm sure someone else
has a more urgent problem than I. :)

eurosym troubles

2002-04-22 Thread Bob Torres

Hello,

I'm using the Eurosym package in a file that I'm working on in LyX.
I had everything working fine on another linux box, but when I moved the
file to a new box with the Eurosym package installed, I get the
following error when I try to view the dvi of my file:

grep: feymr10.log: No such file or directory
mktexpk: `mf \mode:=ljfour; mag:=1+120/600; nonstopmode; input feymr10'
failed to make feymr10.720pk.
kpathsea: Appending font creation commands to missfont.log.
xdvi.bin: Can't find font feymr10.720pk
xdvi.bin: Not all pixel files were found

I know I may be missing something obvious, but I've checked to make sure
that I've installed Eurosym correctly, and it looks like I have.
Anyway, if anyone has any pointers about how to solve this, I'd
appreciate it. My brain is a little fried of late from working on this
particular file (which happens to be my Doctoral Thesis!). And like I
said, it does work fine on other boxes where I've installed Eurosym...

Within a LyX document:
(In ERT) \nocite{*}
before you insert your bibliography

If you just want a printout of the bibliography, printbib will creat a .dvi
file from a .bib file. I don't have it on my system though, so don't know
what the output is like.

Solution for importing RTF documents?

2002-04-22 Thread Carl Hudkins

Hash: SHA1

I think overfull/underfull should create error insets (or warning

Just using pslatex, using the default configurations of ps2pdf or pdflatex
is VERY BAD.

instead of pslatex:

\usepackage{mathptmx}
\usepackage[scaled=0.9]{helvet} % or [scaled=0.92], if you like

Thanks alot Herbert.
I managed to get it work. Now here is the question... I need to define
several nomenclatures, practically one for each chapter (it is a large
document and I am running out of symbols.) Any idea how I can get that one
done?

eurosym troubles

2002-04-22 Thread Bob Torres

Hello,

I'm using the Eurosym package in a file that I'm working on in LyX.
I had everything working fine on another linux box, but when I moved the
file to a new box with the Eurosym package installed, I get the
following error when I try to view the dvi of my file:

grep: feymr10.log: No such file or directory
mktexpk: `mf \mode:=ljfour; mag:=1+120/600; nonstopmode; input feymr10'
failed to make feymr10.720pk.
kpathsea: Appending font creation commands to missfont.log.
xdvi.bin: Can't find font feymr10.720pk
xdvi.bin: Not all pixel files were found

I know I may be missing something obvious, but I've checked to make sure
that I've installed Eurosym correctly, and it looks like I have.
Anyway, if anyone has any pointers about how to solve this, I'd
appreciate it. My brain is a little fried of late from working on this
particular file (which happens to be my Doctoral Thesis!). And like I
said, it does work fine on other boxes where I've installed Eurosym...

TIA,

Bob

Within a LyX document:
(In ERT) \nocite{*}
before you insert your bibliography

If you just want a printout of the bibliography, printbib will creat a .dvi
file from a .bib file. I don't have it on my system though, so don't know
what the output is like.

I realize the protection is only half serious. But you'd be surprised
how many "average" users don't have a clue of how to re-enable printing,
copying, etc.

All I wanted to know was whether encrypting was doable from within LyX,
though I'm aware it can be very ineffective.

Roberto

What I was asking was if I could have it at the begining of the document in
the following format:

Nomenclature for Chapter 1
c friction constant
...

Nomenclature for Chapter 2
c a contour
...

Hi,

My system has just been updated from RH7.1 to RH7.2,
I found that all the math symbols won't be shown
in lyx. I can still run latex etc. from lyx and
get correct ps files. Would anyone tell me what I
should do? Thanks a lot!

I have downloaded and attempted to
compile "rtf2latex2e", but it fails with odd errors. The only other
tools I have seen (for *nix) are for LaTeX-->RTF, which do not help me
as I want to go the other way. rtf2latex2e looks like a great
solution, as it claims to handle equations, WMF, etc.

Bye now,

Problems installing lyx

2002-04-22 Thread Francisco Useche

Hi:

I am trying to install lyx in
- Os= redhat linux 7.2

Version= lyx-1.1.6fix3

Problem:
- I untared the file lyx-1.1.6fix3.tar
- Then proceded to execute the command ./configure as is said in the
  INSTALL file
- It aborts the configuration because it cannot find the library
  libforms or libxforms
- Under the directory xforms/FORMS/ in the lyx directory there is the
  library libforms.a
- I made a link to this library from both /usr/lib and /usr/local/lib
with the name libforms as apparently is expected by ./configure, but
it still cannot find the libraries.

Could somebody tell me what is the trick to install successfully lyx under
this conditions?

Any help is welcome

Thanks
Francisco

you have to install the xformslib, which should be part of
your linus distribution or download it from
ftp://ftp.sylvan.com
